THE CRY OF THE SPIRIT DEVOTIONALS – BY RICHARD E. S. TAKIM

TODAY’S DEVOTION (Wednesday 18TH November 2020)

“For there are many insubordinate, both idle talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole households, teaching things which they ought not, for the sake of dishonest gain.” Titus 1:10-11 NKJV

WELCOME TO THE 321st DAY OF OUR YEAR OF REJOICING

In today’s devotional I feel led by the LORD to talk to you about mouths. We will be standing on the apostolic scripture above to unearth what the LORD want to share with us today.

To start with, our devotional text points out that there are some mouths that must be stopped. Do not wonder why the Bible says certain mouth (maybe including yours) must be stopped.

Destinies are either made or destroyed by mouths. The difference between war and peace lies in what comes out of the mouth. The difference between comfort and sorrow lies in how we use our mouth. Life and death are under the control of what comes out of us. That is why you must take your mouth very seriously if you will succeed in life.

People who do not take their mouths seriously will soon find themselves in serious problems. The words you speak create either blessings or burdens for you. There is so much in your life today that happened because of what you said yesterday.

For instance, (either you believe it or not), your mouth played a major role in bringing you to where you are in life today. Whatever you may be going through or celebrating in life today, was brought into your life by your mouth. It played a major role in bringing you to where you are today.

If you want to change the circumstances of your life, you must change the utterances of your mouth. Most times, you must just learn how to shut up! So many know how to open their mouth but do not know how or when to shut up.

LET ME SHOW YOU FOUR OF THE MANY THINGS I HAVE COME TO LEARN ABOUT THE MOUTH;

1. IF YOU DO NOT GUARD OR CONTROL WHAT COMES OUT OF YOUR MOUTH, YOU WILL LIVE A MISERABLE LIFE ON EARTH. Most people we say are cursed are not really cursed by the external but the internal. Their mouth is their ruin that is why they cannot be delivered.

2. YOUR MOUTH WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR EITHER YOUR SUCCESS OR FAILURE IN GOD’S PLANS FOR YOUR LIFE. Sometimes it is important to stop your own mouth if you want to succeed in the will of God, not the mouth of others. If you do not stop a mouth that causes ruin, it will stop a destiny from being fulfilled. The psalmist said, “…I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.” (Psalm 17:3 AMP)

The transgression of the mouth is the reason for the backwardness of many!

3. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PEACEFUL HOMES AND TROUBLE ONES LIES IN WHAT COMES OUT OF THE MOUTH. 90 percent of what we call domestic violence is precipitated by what comes out of the mouth. The utterance of one who call for blows will always bring injuries to his or her life.

If you cultivate a peaceful mouth, you will have a peaceful life.

4. THERE ARE PREACHERS WHOSE MOUTHS MUST BE STOPPED. That is what our devotional text tells us. The mouth of an erroneous preacher or prophet will destroy you. And that is where I want to zero in.

In the book of Revelation 16:13 we are told that unclean spirits, in form of frogs, do come out of the mouth of false prophets wherever they speak. That is why it is dangerous to listen to false prophets and teachers. God has no kind words for false preachers and prophets.

HE HAS NO KIND WORD FOR CHARLATANS.

If you give your life to a mouth that is speaking what may be working miracles but not producing righteousness in your life, you will be consumed by unclean spirits. If you yield your soul to people who have yielded their souls to greed, covetousness and all kinds of unclean spirits especially to be prophetic, you will make your soul worthless.

Indeed, if you hear what people have gone through in the hands of so called preachers, and what God’s true servants have gone through in the mouths of terrible church members, you will agree that there are people whose mouths must be stopped by the finger of GOD.

As you pass through this day, note the mouths that must be stopped and avoid them. Submit to the Spirit of Truth to guide your heart and guard your life from mouths that consume!

Sometimes it is not the mouth of a terrible church member or false preacher that must be stopped but yours. If your tongue is full of iniquity, you will be setting your life, and that of others on fire.

Time has come to cry like David did. Time has come to ask the LORD to save your soul from the mouth of evil men and all workers of iniquity. Time has come to ask the LORD to save you from even your own tongue!

David cried to the LORD, saying;

“Deliver my life from the sword, my dear life [my only one] from the power of the dog [the agent of execution].

Save me from the lion’s mouth; for you have answered me [kindly] from the horns of the wild oxen. I will declare your name to my brethren; in the midst of the congregation will I praise you. Psalm 22:20-22 AMP

I know the LORD God has spoken to your heart! You must not allow lies, cursing, unbelief, evil speaking, doubts, slander and etc. to be coming out of your mouth.

Our mouths will be stopped by the LORD if we do not know how to stop them from stopping us. Ask Zechariah the high priest who was made dumb by the LORD for allowing his mouth to run in the wrong direction in God’s active presence. Time to arrest out sinful mouths now before they throw us into unredeemable crisis.

God sent this word to keep us from falling into mouth related ditches and to provoke repentance in our hearts. May His will be done in Jesus precious name. Amen!

MAKE THIS SCRIPTURE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR THE DAY

“And Zacharias said to the angel, u“How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years.”

And the angel answered and said to him, “I am vGabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you 4these glad wtidings.

But behold, you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time.”

And the people waited for Zacharias, and marveled that he lingered so long in the temple. But when he came out, he could not speak to them; and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple, for he beckoned to them and remained speechless.” Luke 1:18-21 NKJV
