TODAY’S DEVOTION (Sunday 12th December 2021)
“Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”
“I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.” Jeremiah 29:12-14 NKJV
WELCOME TO THE 346TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF HIGHER HEIGHTS.
Life is a gift from God. How we use this gift depends largely on us. It can be likened to a flight ticket to any destination of a man’s choice. Where you go with the ticket depends on you.
Like can also be likened to a gift of a billion dollar. What you do with the money totally depends on you. However, the creator of life says it is more valuable than all the treasures of this world.
Life was designed by God to be beautiful! In fact, life is beautiful to those whose decisions are governed by its creator!!
Our decisions are what will determine how our lives turns out. They control what we do with life, and that finally defines what our lives turn out. With your decision, you can use your life to create pain for yourself or others. If you use your life to create pain for yourself or others, you will get pain in return and if you use it to remove pain from others you will get the same treatment in return.
Life was designed to work that way!
We must understand that God designed whatever we do with our lives (either good or bad) to be returned back to us, either in this life or the life to come. Your life can become a devourer if you spend it the way you man chooses. It can devour your joy, your peace, your health, your focus, your stability, even your marriage and money if you do not handle it properly.
That is why God did not design life to be spent the way a man chooses. God designed life to be spent the way He chooses; the way He designed it to be spent.
You see, if you receive the gift of life and do not go to meet GOD (the giver of the gift) to receive the rules for using His gift, the gift will become a curse to you.
LIFE IS A GIFT WITH RULES ATTACHED TO IT.
You don’t receive this gift and put it in drugs, crime, sin, iniquity, lies, sex orgies and whirl parties and etc. You don’t receive this gift and put it in lust and pride. You don’t receive it and put it in rebellion, in a trouble marriage, or in a trouble zone of life.
You received it and put it back in the hands of God.
Now how do we put our lives back into God’s hands? That is where the wisdom of God comes in. If you do not lead your life according to divine wisdom, you will lead it according to the negative influences of this world and waste it away.
A life led according to the influences of this world will go under within a short time. It will become trapped in the gates of the enemy. It will become in need of deliverance, and all kinds of help it can find. It is important that we led our lives according to divine wisdom. That is how we put it back into the hands of its giver; when we guide it with His wisdom.
He said in His word;
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.
Do not be like the horse or like the mule, Which have no understanding, Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, Else they will not come near you.
Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him.” Psalm 32:8-10 NKJV
One way to trust God is to put the Life He gave us back into His hands for governing. People who do that will be surrounded by God’s mercies. But those who do not will fill themselves with sorrow.
To put our lives back into God’s hands, the Bible says we must allow Him to instruct us and teach us the way we should go. There are ways we should not go. If we follow them our lives will begin to malfunction and depreciate. And only GOD knows those ways.
ONE WAY TO GO WITH THE LIFE GOD HAS GIVEN US IS TO GIVE IT TOTALLY AND WHOLEHEARTEDLY TO CHRIST.
Giving our life to Christ sanctifies our spirits to receive and retain divine wisdom from Him; a kind of wisdom that deposits our lives back into His hands to lead and to guide. When the human spirit is not sanctified, it clouds the spiritual senses of the person not to be able to pick divine wisdom from God, especially when one needs it.
One of the major things that clouds our human senses and prevents them from picking divine wisdom from GOD is sin. Sin is powerful enough to corrupt a man’s spiritual senses and render him wisdom deficient. It has a way of killing divine deposits and making it impossible for divine wisdom to go active in our hearts.
We must therefore learn to stay away from sin and embrace the fellowship of the Holy Spirit as believers. It is the fellowship of the Holy Spirit that makes wisdom available to us; Heavenly or divine wisdom that will get our lives back into the hands of its maker.
At this point, let me say something about a life build around constant fellowship with the Holy Ghost.
Fellowshipping with the Holy Ghost is made possible by His outpouring upon our lives. The outpouring brings the impartation we need to fellowship with Him. It brings His personality to our spiritual senses and helps us to relate with Him as a person.
The truth remains, you will quit seeing Him either as some oil in a bottle, some waters to be sprinkled upon you, or even an influence to submit to, or any other small and inanimate thing.
YOU WILL START SEEING HIM AS YOUR FRIEND, RECEIVING THE WISDOM TO GET YOUR BACK TO ITS MAKER.
It is at the level of friendship with Him that you will begin to enjoy His ministry as God’s Wisdom Bank, Kingdom Bank of Divine Wisdom. If you have not experienced His outpouring, you are missing. A major sign of the outpouring is the operating of divine wisdom in our lives.
Our devotional text gave us some principles to receiving the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. A major highlight in the text say;
“Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord…”
There are seven levels of prayer. The level of prayer that will bring you into the outpouring of the Holy Ghost is the seventh level.
Praying at each level of prayer is determined by the intensity of our hearts and our prophetic intelligence concerning the subject we are praying about. At the seventh level you operate all the principles outlined in our devotional text.
The first principle is calling unto God with a desire to reach Him; it could involve going away to a secluded place to seek Him. If you do, the Bible says God will listen to you. Then you begin the next phase of seeking Him based on the listening ear you have secured at the first level.
Then you seek Him until the Holy Ghost is poured out upon you. That was what the apostles did. Sadly, many Christians will remain with the symbol – the anointing oil – and not press into the substance – the Holy Ghost Himself.
The message of today devotional is simple; get your life back into the hands of its maker if you have not. Begin to govern it according to Heavenly wisdom. The Holy Spirit is there to help you.
