TODAY’S DEVOTION (Thursday 15th May 2025)
Now the boy Samuel ministered to the Lord before Eli. And the word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no widespread revelation.
And it came to pass at that time, while Eli was lying down in his place, and when his eyes had begun to grow so dim that he could not see,
and before the lamp of God went out in the tabernacle of the Lord where the ark of God was, and while Samuel was lying down, that the Lord called Samuel. And he answered, “Here I am!” 1 Samuel 3:1-4 NKJV
WELCOME TO THE 135TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY
Glory be to the LORD God for giving us life and keeping us for 135 days of this year already. It has not been by might or by power, but by His Holy Spirit. We bless His holy name for all His goodness that has been running after us.
Our lives are a perfect testimony that if the goodness of the LORD is running after you, no one who is running after you will be able to catch up with you. They may have a better pace and speed, but they will never catch up with you. They will meet the goodness of the LORD, and it will take care of them.
Who are we speaking to this morning. I want to say to you, if anyone is on your case, do not worry. Just live your days according to God’s will for your life. Do not allow whatever they may be doing against you to distract you. The Bible says:
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.” Romans 8:31-33 NKJV
So, they may be smarter, venomous, dangerous, stronger, or faster in pace than you, or well organized against you, do not worry, just keep a righteous walk before the LORD, and always remember that the goodness of the LORD is running after you despite their running after you.
YES, HIS GOODNESS IS BETWEEN YOU AND THEM.
The battle is not between you and them, but between the goodness of God in your life and them. So, if anyone is pursuing you to kill, steal of destroy, they will not be able to catch up with you because when they enter your space, God’s goodness in your space will arrest their wicked intentions. God says in His word:
“I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” Exodus 33:19 NKJV
This scripture gave us additional ways that God’s goodness manifest in our space. There are seasons when God make His goodness pass before us so that those who may be against us might fall before us. This is what the enemy of our soul does not know.
The next thing He does not know is this; He does not know that once one is in covenant relations with the LORD, He will begin to make His goodness pass before the person. That is what we have been sharing. He will become gracious and compassionate to the person and make sure all the evil that may be running after the person in life does not catch up with the person.
Another thing the enemy does not know is how to handle people with God on their side. History has records of how he has been failing in this. The reason is obvious. He has always looked at their humanity, vulnerability, lifestyles and sometimes their sins. If you look at the people of God searching out for such, you will think God is against them.
The wrong thing to do to people with God on their side is to defame, demonize, attack, malign, slander, or attempt to destroy them. God will be patient for a while, making you think He is backing your deeds; you might even take the ill things you are doing against them as God’s assignment for your life.
THEN A TIME COMES WHEN HE WILL NO LONGER KEEP QUIET BUT MOVE LIKE A TRAVAILING WOMAN AGAINST THEM.
May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble. May He not allow the enemy to rejoice over you. May you always lead a life with Him by your side, in Jesus precious name. Amen!!!
Like I said earlier, the enemy has proven to be insensitive in the spirit. It seems he does not know how to tell if God is on the side of people. It seems he does not know that if God is on the side of people, you do not touch them.
From what I have seen in my life and ministry, I want to say, if the enemy knew God was on our side, I don’t think he would have attempted us. The history of what God has done to the enemy for touching those with Him on their side, would have stopped him from attempting us.
There is so much evil on earth. It is therefore important to note that we need God by our side, always, and God also need us by His side always. One cannot be without the other. In fact, the Bible teaches that if we want God to be by our side, we should seek to be by His side always.
Him being by our side, takes care of us and our lives on earth, but we being by His side, take care of His will and have a way of helping in establishing His ways on earth. May be this will be of help if I share it with us.
This morning my mind went in retrospect of things that took place in Nigeria between 1996 and 2006. It was a dark moment for the nation but there was one light shining from the altars of God’s voice all through that season of the life of that nation.
I remembered how God used just one prophetic voice to sustain righteousness in the Nation, confront evil both in the religious and political realm of the nation, and gave our young hearts direction in ministry and hope for a bright future where iniquity will not be our ruin. But between 2010 and 2015 this same man in one sweep destroyed all that GOD used him to do in the nation.
TODAY SORCERERS ARE EVERYWHERE CALLING THEMSELVES PROPHETS.
Our political landscape has been taken over by terrible political gladiators. Darkness has returned much more and faster than we ever imagined. If this man has not allowed a political ambition to creep into his fiery heart and gone into politics – if he had maintained his God given post in the Spirit, the light would not have gone out of the altars of God in Nigeria.
This story explains how much God need us to be on His side.
Whenever we are no longer on God’s side, in any small of major way, the manifestation of His plans and purposes will begin to dwindle and fold up. The darkness God sent away using our faith and fire; the faith and fire of standing on His side, will begin to return.
In the light of our devotional text, we can say, “light will fade out of His temple.”
Whenever the light goes out of the temple of God, Satan’s agenda will become more popular than God’s. It will even be made to succeed by people who God appointed to defend it. Today both the Church and the nation are in very dire states. Though the current leadership claims some forms of recovery, the reality says something different in so many areas.
Child of God, the word I am sharing about Nigeria is not political but prophetic. In God’s plan, the prophetic should shape the political, not the other way round. That was why kings were either enthroned or dethroned by the power of prophetic mantles in the days of the Bible.
Today we see those who claim to be prophets or voices of God organizing or instigating political protests when things are bad, going into politics themselves.
Friend, the word of the LORD this morning is clear. Heaven is calling us to get back to the place of being on God’s side and God being on our side. We should repent of any filthiness of the flesh and spirit and stop living lives that takes us away from God’s side. God needs the faith and fire we get by being on His side to turn things around in our dark world.
It is my prayer that we will hear His voice this morning. Amen!!!
