TODAY’S DEVOTION (SATURDAY 30TH NOVEMBER 2024)
“One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.” Psalm 27:4 NKJV
WELCOME TO THE 335TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF IMPACT.
With few days to go, we can say, the year was indeed our year of impact. There can be no good Impact without the Great God working out His will, power and ways in our lives. That was the impact we had.
The impact of His mercies, kindness, goodness, amazing grace, wonder moves of His Holy Spirit and etc.
It is the last day of the second to the last month of the year, it calls for joy and gratitude to the LORD. It calls for a reflection on the power of His greatness, compassion and all He is. Our faith has been built on His power all the year.
Our lives are a testimony that this great God does not do small things. He does great things, and greater things; making the paths of the uncompromising righteous, to shine brighter and brighter unto a perfect day!
He makes small people become great without losing their original size, so that they can always remember where He took them from. I tell people that when you see a small people looking or becoming great, it is because they are riding on the wings of God’s greatness.
He said in Isaiah 60:22, “A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation, I, the LORD, will hasten it in its time.” No small people remain small when they depend and ride on the wings of God’s greatness. I believe you are familiar with the story of a small David and a big giant. It is a story that has remain eternal in time.
It tells us what God can do with a small people who ride on the wings of His greatness. The Bible teaches that whenever God want to reveal Himself and demonstrate His greatness, He does not use great people, He uses small people.
The reason is obvious. If He use great people no one will see His greatness. He will always use small people so that all will see how great He is. That was the story of David!
The LORD is saying to someone reading this, “prepare, I want to use you to do great things. But I will not need you to be great. So, stop feeling inadequate. I need you to be the small you. That is the ideal size that is required.” Amen!!
FOR 40 DAYS A GIANT STOOD OVER A NATIONAL ARMY BOASTING AND THROWING OUT CHALLENGES AT THEM.
None could raise their heads against him. None could depend on a great God to confront him. The entire army of Israel shrank in fear and receded into their shells. Even the king could not depend on the anointing of God upon his life and take the risk.
But one day, a small boy came to the scene and changed everything. He came to give food and supplies to his brothers in the military with a perfect knowledge of how to depend on the great God. As the LORD will have it, he met an opportunity; an opportunity to reveal the Greatness of the God of Israel.
The Bible says he would go on to stand with His great God to defeat the giant to the amazement of everyone, with God telling the story, from generation to generation, to inspire others to believe Him like David did, and yield to His greatness so that the giants that protect the order of Satan in their age and time can be neutralized.
What is the revelation here? The revelation is simple. In the order of GOD, there are no generations of Giants. It is the order of Satan that has generations of Giants. There is always the Davidic generation, depending on God’s greatness, to defeat the giants that are protecting the order of Satan.
Whenever a big devil faces a small people, it is for God’s greatness to be revealed. The small people should not shrink in fear and run away. God allows big things to face His small people so that His greatness can be revealed through them. That must be understood by every people of God.
We survive the earth by depending on God not by engaging our strength always in battle. The Bible teaches that by strength shall no man prevail. You may be the smallest in your family, but serving the great God has killed your smallness.
You may be the smallest in your office, your city or business place; there may even be big devils and giants around you, roaring at you, and threatening fire and brim stone, please don’t panic. You are serving a great God.
You could be smaller then they all, just remember that the great God usually use small people to neutralize giants, just to reveal His greatness to men.
SO, STAND STRONG! HE WILL REVEAL HIS GREATNESS IN THAT BATTLE.
Now, when it comes to standing for God to reveal His greatness, there are key truths you must understand. You must understand that the key to standing strong in the face of big devils, or the giants of life, lies in the revelation of why Israel ran away from the giant, and why David stood.
Our devotional text revealed a part of David that Israel never had.
He was deeply intimate with God. That was what the king and his army never had. God is no respecter of persons, but a respecter of His precepts. You could be a king, or a prominent man, if you do not respect God’s precepts, a pauper who do, will get into the scene and achieve with God, what you cannot achieve.
David respected the precepts of God on matters of intimacy. He was intimate with God, but King Saul and the rest of Israel never respected it, hence were not men of intimacy with God. They never had the David kind of time with God.
It is important to note that David made the difference because he was a small man who spent hours communing with a great God. That was why He did great things. If you do the same, and allow Him to inflame your heart, you will be able to walk with Him and watch Him do great things with you.
No small man who commune with a great God, can ever remain small in the long run. Yes, no despised man who commune with the everlasting God will ever remain despised in life. A time will come when he will become the most sort after. Yes, he will see himself standing before great devils and demonstrating the greatness of God.
David remain a motivation in this respect. He remains one of the Bible lights of how to walk with the LORD and allow Him use you to do great things. His passion for the presence of God is written all over the book of Psalms. A major highlight in our devotional text says;
“One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.”
I believe the LORD has spoken to us. What is left now is application. If we apply what we just read, all will be well in 2025. It is my prayer that we will not ignore the great truths shared in this small piece, in Jesus’ precious name. Amen and amen.
MAKE THIS SCRIPTURE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR THE DAY
Then the Philistines went up once again and deployed themselves in the Valley of Rephaim.
Therefore, David inquired of the LORD, and He said, “You shall not go up; circle around behind them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees.
And it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall advance quickly. For then the LORD will go out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”
And David did so, as the LORD commanded him; and he drove back the Philistines from Geba as far as Gezer. 2 Samuel 5:22-25 NKJV
