TODAY’S DEVOTION (Wednesday 16th July 2025)
“So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?”
He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed My lambs.”He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love You.” He said to him, “Tend My sheep.”
He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?”
And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep. John 21:15-17 NKJV
WELCOME TO THE 197TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY
It is noticeably clear in this scripture that the primary need of everyone who has given his or her life to Christ in every Church generation is spiritual food. It is not prayers, fasting, giving, or singing, as good as those may be, but quality spiritual food.
Jesus presents spiritual feeding as the primary assignment of every preacher.
Over the years, the Spirit of the LORD has taught me to feed God’s people well, and make sure they eat the best available in the word so that they will offer God quality worship, fulfill their destinies, and live lives that no devil can feed on.
I learnt that until the people of God are properly fed spiritually, they will not be able to get results in prayer, fasting or any other act of worship. They will not be able to synchronize with divine will, ways or patterns. They will above all, synchronize with the early Church that is now in the clouds of many witnesses.
When it comes to that beautiful synchronicity, it is important to note that, God’s Power, resulting in healing, deliverance, and dominion over sin, will always break out on us each time we sing or worship in synchronicity with the Church in Heaven as the church on earth.
BUT ALL THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE WITHOUT SOUND AND PROPER SPIRITUAL FEEDING.
Jesus indeed demonstrated the importance of feeding His sheep with quality spiritual food when He asked Peter those questions as if He was talking to a deaf man. We have been revisiting matters of God’s Rhema word this month and our focus today is on spiritual hunger and lack of spiritual food in the Church today.
Malnutrition is not a good thing. Most diseases spring up in life because people are not properly fed naturally. In the same way, all spiritual problems can be traced to lack of quality spiritual food in the lives of men.
Many cannot stay married because they are malnourished spiritually. Others are poor, and every effort they make to break from it through tithing and sowing seeds, have proved abortive, showing us that it is not just about giving but feeding spiritually.
It is important to note that we cannot break from poverty into the prosperity of the righteous if we are not properly fed spiritually. At most we will break from poverty, but like we see in the lives of many Christians today, step into the prosperity of the wicked or that of a fool.
Understand that it takes being fed with sound doctrine to break from poverty and come into the prosperity of the righteous. Any other thing you feed on might break you free from poverty, but you will never step into the prosperity of the righteous.
When you read God saying to us through these devotionals “man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” you have heard God blaming all our woes, in and outside the church, on lack of good spiritual food. You have also seen the solution of heaven to the myriads of problems facing mankind.
We have been looking at things that our divine destinies need to be fulfilled, one of them is solid spiritual food. If you are not placed in a spiritual food house and blessed with a servant Of God He called and anointed to feed His people with choice spiritual food, you might not fulfill your destiny.
AT BEST YOU WILL FULFIL A DISTORTED VERSION OF YOUR PROPHETIC DESTINY, NOT WHAT IT REALLY IS.
Sadly, so many great men and women of destiny are under preachers who are motivating them but not feeding them, as God designed it to be. Great warriors for the end time move of God are in churches where people are fooled and religious politics played, not where the spirits of just men are made perfect through spiritual feeding.
I remember a warrior of righteousness I met in Kenya when we first came.
If you look at him then, you can tell this one has something significant to do in God’s kingdom this end time. But he was trapped in a church that was not feeding Him with what his destiny needs to be fulfilled on the one hand, and a terrible marriage on another.
I felt like asking him to leave the church but did not because they thought I was stealing a sheep when they saw me talk with him repeatedly.
I also expected him to receive a word from the LORD to follow me, but he did not. I took him to the potter’s house (so to speak) through in-depth teachings I gave him alone. I did that severally, like God took Jeremiah but he still did not hear from the LORD that he needed to leave that church and follow me like the disciples of John left him and followed the new move that the LORD brought.
Sadly, we lost contact and the next thing I heard happened to him was terrible. He left the church, left his wife and left faith completely. He was so zealous but had no strength to withstand what he was facing. His lack of proper spiritual food was responsible. I felt so bad.
I said to myself maybe I did not do enough. I should just have asked him to follow me and damned the consequences. Maybe he would have been in the field by now. His story pains me a lot each time I remember.
I believe someone reading this needs to move to our ministry or any other one available, and he or she needs to do that swiftly so that he or she can begin to feed on what will make him or her release their destiny.
THIS WORD IS EXTREMELY PROPHETIC AND CAN ONLY BE PREFERRED BY THOSE WHO KNOW!
Yes, someone need to let go what people may say and take a step out of that so called leadership position that is a ship position, which in scriptural and eternal point of view, is leading to nowhere in Christ.
I believe someone need to damn the consequence and leave where they are not fed and join a rich food house, either in person or online, and be prepared for God’s end time move in and through them.
Friend, God designed that our spiritual and natural wellbeing for the release of destiny be sourced from proper spiritual feeding not tapping into an anointing, raising an altar, silencing an altar, breaking an altar or sowing a seed. That is one of His redemptive plans. That was why He was resounding to Peter the “feed my lambs” and “tend my sheep” mandate.
Without proper feeding, there cannot be proper tending.
To tend simply means to care, and the only way you can care properly is to feed the sheep properly. It is in their tending that they become the lions God destined them to be, taking over territories for the LORD. Hence Jesus saying, “feed my lambs” “tend my sheep” “feed my sheep.”
Those are the major highlights in our devotional text today that should get your attention.
If you are part of the flock of Jesus and you are under a church or ministry that may be scooping all kinds of financial support from you, asking you to give all the money but is not feeding you with proper spiritual food, a time is going to come that you will hate anything called church, pastor, prophet, apostle or etc. because you will suffer the plague of spiritual malnutrition and die spiritually over time.
Sadly, many are in awfully bad shape in marriages, finances, faith, social life, health etc. because they are spiritually famished.
MANY PEOPLE IN CHURCH TODAY HAVE LOST THE WILL AND GRACE TO RESIST SIN DUE TO SPIRITUAL MALNUTRITION.
They have lost the grace to seek God above everything else for the same reason. Sometimes we preachers fall into sin because we feed the people but do not take time to feed ourselves. We feel like giving up in the heat of battle because we do not leave the sheep for a moment and take time out to feed ourselves too.
One of the challenges we usually have is this; you can’t feed yourself with the food you feed the sheep. You may taste it to know if it has a good spiritual taste but to feed yourself into greater strength and stature, you will need something more than what you feed the sheep with.
Getting it can be a challenge if you are in the apostolic like some of us.
At one time, Elijah wanted to give up too. He went ahead and committed suicide hypothetically, by asking God to kill him. He lost the sense of self worth and said he was not better than his fathers who must have failed God in one way or the other, that God should kill him.
But the response of God to all that was shocking. God did not kill him but sent food. That means his problem was not Jezebel, or abandonment. His problem was food.
He had been feeding the entire nation with “thus says the LORD” but he had no food for himself. God gave him food that day and he went on to raise a generation of prophets whose prophecies and prophetic ministry were canonized to be part of the Bible.
That was a future that would have been buried if God had killed Him. It was a part of his destiny that would not have been fulfilled if God had not fed him.
If you say you do not need spiritual food either as a sheep or a shepherd, you are deluded. Every sheep needs food to fulfill its destiny as a lion, and every shepherd needs spiritual food to raise the flock into lions. That is the word of the LORD!!
MAKE THIS SCRIPTURAL VERSE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR THE DAY!!
“But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a lone broom or juniper tree and asked that he might die. He said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am no better than my fathers.
As he lay asleep under the broom or juniper tree, behold, an angel touched him and said to him, Arise and eat. He looked, and behold, there was a cake baked on the coals, and a bottle of water at his head. And he ate and drank and lay down again.
The angel of the Lord came the second time and touched him and said, Arise and eat, for the journey is too great for you. So he arose and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and nights to Horeb, the mount of God.” 1 Kings 19:4-8 AMPC
