THE CRY OF THE SPIRIT DEVOTIONALS – BY RICHARD E. S. TAKIM

TODAY’S DEVOTION (TUESDAY 22ND OCTOBER 2024)

“Thus says the LORD of hosts: ‘In those days ten men from every language of the nations shall grasp the sleeve of a Jewish man, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.” ’ ” Zechariah 8:23 NKJV

WELCOME TO THE 296TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF IMPACT.

It is a great thing to be alive and well. He has given us another day to serve Him by serving our generation according to His will.

The best way to live your life is to live it serving people God has graced and called you to serve; people He has placed in your space to serve. That is why if you are not in a system where you are serving someone daily, you will be depressed.

Life is only beautiful when you identify your God given gift, skill or talent, and use it to serve others. That is where your peace, life progress, happiness, and fulfilment come from.

Talking about fulfilment, understand that you are either wasting your days or fulfilling them. If you are serving others, you are fulfilling your days. If you are not serving anyone, you are wasting your days.

Life is difficult for those who are wasting their days, especially by not serving others.

Yes, life is usually difficult for people who go about looking for help, instead of looking for how to be of help. It is those who look for how to be of help that progresses in life, not those who are always looking for help.

We are all called by God to serve others, to be of help to others, and not be going about looking for help. You will make yourself a liability in the life of others if you do not follow the principle of being of help to others in any way.

Be of help to that employee of yours, that boss of yours, that church member, that taxi driver, that little child crossing the road, that old woman or man finding it difficult one way or the other. Just decide to be a human being who help others, and you will never lack help in your own life.

Personally, I only find fulfilment when I serve others in the ways the LORD has called me to serve them. No matter what ill they throw at me, I still want to serve them and others. Something just drives me to keep being of help.

Maybe, that could be why I have never lacked help myself.

PEOPLE WHO DEVELOP A “CAN-I-BE-OF-HELP?” ATTITUDE, WILL NEVER LACK HELP IN THEIR OWN LIVES.

No matter how poor they might be, they will never be liabilities to anyone, but assets that cannot be dispensed with. In fact, they will become indispensable.

To be indispensable means to be absolutely necessary in other people’s lives. It means to be essential, or to be someone that cannot be set aside.

Strife to make yourself such a person by treating people well, especially people you are under, or those under you. Do not demand that people keep you in their space. Rather keep yourself in their space by developing your mind to become someone helpful to them.

No one will want to let any helpful person go. It is hurtful people others send away. Helpful people are always around the palace and the throne, yes, always around blessed places, serving and being served with the prosperity of the place.

So, make yourself indispensable – essential and absolutely necessary in other people’s lives.

Stop crying about rejection and not being treated well. Treat others well, and be helpful to them. If you do, you will never need to cry of anything, be alone, or in need, or poor in life, especially if you are in the space of people who are more blessed than you.

God did not create man to beg, but to be helpful.

This is a call to start making yourself indispensable – essential, or absolutely necessary – in your office, on your job, in ministry if you are called, in politics, if that is your field, as a student in the school, a child at home, a wife to a husband, a husband to a wife, a pastor to a church member, a parent to your child, an employee to your employer, and etc.

Start giving people what they will never get anywhere else, and they will stick to you forever. Yes, do it in such a way that if they leave you, they will have a vacuum in their lives that no one else can fill.

Make such a positive impact in their lives that time will always remind them of, when they eventually leave your space. That is the secret of living a fulfilled life. If you do not do that, you will be using manipulation to keep people. You will be building your security in people instead of God.

I SUBMIT TO YOU THAT IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE MANIPULATING PEOPLE TO STAY WITH YOU, THE BEST WAY IS NOT TO MANIPULATE THEM.

Just impact their lives positively, and you will be tired of having them around, so to speak. That is how to live a blesse life in an accurse world. It is God’s way of helping us become what He has called or created us to be, His serving hands to others.

Our devotional text says;

“Thus says the LORD of hosts: ‘In those days ten men from every language of the nations shall grasp the sleeve of a Jewish man, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.” ’ ” Zechariah 8:23 NKJV

There are people who pursue others and say to them, “come with me, please. Stay with me, or marry me, or allow me into your space.” This is a good thing, but not the best thing.

These ones will do so many things, either good or bad, to make people follow or be with them. They will tell terrible lies in the language or voice of truth, they will cheat, pretend, manipulate, and sometimes, engage in witchcraft or deception to make it happen.
But that is not the will of God for us.

For us in God’s kingdom, people are the one to come after us. God’s plan is that we so impact them with what He has put into our lives; our gifts, skills, talents and even treasures, that they would not want to go away.

He wants us to impact them so positively that they will look at us and say, “Let me go with you…” In other words, we are to impact them until we become absolutely essential or indispensable in their lives.

I reiterate again that you live your days being helpful, not hurtful to others. If you are helpful to people, they will not want you out of their lives.

Yes, if you develop an attitude of being helpful and serving people, until you become absolutely essential in their lives, God will bless you real big. Even if they do not make you essential, there will be people God will bring who will make you indispensable.

IT IS WHEN YOU BECOME INDISPENSABLE THAT YOU CAN BEGIN TO PROSPER.

The Bible teaches that people will come to the brightness of your rising and begin to make you wealthy. It is therefore important to understand that our economic state is heavily influenced by how helpful or hurtful we are to people.

Those who are hurtful, will lose jobs, marriages, great relationships, economic opportunities, the good will of others, kindness, privileges and etc. But those who are helpful will keep them all. Chose to be helpful, not hurtful.

Chose to serve people and be helpful to them and nothing else.
Now, when I say chose to be helpful to people, I am not saying you should live a life that seek to please everyone you find. That will make you a slave of people’s emotion.

What I am saying is, seek to satisfy people by being helpful to them. Seek to meet their needs according to your divine enablement.

Serve them with the gifts, skill, or talents that the LORD may have given you. Let them get something from you that they can not find anywhere else, and you will be treated as essential in their lives.

If you find yourself loosing good people in life, that is what to do to stop the scourge. Obey the call to serve others. If you are an employee, embrace the job you do as a call to serve your employer. If you are an employer, embrace working relationship with your staff as a call to serve them, also.

If you are a Husband, you are called to serve your wife and children, and if you are a wife, you are called to serve your husband and children. If you are a Parent you are called to serve your children. If you are a child, you are called to serve your parents. The list goes on.

Now, there are people who have more than their spouses, children and employees to serve. They serve much more people than that. It is my prayer that you find your place in the service chain of our God on the face of the earth, and begin to fulfill your days, by serving others. Amen!!

LET THE SCRIPTURE BE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR YOU TODAY

“And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.

And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand. And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand. Genesis 39:1-4 NKJV
