TODAY’S DEVOTION (Tuesday 15th July 2025)
“So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.”
“Therefore I have poured out My indignation on them; I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath; and I have recompensed their deeds on their own heads,” says the Lord God. Ezekiel 22:30-31 NKJV
WELCOME TO THE 196th DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY
This is the day the LORD has made; we shall rejoice and be glad in it. Marvelous are His works. That our souls know very well!
Today can be likened to midday of the seventh month of the year. There is a rhema word for you and a blessing attached to the word that you must receive. The Word of the LORD is usually a transport facility.
As some of you may have known, seven in God’s numbering represents completion, perfection, or maturity. It is the number of God. Seven also represents the number of God’ rest; God created the world for 6 divine days and rested on the seventh divine day.
That is why the greatest blessing available in the kingdom is the blessing of rest. God does not want us tossed here and there by falsehood peddled by ignorant and greedy preachers. He does not want us driven by every wind of doctrines. He wants us established in Christ and to have our rest in Him.
In figurative sense, that was the blessing most of the Israelites missed in their walk with God. They got miracles, economic and marital blessings. They got the blessings of Childbearing and many other blessings but missed this one blessing – the blessing of REST.
We have been looking at the things our destiny needs to be fulfilled. If there is any more thing that our destiny needs to be fulfilled is the blessing of rest. People who did not enter their rest will never fulfill their destiny.
The generation of the Jews who left Egypt did not make it to the promise land, except for Joshua and Caleb, because of they did not enter their rest. You will never make it to the promise land of fulfilling your destiny, if you do not enter your rest.
YOU MAY GET MARRIED, BEAR CHILDREN, GET MONEY BUT STILL NOT FULFILL YOUR DESTINY.
The blessing of rest is beyond getting married, having children, money, or having our names everywhere as a fame. The blessing of rest begins from rest having rest from the penalty and practice of sin, then rest from sorrows and ends with the third dimension of rest, which is eternal rest with Christ.
All kinds are needed for the release of both our prophetic and eternal destiny.
Let’s look at rest from sorrows. If there is no rest from sorrows in your life, whatever you have, marriage, money, fame, children, etc. will become a pain in your neck. Haven’t you seen people we see as blessed having no rest from sorrows? That tells us a lot about the blessing of rest.
It is a shalom Dimension, the very dimension Jesus gave the early Church that successfully saw them through terrible persecutions and trials. It gave them perfect peace during terrible storms. It powered them to fulfill their destiny even in the most terrible situations.
It simply gave them a table in the presence of their enemies. That is what we all need to fulfill our destinies!!!
Sadly, the blessing of rest is the very blessing many in the Church today are yet to come into. That is why you still find believers queueing for deliverance, prayers, breakthroughs, and all that. The devil keeps them troubled, restless, sick, etc.
The early church was not trapped in these sorrows despite the persecutions they faced. They had rest from these sorrows. But our church generation is so trapped that majority of Church goers go to Church basically to be free from their enemies, instead to know God and be intimate with Him.
It is sad to see that there is a huge difference between the current Church and the early church. Most departments of the end time Church today are not facing persecutions or trials of faith. Our nations are not telling us not to serve Jesus; neither are they putting us in prisons for serving Him.
We were supposed to unlock a higher glory on our earth than they did, but we are far from even 10 percent of what they did.
THERE IS SO MUCH THAT IS MISSING IN OUR CHURCH AGE.
Concerning the generation of the nation of Israel that could not come into the blessing of God’s rest, the Bible says:
Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, in the day of trial in the wilderness, where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, and saw My works forty years.
Therefore I was angry with that generation, and said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, and they have not known My ways.’ So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.'” Hebrews 3:7-11 NKJV
From this scripture it’s clear that they could not come into God’s true rest because as the scripture put it, they always went astray in their hearts, had no intimate knowledge of God. This is a perfect description of the Church of our generation.
It captures the identity of many of us who profess to be born again. That is why there can be no rest in our lives. Our heart conditions are not sound hence our rest condition is troubling. We go astray in our hearts but stay faithful with our mouth. No one can fulfill destiny that way.
No one can become what God preplanned them to become that way!! The words of our mouths and the states of our hearts must be acceptable to God for us to have the rest we need to release our destinies.
Understand that people who do not know God; who go astray in their hearts; even if their mouths are presenting them to be a people who love the LORD with the whole of their hearts, will never come into God’s rest until their hearts become right in God’s sight. God does not give rest to everyone who calls on His name, He only gives rest to all who call upon His name with a pure heart.
He may give them relief but will never give them rest until they learn to call upon His name with a pure heart. Until they seek Him with a heart that is perfect towards Him. If their hearts are not perfect towards God, their lives cannot receive God’s kind of rest.
YES, THE BIBLE TEACHES THAT WE MUST ALL HAVE A HEART THAT IS PERFECT TOWARDS GOD. THE GRACE OF GOD IS THERE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!!
What does it mean to have a heart that is perfect towards God? It means to have a heart that is completely devoted to God, loyal in its obedience, and trusting Him above all else. It means to have a heart that is right with God, committed without reservation, and dedicated solely to Him, without areas of compromise or divided loyalty.
It means to have a heart that is wholeheartedly focused on God’s will and desires. In Prophetic numbering, it means to have a number seven heart. That brings us again to the number seven; the Bible number that communicates perfection and completion.
The Bible says we should be perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect. In other words, we should have the number seven heart.
This may not mean a state of holiness that matches God’s. That we will achieve when we get to heaven, because living in this body of sin makes that impossible because of the sin that lives in us all.
The Bible says we should have a perfect heart towards God because that is possible while we are here. Yes, it is possible by the help of God!!
It is a measure of righteousness we achieve by the grace that was supplied to us on the cross and by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, who is here to help us achieve the goal of having a heart that is always perfect towards the LORD so that we can enter into His rest for our lives and unleash our divine destinies.
What is now left is this: How many of us believers are willing to pay the price to have the Holy Spirit in the measure that is required for us to always have a heart that is perfect towards God? How many of us are willing to allow Him to lead us to die to the unclean, the mundane, and the unhelpful that is helpful to the gratification of the flesh?
How many of us are willing to allow Him to strip us of things we have attached ourselves to that are beneficial to us but are killing us spiritually? How many of us are willing to allow Him to lead our flesh to the cross to die to its works, the way He led Jesus Christ to the cross to die for our sins? Very few!!
That is why very few will be having rest!! But you can decide to join the few so that you will have this great blessing that you need to fulfill your destiny!!!
LET THIS SCRIPTURE BE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR YOU TODAY.
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.”
“He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.”
“If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.” John 12:24-26 KJV
