TODAY’S DEVOTION (MONDAY 13TH October 2025)
“We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.”

WELCOME TO THE 286TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY
Today we want to talk to us about divine covering and divine backing. We live in a season of evil, so much evil that if God is not with us every inch of the way, we will be doomed. Things are happening so fast and so bad that if God’s backing is not active in a man’s life, that life will be put out in darkness.
But I have come to discover that in the battle of life, the evil on earth and the devils that create them are not always the problem, lack of divine covering or backing in our lives is always the problem. If we live under divine cover and can secure divine backing in anything we may be doing or are involved in, God will move swiftly against whatever comes against us.
Oh, how much we need divine covering and backing today!
The single need divine backing to get married. The married need divine covering to stay married. The poor need divine backing to become rich. The rich need divine covering to remain rich. The threatened needs divine covering or backing to overcome what or who may be threatening them.
Divine covering and divine backing are a necessity of life! In a chaotic world like ours, if you are not covered and backed by God you will be beaten by hell.
Divine covering is God’s supernatural protection and refuge for His people, programs, plans and purposes. It offers safety from harm, emotional stability and spiritual protection. You need this more than money or anything on earth.
If you do not have it, your enemies will take you out in seconds. President Donald Trump of the United States is alive today because of divine covering. The assassination attempt he escaped happened because of divine covering. There would have been no Donald Trump today without divine covering. Meaning, there would have been no peace in the middle east today.
YOUR DESTINY CANNOT BE FULFILLED WITHOUT DIVINE COVERING AND DIVINE BACKING.
Divine backing on the other hand is God’s supernatural support. It is Heaven’s support system against earth’s dangers. I define it as God standing by man in every endeavor of his life. It is supernatural support from a loving God to a people targeted by their enemies, or a people who seek Him.
It is God standing by you as a ‘Mighty Terrible One’ to help you come out victoriously in the battles of life.
You will need both divine covering and divine backing to live a blessed or significant life on earth. When Jesus was in the flesh as man He never did anything without divine covering and backing. He was able to raise the dead, heal the sick, come out of terrible storms, walk upon the water and do all He did because the Bible says, “God was with Him.”
God was with Him backing and covering him all through. If God is with you nothing can successfully be against you. Divine backing is God being with you! If God is with you, it does not matter who is not with you. If God is with you, He will take over your battles, showing Himself mighty on your behalf. You will just stand by to pick the spoils of war.
Divine backing is God taking over to show himself mighty on your behalf in the battles of life. While divine covering is God shielding you to pick the spoils of war.
Again, concerning the redemptive sacrifice, the Bible made it clear that Jesus prayed and cried unto the Father (His source) with strong cries. The Bible says He cried to Him who is able to save Him from Death. The result was the release of divine backing and covering to go through crucifixion.
On the third day after His crucifixion and burial, He came out of the grave victoriously, freeing us from the pangs of spiritual, eternal and natural death forever. That is why today, to those who are saved and spirit filled, death is no longer a threat but a horse to use in ridding to the next life!
ALL THAT HAPPENED BECAUSE GOD WAS WITH HIM.
If God is not with you, it does not matter who is with you. The point I am making is this; if Jesus needed divine backing and covering to pay the ultimate sacrifice and do the will of God, we will be foolish not to crave for divine backing in anything we may want to do in His kingdom or divine covering over our lives.
In the world we live in today, you will crash and come out terribly beaten without divine backing. The enemy will hinder you on all fronts! It will take divine backing and covering to do anything meaningful on the face of the earth today.
Every exploit in your life will come because the LORD backs you and His presence covers you. If the LORD is not backing you and His presence covering you, it will be impossible for you to break through the gates of hell and get anything significant done on earth.
The covering of God will protect you and yours from harmful things we see and the ones we do not see. It will make sure no weapon formed against you prosper. It will go into the camp of the enemy and make sure all evil associations against you are defeated. Concerning this covering, the Bible says:
“Be shattered, O you peoples, and be broken in pieces! Give ear, all you from far countries. Gird yourselves, but be broken in pieces; Gird yourselves, but be broken in pieces. Take counsel together, but it will come to nothing;
Speak the word, but it will not stand, For God is with us.” Isaiah 8:9-10NKJV
This is the kind of scripture that gets fulfilled in our lives under divine covering and divine backing, depending on what we might be doing. People gathered against you will be broken in pieces; those who prepare war against you will be broken in pieces. Those who take up counsel against you will come to nothing.
What is the message of our devotion today? The message is simple. Don’t go into anything without divine covering or backing. If you step into a thing with all the human backing or covering you need, you will achieve little or nothing. But if you step into things with all the divine backing and covering you need, you will achieve much more than you can ever imagine within a short time.
With divine backing and covering, you will not be running in your own strength. You will be running in the strength of the almighty. People will be wondering why you are making such great strides and gaining such great speed. Those who are wise will know it’s not you but something and someone bigger than you.
I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT A MAN WHO TRY TO COPY OR COMPETE WITH THOSE GOD IS BACKING WILL END UP FRUSTRATING HIMSELF.
When you run against men who are not running spiritually with their natural feet but the feet of God almighty, you will just weary yourself. The race is actually not to the swift and the battle not to the strong. It’s God’s divine backing and covering that makes the difference in life and ministry.
You will need divine backing and covering to marry that man or woman, or to succeed in that business or ministry. You will need divine backing and covering to go through school and come out well. You will need divine backing and covering to live in a foreign land like we do. You will need divine backing and covering to escape from the sword of your enemies.
There are no words to accurately describe what your life will become if you lack divine backing and covering as a child of God in whatever you may be pursuing to do. Marriages will break down without divine covering; Businesses will fail without divine covering and backing.
Churches and ministries will fold up without divine covering and backing. God will open a great door for you but without divine covering or backing, you will not be able to enter. Paul the apostle wrote down in one of his letters saying:
“For a wide door of opportunity for effectual [service] has opened to me [there, a great and promising one], and [there are] many adversaries.” 1 Corinthians 16:9 AMPC
It’s impossible to deal with the many adversaries that surround divine opportunity without divine covering or backing.
Our present world is under the sway of the evil one. He will sway people to speak ill of you, hinder you from achieving, withhold good from coming to you, and build a wall against those God may have raise to help you basically to prevent them from reaching you. But if you have divine backing and covering, you will still achieve meaningfully despite the odds.
You could be gifted, talented, and hardworking, without divine backing and covering none of that will help you in any way. A major highlight in our devotional text today says; “We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.”
If you do not have divine backing in whatever you may be doing, the enemy will sway people against you and there will be no help from God to conquer them.
The question now is, how do we secure divine backing and covering? Divine backing or covering are children of divine presence, divine ways and divine will. If you want to have divine backing and covering, you must cherish the presence of the LORD, do the will of the LORD, and walk in His ways.
People who pursue God’s presence, walk in His ways and do His will, do not lack divine backing or covering. You will find them prospering by God’s definition of it, wherever they turn. Amen!!!
