TODAY’S DEVOTION (Monday 26TH May 2025)
“If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its skill! If I do not remember you, let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth — if I do not exalt Jerusalem above my chief joy.” Psalms 137:5-6 NKJV
WELCOME TO THE 146TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY
Glory be to the Most High God for granting us mercies to get to the last week of the month. If the wings of God’s mercies are your transport facility, the journey will always be smooth. If His goodness is the fuel of your life, no life perils can ground you.
Whatever the LORD enabled us to experience from January to today, is a beautiful template of how the rest of the year will look like. We give Him all the glory!!!
Today we will be looking at things that usually make the council of Heaven to sit. It may interest you to know that getting us rich, defeating the rise of terrible enemies, our prayers, no matter how powerful they are, our sacrificial giving and all that, are not what make the council of heaven sit.
What makes the council of heaven sit is nothing but matters of divine destiny. Yes, the release of our eternal or prophetic destiny is the only thing that makes the council of Heaven sit.
The first time the council of Heaven sat over an earthly issue, as documented in scriptures, was after the creation of heaven and earth. When it was time to create man, the council sat and said:
…”Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” Genesis 1:26 NKJV
This is the first time the council of Heaven sat, and the agenda was to create man and have him unleash his destiny on earth. The creation of man was motivated by a pre-determined plan of God; it was an actualization of a divine agenda or destiny.
It means the council of Heaven does not sit when we need money, health, freedom, or victory in warfare. God can take care of all that without calling His council to sit. They are trivial matters. The council only sits when matters of destiny come up in our minds or in Heaven.
HEAVEN WILL ALWAYS STAND ON ITS FEET FOR PEOPLE WHO DESIRE TO SERVE THEIR GENERATION ACCORDING TO THE WILL OF GOD.
No matter what you may be going through therefore, if the fulfillment of your divine destiny is not at the center of it all, it will never make God’s Heavenly council to sit on your case. That is why God will first harmonize a man with His immediate present will before moving significantly in his life.
The Heart of God beats after men and women whose hearts are beating after their divine destiny. If you want God to set His eyes permanently on you, locate what He created you for and spend the rest of your life pursuing it.
There is a generation that Heaven is watching over; it is not the generation of prayer warriors. It is not even the generation of preachers. It is the generation of those who are mindful of their divine destiny and are busy with how to fulfill it. You can be a prayer warrior or preacher and not have anything to do with your divine destiny.
The generation of those who are busy with matters of their divine destinies are people who enjoy a special grace of divine attention. Before they call, God’s answers, and while they are still speaking, God hears.
The Bible teaches that living a life of repentance is one major ingredient our destiny will need to be fulfilled. The reason is because sin is one of the greatest paralyses of divine destiny in the spirit realm. Some of the most dangerous sins are secrets sins.
Secret sins are sins we commit and conceal from the view or knowledge of others. They can be very dangerous to people who are pregnant with prophecies; people heavily pregnant with the revelation of things God pre-planned them to accomplish on earth that are yet to be done.
I have come to discover that every Child of destiny who could not finish the race God set for him disappointed destiny because of either a secret sin or something close to it.
CERTAIN SINS HAVE A WAY OF NOT FORGIVING US EVEN AFTER GOD HAS FORGIVEN US.
Can you imagine Samson in Judges Chapter 16? God forgave him and restored back his hair, but sin did not forgive him. His ministry abruptly came to an end. He died a blind and frustrated warrior! Sins will make it impossible for people of destiny to end well. That is why a life of repentance is critical in our quest to unleash our destinies.
Now, aside avoiding secret sins to unleash our destinies, there is also the need to have what I will describe as the swiftness of an eagle if you want to unleash your destiny.
From our over 31 years of gospel ministry and over 36 years of active Christian life, with wealth of experience with moments of light and darkness, I have come to discover that a man’s divine destiny will need swift response to the responsibilities of his destiny or the word of the LORD for his life to be fulfilled.
There has been an un-necessary delay in the way some in God’s kingdom handle His call upon their lives.
Most do not care about stepping into destiny even when the LORD signals them to do so. But if men and women of destiny do not embrace what we call in the prophetic “the swiftness of an eagle” they will be swept and prevented from doing God’s will for their lives.
Our devotional text was an expression David passionately made in one of those spiritual sessions of his life. A major highlight in it says: “If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its skill! If I do not remember you, let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth..”
JERUSALEM WAS THE PLACE OF HIS DIVINE DESTINY.
His assignment was not actually to become king but to locate where the temple was appointed to be built before the ages began. Becoming King was an empowerment for him to fulfill the assignment. And that he did very well – he located and built Jerusalem – a major project that was part of his divine destiny.
As you can see in the devotional text, David attached his joy, skill, and power of speech to his response to divine destiny.
That means swift response to divine destiny has a way of bringing significance and increase to us. It has a way of protecting us in ways we may not understand. That is why it’s not safe to spend one moment of your life outside the things God may have assigned you to do on the face of the earth.
A story was told of a couple God called to be become missionaries to India many years ago. Dr. T. L. Osborn of blessed memory had just returned from India and some other missionaries too. One of them brought a report of how much India needed the gospel.
This couple sat in that meeting listening and after that the Holy Ghost said to the man “shut down what you are doing. I have called you to be a missionary to India.” But, like every Ahab husband does, he went to his wife for her consent. The woman told him; it cannot be God. We can’t go to that terrible place.
Day after day, week after week, and then month after month God kept reminding him. But he would not respond because the wife kept telling him that it was not possible to leave the comfort of America and go to India for missionary work. She suggested that they send money monthly to those there.
In fact, she threatened her husband that if he insists on going to India, she will divorce him. Sadly, the man chooses his marriage over his divine destiny and finally God stopped speaking to them and the consequences started speaking.
Whenever God stop speaking to a man who will not obey Him, the consequence of his rebellion will start speaking to him! The wife was the first to be hit. She caught cancer and died! Then a man of God came to tell the husband the reason why he lost his wife, and before he could get himself together to “Obey God” he caught cancer also and died.
ALL THESE HAPPENED AFTER YEARS OF NOT RESPONDING TO DIVINE DESTINY.
From these stories, I came to learn that death and all forms of evil will respond to those whose disobedience is hindering souls from being saved. For some, darkness will just fill their lives, and they will be busy here and there until the time to respond to God will be over.
Child of God, is your disobedience hindering souls from being saved? Are you really in God’s plan for your life? Are you one of those who pretend to be deaf to the voice of the LORD? God sent this word to wake you up, me, and everyone else.
You may have a fruitful relationship with God, be spending countless hours with Jesus Christ, behaving yourself wisely like David, and not plagued with the love of money or secret sins, but if you are not swift in your response to divine calls, you will lose the results of all your sacrifices and bring the terrible upon your life.
I pray for you today that you take away fear from your heart and embrace God. I pray that you understand what the will of the LORD for your life is, so that you can redeem the time because the days are evil.
I pray that you don’t become lazy or slothful in matters of divine destiny, but you become swift and responsive in Jesus precious name! Amen!!
