TODAY’S DEVOTION (SUNDAY 5th January 2020)
“One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.” Psalm 27:4 NKJV
WELCOME TO THE 5TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF REJOICING
There can be no REJOICING without the Great God working out His will, power, and ways in our lives through the truths we have learnt so far from the first day of 2020 devotionals.
I like the way one of our daughters in the house put it, Melody. Her comments on the Church WhatsApp group was amazing, just like every other comment from our sons and daughters in the house. She picked what looked like a prophetic word for her from each of the devotionals and I saw it very interesting. She said:
- Day One – I shall see the salvation of the LORD!
- Day Two – I will fulfill my days in 2020
- Day three – I will spend my year on my knees
- Day four – I will not worry!
It is important that we absorb this living epistles from the pen of the Spirit of prophecy working in man. Though they are coming as devotionals, but I know in my spirit that they are more than devotionals. A lot of preachers have turned them into their preaching notes while others are writing books and their own devotionals from them.
For us in the house, the primary targets of this blessing, we should not neglect them. We should absorb them. Every word, line and truth should be absorbed.
When God say it is our YEAR OF REJOICING and is opening the days of the year with such truths, we should understand the GOD these things are coming from. The Bible made it clear that He is the God of wonders beyond the galaxies.
He is not the greater God, neither is He the greatest God because there is no other God besides Him. He is the ONE AND Only True GOD who manifested as Jesus Christ, KING of kings and LORD of lords. No one to compare Him to. He said in His word “besides me there is no other.” He is simply the Great God with not even a god out there to compare HIM with. His greatness should help us ride on these truths.
I have come to realize that people who lack the revelation of His greatness, finds it difficult to believe in His word!
THE POWER OF HIS GREATNESS IS SIMPLY BEYOND HUMAN COMPREHENSION.
That is why you cannot study GOD. God can only be revealed to you. Creation speaks of His greatness. The endless Oceans and galaxies and all that man is calling the 7 wonders of the world speaks of His wonders. It is from the fountain of His greatness that the YEAR OF REJOICING prophecy will be performed in our lives.
Fellow soldier of the cross, my faith in the prophecy is anchored in the revelation of His greatness. For instance, the great God does not do small things. They may start small like we started at the Cry of the Spirit ministries in 2014, He does not do small things. He does great things. His great things start very small sometimes. If you are not sensitive; if you despise the days of the small beginnings of the Great things that He does, you will miss His moves in your life.
When you see a small people looking or becoming great, it is because they are riding on the wings of God’s greatness. When you ride on the wings of His greatness, you go forward, when you go forward you REJOICE.
That is why it is our year of rejoicing. It steamed from our year of GREATER THINGS, then flowed to our year of GOING FORWARD and we have been brought to our YEAR OF REJOICING!
He said in Isaiah 60:22 “A little one shall become a thousand and a small one a strong nation, I, the LORD, will hasten it in its time.” No small people will remain small if they depend and ride on the wings of God’s greatness. That becomes the seed of their going forward and REJOICING in the LORD their GOD.
LET US CONSIDER THE STORY OF THE SMALL DAVID AND A BIG GIANT
The Bible made it clear that whenever God want to reveal Himself and demonstrate His greatness, He does not use great people He uses small people.
The reason is simple. If He use great people no one will see His greatness. He will always use small people so that all will see how great He is. That was the story of David!
For 40 days a giant stood over a national army boasting and throwing out challenges at them. None could raise their heads against him. None could depend on a great God to confront him. The entire armies of Israel shrank in fear and receded into their shells. Even the king could not depend on the anointing of God upon his life and take the risk.
But one day a small boy came to the scene and changed everything. He came to give food and supplies to his brother but met an opportunity to reveal the Greatness of the God of Israel. The rest, as they say is History.
What is the revelation here? The revelation is simple. Whenever a big devil faces a small people, it is for God’s greatness to be revealed. The small people should not shrink in fear and run away. God allows big things to face His small people so that His greatness can be revealed through them. Hallelujah!
It shall be a YEAR OF REJOICING for God’s small people also. The David generation will rejoice Over the Goliath Generation.
Watch out! That means the giants that have been rejoicing over God’s small people are about being taken down by the stones of Zion in the spirits of just-men.
Can someone shout hallelujah!
You may be the smallest in your family and serving the LORD. You may be the smallest in your office, your city or business place. There may be big devils and giants around you that have been roaring at you, rejoicing over you and threatening fire and brim stone in 2019, do not panic. They have followed you into a year where GOD has made decrees against them.
They have been rejoicing over you, it is your turn to rejoice over them! But you must understand the key – the key to standing strong before their faces. Yes, you must come to the revelation of why Israel ran away from the giant and why David stood.
WHY ISRAEL RAN AND DAVID STOOD
Our devotional text today revealed a part of David that Israel never had. He was deeply intimate with God. Obviously, king Saul and the rest of Israel was not. You must not be like the Saul breed. You must be like the David breed this year!
David was a small man who spent hours communing with a great God. No small man commune with a great God and remain small. He will stand before great devils and unlock the greatness of God. That was who David was. And that is what you are to become this year. Yes, people who will rejoice in their year of rejoicing must follow the Davidic steps.
Talking about the Davidic steps, it is important to note that David’s passion for the presence of God is written all over the book of Psalms. A major highlight in our devotional text says; “One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.”
Your passion for the presence of GOD in our year of rejoicing must be written all over your statement. That is one major step you must take this year.
If we will see THE JOY that the LORD has promised us this year, we must be deeply intimate with Him.
There is one secret to rejoicing, it is the secret of having GOD by your side all the time. But here is what many of us miss. It is not enough to have GOD by your side. You must be intimate with the GOD that is by your side walking with Him in Holiness and righteousness.
If God is by your side and you are not intimate with Him, walking in Holiness and righteousness, you will never see Him rise against the enemy when hell comes against you. You will not REJOICE over your enemies. That is why many Christians suffer defeat despite God being by their side.
When God said IT IS OUR YEAR OF REJOICING, that is Heaven telling us that GOD is by our side. Now, we are to be intimate with Him to see His presence perform the word in our lives. We must not remain in the state of believing and trusting that He is by our slde without going forward to walk uprightly before the God that is by our side and intimately with His Holy Spirit.
The dilemma of Christians we just remain at the GOD-is-by-my-side level is huge. In dreams and visions, they will see Him by their side. Through prophets and the voice of the Holy Spirit they will know He is by their side. But you find them going through hellish things. You cannot just depend on the revelation or assurance of Him being by your side, you must go further.
Without being intimate with GOD, devils will intimidate you.
If you depend just on the revelation without being intimate with Him, you will lack strength to stand before giants and watch Heaven slay them before you.
ISRAEL RAN BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT INTIMATE. DAVID STOOD BECAUSE HE WAS INTIMATE AND REJOICED AFTERWARDS!
As we bring this to a close, we must understand something. Today, most local churches are spiritually dry and very noisy. There is no power as of Old in so many local assemblies. They just have Baal and all other gods in manifestation.
Instead of being filled with the Holy Ghost most are filled with the influences of religious demons. Consequently, there is no peace anywhere. People get but do not stay married. There is no power to keep them married. Big devils bring their marriages down because they are NOT intimate with GOD enough for the Great God to bring the devils down with their sling stones (prayers).
Outright spiritual darkness is what you see in the life of those who profess to be sons of light. Sin in all sorts of deceitful living and sexual perversion now reigns from the pulpit to the pew. There is no power to live the Holy Life we are all called into. Big devils in charge of sin, iniquity and trespass defeat us easily because we are not intimate enough to see God do great things through us.
This can not be the Christianity Jesus died to birth. It cannot be the movement that turned the ancient world upside down and neutralized all it is demons.
Physiologically, you see Christians move from illness to illness because there is no balm in Gilead again any longer.
The word “Gilead” means worship, and the word “Balm” means Healing.
Our worship no longer generates Healing for the sick. It only generates “goose bumps” and noise. And make those who lead in songs more sexy than spiritual. Consequently, many get sick and die prematurely and we foolishly explain our powerlessness away with the old funeral sermon that says “the LORD gives and the LORD takes back, blessed be the name of the LORD” making God look wicked in the eyes of those stricken with the grief of the loss of their loved one.
THIS IS A NEW YEAR! ALL THESE MUST STOP.
Enough of the nonsense we call Christianity. Time to get deep with God is now. If we do not obey the call for deep intimacy, we will always be answering to the calls of our enemies. The spirits of hell, death, and grave will not cease being our companion.
A generation that will possess the gates of their enemies must not be carrying bottles of oil about. It must be deep ion their walk with God. This oil madness must come to an end. We must throw away all shadows and cling to the substance of what Jesus died on the cross to bring to us!
We must walk away from centers of sin, wickedness, and trespass. We must not plant ourselves again in synagogue of Satan being ran as churches by charlatans. You can no longer afford to plant your destiny in Churches where Charismatic witchcraft rules and reign among the people.
If you want this year to be a rejoicing for you, then our devotional text must become your passion. Like David, you must say to the LORD “One thing I have desired of you, that will I seek: that I may dwell in your house all the days of my life, to behold your beauty, and to inquire in your temple”
