TODAY’S DEVOTION (THURSDAY 9th October 2025)
“I will bless the Lord, who has given me counsel; yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons. I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Therefore, my heart is glad and my glory [my inner self] rejoices; my body too shall rest and confidently dwell in safety, For You will not abandon me to Sheol (the place of the dead), neither will You suffer Your holy one [Holy One] to see corruption.
You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore. Psalms 16:7-11 AMPC
WELCOME TO THE 282ND DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY
Today’s devotional text is taken from yesterday’s text, and that is not a mistake. What the presence of the LORD has done in our lives this year alone is amazing. The text captured the full expression of what God has done more than anyone we can find at this time.
There could be others, but for now we hold on to this. God will never allow His holy ones to see corruption. He would always come through for them. He will always make sure they see no moral decay.
Child of God, from what I have seen this year alone I can say, truly, man was not originally designed to be sustained by man. Man was designed to be sustained by the presence of the LORD. If the presence of the LORD is not at work in your life, even the presence of people will add no value to your life.
For instance, no man can protect another from moral decay of hell or any other form of corruption from the enemy of our souls. A man may put few monies in your pocket to sustain you financially for a while, but generational sustenance comes from God. That is why the arm of flesh may sustain one for a while but ultimately fail at the end.
Sometimes, it does not fail because the arm became wicked or unkind over time, it fails because of its frailty. It fails because a man needs to be sustained by God to be able to offer help to another man. If there is no sustenance for him from God, he will not be able to sustain another man.
Sadly, sometimes when it fails, we become upset with the people who own that arm that was sustaining us. But we forget what the Bible says. We forget that man is too frail to sustain another man, especially for too long. We forget that man was created to be sustained by the Omnipotent God.
The omnipotent God is the only one who can sustain man, period!!
The import of all these is, you were not designed to depend on any man, not even an anointed man of God. Let no one deceive you. You were designed to be sustained by God. You were designed to depend on God.
The issue of having an anointed man stand between you and God was buried on the cross. Exhuming it will ruin you at the end. Sadly, many preachers have bullied there way into people’s souls and have turned many into their spiritual dependents, but that is not the will of God.
THE ANOINTING OF GOD ON SOMEONE IS TO ENABLE THE PERSON TO FUNCTION, NOT TO REPLACE GOD IN YOUR LIFE.
Preachers who make you run after them for sustenance are not helping you. Yes, apostles, prophets etc. who make you depend on their prayers, prophecies, grace and anointing are hurting you badly. You will realize this any day the devil considers you.
That is why they either run, or blame your sin, or deceive you in one way or the other when real spiritual warfare breaks out in your life. When you face things that only your relationship with God can help you out, you will find their prophecies, prayers, anointed prayer clothes, and all they tell you can do wonders in your life failing. The deliverance services will no longer work!!
Child of God depending on God, especially every day of your life, will save you in time of war. But depending on an anointed man of God, may not save you. It has not saved many. That is why you find people leaving such churches today.
The life of Job has a lot to teach us in this regard. The day Satan considered Job, it was Job’s dependency on God that saved Him. He said to his friends, “I know my redeemer liveth.” He did not say, “I know my prophet liveth, and will save me.”
His life teaches us not to join the craze of running after an anointed man of God for sustenance, their holy oils, water, prayer clothes etc. His life teaches us to run after God who gives all men the anointing to function and serve Him. He ran after God until he became intimate with Him, thereby having the power to survive the terrible trial he faced.
The Bible says:
“Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.” Daniel 11:32 NKJV
THE WORD KNOW IN THIS SCRIPTURE REFERS TO INTIMATE KNOWLEDGE.
If you run after God, you will come into the place of knowing Him or having an intimate knowledge of Him. You will come to the place where you will begin to experience Him as your Omnipotent God, the place where His presence will be keeping you in a state of being always powerful, strong, and prevailing.
If you run after God, you will close any distance that exits between the two of you and come into the place of deep intimacy with Him, hence having His sustaining power running your life. People who are intimate with the omnipotent God are usually powered to operate as omnipotent men and women.
The word Omnipotent means “always powerful” or “always potent.” That is the word that tells us how always powerful God is. A word that helps us understand that our GOD has no capacity to come to an end. Hallelujah!!!
If we bind ourselves together with Him, or become deeply intimate with Him, we will become omnipotent as well, we will lose the capacity to come to an end. Our marriages will not come to an end. Our financial prosperity will not come to an end, our peace will not come to an end, our life progress will not come to an end.
No devil on earth will be able to bring our blessings, joy, and things that give our lives a meaning to an end. Hallelujah!!! The Bible says, “Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end..” (Isaiah 9:7 NKJV)
If you look at the life of Job, you will see exactly what we are ‘talking’ about. After all the attempt to bring Job to an end, Satan was the one whose attacks came to an end in the life of Job. The man would later have twice all he ever had and life. He never came to an end but rather became twice what he was before Satan tried to put him to an end.
The Bible says:
“Now the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys.
He also had seven sons and three daughters.” Job 42:12-13 NKJV
ALL THAT HAPPENED BECAUSE HE WAS WALKING WITH THE OMNIPOTENT GOD, THE GOD WHO DOES NOT COME TO AN END.
I reiterate again that if you walk with the God who does not come to an end, the great things He does in your life or through your life will not come to an end. He will bless your later years more than your beginning days. That is the heritage.
Look at Abraham for example. He died thousands of years ago, but he has still not come to an end, both in time and eternity. We still talk about him, enjoy his blessings and lots more. That is the same heritage we share. All we need to do is to trust in the LORD or entrust ourselves in His hands.
The Bible says:
“So trust in the Lord (commit yourself to Him, lean on Him, hope confidently in Him) forever; for the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages]” Isaiah 26:4 AMPC
You must commit yourself to Him through consistent righteous prayers, lean on Him by consulting His Holy Spirit before making decisions, and hope confidently in Him by building unbroken reliance on Him. The reason for all this is simple; man was not designed to be sustained by man. Man was designed to be sustained by God.
He was designed to be an omnipotent force, powered by the Omnipotent GOD. Hallelujah!!! An omnipotent force is a force that is always powerful, successful, progressing, prosperous, victorious etc. That is what God designed us to be. But it all lies in how we relate with the Omnipotent God.
Sadly, so many do not know that to be sustained by God does not necessarily happen by just giving an offering or going to Church. To be sustained by God only happen when we trust in Him, and trusting in Him will involve “setting the LORD always before us” and making sure He is at our right hand.
A HIGHLIGHT IN OUR DEVOTIONAL TEXT SAYS,
“I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.” Psalm 16:8
You can go to church or give an offering, even sacrificially, without setting the LORD always before you, or making sure He is at your right hand. But you cannot set the LORD always before you and make sure He is at your right hand without doing both unconditionally.
The Bible made it clear that that is the only way to survive an unstable world like ours.
You may have heard or read that God is our “Rock” but have not experienced Him as Such. Well, we can only see His manifestations in our lives as the Rock when we “set Him always before us” and make sure “He is at our right hand all the time.”
People who experience the LORD as the ROCK do not fail in life.
They do not labor in vain and bring forth trouble. Even if they fall seven times, they have a way of bouncing back with greater glory. It is the manifestation of GOD as the ROCK in our lives that prevents us from sinking under the perils of life. It is what helps us to rise back to our feet and step into greater blessings or glory, like Job did.
To set the LORD always before you simply mean to “make Him your focus and highest priority in life.” And to make sure He is at your right hand is to “seek His will concerning any direction or decision you want to take in life before taking them.” It’s as simple as that! If you do both, you will enjoy the best of His Omnipotence.
Friend, it really pays to set the LORD always before you and to make sure He is at your right hand all the time. It’s my prayer that you begin to enjoy the blessing in its fullness in Jesus precious name! AMEN!
LET THIS SCRIPTURE BE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR US TODAY!!!
“Now when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. And David heard of it and went down to the stronghold.
The Philistines also went and deployed themselves in the Valley of Rephaim. So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?”
And the Lord said to David, “Go up, for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hand.” 2 Samuel 5:17-19 NKJV
