THE CRY OF THE SPIRIT DEVOTIONALS – BY RICHARD E. S. TAKIM

TODAY’S DEVOTION (Sunday 15th June 2025)

“Who are these who fly like a cloud, and like doves to their roosts?

“Surely the coastlands shall wait for Me; and the ships of Tarshish will come first, to bring your sons from afar, their silver and their gold with them, to the name of the Lord your God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because He has glorified you.” Isaiah 60:8-9 NKJV

WELCOME TO THE 166th DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY

Here we are again with a gift of another day. What a great day to be alive and well. What a time to be born.

It’s another Sunday, always the happiest day of my week. It’s been the happiest day of the week for me since I turned seven. I will be 49 this month. It means for a period of 42 years; Sundays have been the best days of my week. The reason is obvious!!

As a Christian, it’s the day of having a foretaste of how Heaven will look like as we assemble in our local churches to fellowship, hear the word and submit to His will for the week.

Our generation is one of the most blessed of all generations that God created. But evil is trying to eat us up and turn us into the worst. The sons of light must respond by sitting with Jesus Christ without compromise. Yes, we are to sit with this TRUE LIGHT, the LIGHT OF THE WORLD, absorbing His light and shining it to the darkness that is eating up our generation.

Every generation has a time and a season allocated to it by God to live on earth. If you read the book of Ecclesiastes chapter three verse one, you will discover that whenever the words time and season are mentioned, if you look properly, you will find purpose sandwiched in-between.

If a generation has a time and season allocated to it by GOD, then it also has a purpose allocated to it by GOD.

Evil will always try to eat up every generation primarily to stop or neutralize it from serving the purpose God allocates it to serve. Our generation has its own GOD allocated purpose for the time and season allocated to us. I remember a generation that was born and allocated a purpose to show to the world that mankind was trapped in spiritual slavery and needs redemption.

It was given, not just one time, but times and seasons to fulfill that purpose and they did.

THAT GENERATION WAS THE GENERATION OF THE SONS OF JACOB WHO SPENT HUNDREDS OF YEARS IN EGYPTIAN SLAVERY.

Come to think of it, Children were born in slavery, raised in slavery, and died in slavery during those horrific days. They were born to see slavery as the way of life. If they had any chance to be Educated, courses on becoming a successful slave would have been the discipline to pursue.

They would have graduated with degrees in slavery because that was what their world was shaped to be. That was their purpose.

But in the fullness of time God raised a man in the person of Moses to stand before Him and enforce their freedom from Egypt and her gods. That was a template of GOD Himself coming down to demand our liberty from the devil and all his works. So, they served their generation as captives in Egypt, making it clear that matters of prophetic purposes are not always attractive.

Yes, the purpose you might be called to serve might not be attractive in human terms, but you must serve it.

When Jesus said, “it is finished” it was really finished! In a prophetic sense, that generation was God’s missionary team to Egypt, born to slave and die so that the world will be made to know that we are all slaves to sin and Satan and needs a savior in the person of Jesus Christ to be liberated and set free forever.

Every generation of God’s people will have its own divine destiny or purpose to fulfill within the time and season that GOD has given them.

It will have its own part to play in God’s big redemptive plans for mankind. A generation that cannot sense its part and purpose within the time and season that GOD has allocated to it and submit to His will, will end up becoming a wasted generation by God’s definition. There is a purpose you were born to serve, do not let what you might be going through keep you busy till you die.

YOU WILL DIE A WASTED GENERATION IF YOU DO. SO, PLEASE DON’T.

In the ministry of the Cry of the Spirit Devotionals, June is a month for looking at matters of Divine Destiny and allocated purposes of God for our lives – purposes tied to the times and season that the LORD has given us.

The average human often talks about marriage, money, women, men, and all kinds of things that borders us, but do not often spend quality time talking about the purposes God’s has allocated to us to serve within the time and season of our lives on earth.

But someone needs to tell us that our ears belong to such eternal matters, not the mundane we often tune them to.

The purposes that constitute our destinies are bigger than marriage matters. They are bigger than money or Church matters. The purposes that constitute our destinies are matters of the Kingdom of the Eternal God who created us. They consist of His eternal plans for us, things that were divinely predetermined to be fulfilled by us both in time and eternity.

The greatest joy of the devil is to keep us ignorant of them, then turn our focus to things that do not matter and stir us to dispense our energies, making them the center of our lives.

Satan is a master at giving us passions and purposes to pursue that have nothing to do with our destinies in Christ. He will use a loss or an adversity to birth in us things we think are our assignments on earth, only to get to the evenings of our lives to discover we were wrong all the time.

I pray that someone in the wrong lane of life will wake up this morning, instead of continuing their lives on the wrong lane and getting to the evening of it, only to discover that he or she was wrong.

WE MUST WAKE UP TO ACCURATE REVELATIONS OF THE THINGS GOD WANT TO DO WITH OUR LIVES.

Yes, we must understand that there is a purpose God wants us to live our days serving. We must come to the knowledge of that purpose, because those are the things God designed to be the compass of our earthly lives. They are to be to us what a Compass is to a ship.

They are to be the control tower of our Christian life.

We are to be in constant touch with them until our days are over. If we do not stay in constant touch with them, our lives will be like an aircraft with no constant touch with its control tower.

The purposes we are created to serve constitute the content of our prophetic destiny. God designed such things should form the core of our human lives on earth.

If they do not, we will live lives that will be a playground of demons and all the problems they create. We will not be able to fly above principalities and powers like the clouds fly above the ground. A major highlight in our devotional text says:

“Who are these who fly like a cloud, and like doves to their roosts?

This scripture is referring to the altitude we gain in Christ if we live our days serving the purposes we are born to serve. Samson was at this height in the Spirit until his focus changed.

His divine destiny was to be a Nazirite unto GOD and use that position to unleash the supernatural power of God that was needed to deliver Israel from the hands of the philistines. When Samson was in constant touch with the revelation of this prophetic purpose, he was flying high.

I guess, like our devotional asked, some onlookers may have asked “who is this man that is flying with such an amazing altitude?” However, it was not too long, Samson lost touch with matters of his assignment on earth and began to take decisions that were opposite them; consequently, his hair was shaved, consecration deleted, and altitude lost.

HE WOULD GO ON TO FALL SO BADLY THAT HE WOULD BECOME A PRISONER IN THE CAMP OF HIS ENEMIES.

That is the devil’s plan for every one of us. But thank God, His mercy showed up again after his deep repentance, and his consecration was restored. Then with the little altitude he regained, he would go ahead to kill more of God’s enemies in his death than he killed for a lifetime.

What is the message this morning? The message is simple. It says,

“do not lose touch with matters of your divine destiny, it is not the will of God for your life to do so. Fix your gaze on them.” God said to Habakkuk then, and He is saying to us now:

…”Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. …For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, It will not tarry (Habakkuk 2:2-3 NKJV).

Friend, if you make the word of the LORD to you this morning your meditation, your life will never remain the same. It does not matter what people call you, God calls you a blessing. He calls you a blessing to your generation.

Some have lived like a curse because they lived their lives making life decisions without consulting their control tower. That should change from today. Open talks with the Holy Spirit on the purpose you were born to serve. Then retrace your steps and be what GOD created you to be – a blessing to your generation! Amen.

MAKE THIS SCRIPTURE AN ADITIONAL MEDITATION FOR THE DAY

“Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the LORD, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.

If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land;
But if you refuse and rebel, You shall be devoured by the sword”; For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.
