TODAY’S DEVOTION (THURSDAY 13TH November 2025)
“It is doubtless not profitable for me to boast. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord:
I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago—whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows—such a one was caught up to the third heaven.
And I know such a man—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows— how he was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. Of such a one I will boast; yet of myself I will not boast, except in my infirmities.”
2 Corinthians 12:1-5 NKJV
WELCOME TO THE 317TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY
The LORD God has been so good to us. His Holy Spirit, the greatest Heavenly treasure given to mankind, has been so gracious. We will remain grateful for all His wonders in our lives.
Our hearts are being refreshed on matters of visionary living. We have seen some principles that governs the same. Today we want to see what to walk in to operate the principles more effectively. That thing is a walk in dreams, visions and revelations of the LORD.
Yesterday we kick started the 2025 school of the prophets, and this line of devotional will be relevant. Visionary living is more than seeing visions and dreaming dreams but visions, revelation and dreams from the Holy Spirit will be needed for visionary living.
Do not forget, God wants us out of emotional living because it is the bedrock of human crisis.
At the root of any war, for instance, is emotion that went out of control. At the root of divorce, strife, murder, sexual perversion, and the like, is an emotion that went out of control. At the root of some financial crisis and persistent poverty is emotions out of control.
Homes have been destroyed, churches pulled down, children orphaned, governments thrown into chaos, lives destroyed, and Satan unleashed on people because emotional living took over common sense. God gave us emotions for living but designed that they be controlled by visionary living.
If our emotions are not controlled by visionary living, we will not just destroy ourselves but God’s programs for our lives. Joseph and Mary would not have fulfilled their destiny (taking care of Jesus, the lamb of God destined to take away the sins of the world) if that had not happened.
When he found out that Mary, his betrothed, was pregnant not by him, he became emotional. Then he thought of terminating the marriage but in a very godly way. The Bible says while his emotion had taken over and directed him on what to do, and while he was thinking about everything, God came down through a dream and arrested the situation.
IN THIS STORY, YOU FIND VISIONARY LIVING PUTTING EMOTIONAL LIVING UNDER DIVINE CONTROL. THE WORD OF THE LORD SAYS:
“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.
Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly.
But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name Jesus. Matthew 1:18-25 NKJV
This is a perfect example of how visionary living was designed to bring emotional living under divine control. If Joseph has not had the dream, he would have abandoned his role in Jesus’ life and defeat God’s plan for his life. One of the worst things that emotional living does, can be seen in how it stirs us to senselessly defeat God’s plans for our lives.
It stirred Cain to do the same, killing Abel and laying the foundation of brother killing instead of brother keeping. May the LORD not let us do things that will either destroy our lives or jeopardize His redemptive programs in any way. May our emotions always come under divine control through dreams, visions and revelation knowledge. Amen.
FRIEND, THIS PRAYER COULD BE THE ONE PRAYER THAT NEEDS TO BE ANSWERED IN YOUR LIFE FOR THINGS TO TURN AROUND FOR YOUR GOOD.
Our emotions have destroyed so much in our lives. They have made us disobey God in so many ways, made us leave jobs we should not have left, and bring relationships to an end that we should not have ended. Our emotions have led us to take steps in life we should not have taken and done so much we should not have done.
God is now calling us to lead lives where our emotions will be controlled by visionary living, like that of Joseph was. One way that will happen is by walking in dreams, visions, and revelation of the LORD like Joseph walked in. Dreams guided him even when the fear of Baby Jesus being killed by Herod struck him. He walked in dreams and visions of the LORD all through to maintain a faith walk!!
Walking in dreams, visions, and revelations of the LORD helps us in visionary living because it helps us in understanding what aligns with God’s plan, purpose, vision, and goal. It also helps us in following God’s route for our life, which is an integral part of visionary living. A major part of our devotional said,
“It is doubtless not profitable for me to boast. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord:” 2 Corinthians 12:1 NKJV
Another thing we need to bring to your attention is the reason why it must be dreams, visions, and revelations of the LORD, and nothing else. You see, we live in seasons of heighten demonic influences. Some of these influences happen through dreams, visions, and revelation as well.
They birth a visionary living that is controlled by hell, the spirit, or the realm of darkness. I have seen people who lead visionary lives controlled by the realm of darkness through dreams, visions and revelation that are clearly not of the LORD. That must be avoided at all costs.
The flesh and the spirit of hell work together at time and generate streams of prophetic flow, that comes as visions, dreams or revelations that initiate a direction, an emotion, a leading or an action to take.
WE MUST NOT BE IGNORANT OF THAT. THE VISIONS, DREAMS AND REVELATION MUST BE OF THE LORD.
If we ignore the possibility of this happening to us, we will be misled.
Obviously, there are people who have been misled and misguided in life by such dreams, visions and revelations. Some ended up invested their entire lives in what the dreams, visions or revelation asked them to do, only to wake up in the evening of their lives, to discover that they were misled.
Some were not misled by dreams, visions or revelation their flesh and the spirit of hell generated when they were asleep, in religious prayer or carnal fasting, but by external systems like prophets and prophetesses. They were misled by those they called prophets or treated as prophetic people from GOD. The words of God through Jeremiah will make more sense. It says:
“Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They make you worthless; They speak a vision of their own heart, Not from the mouth of the Lord.” Jeremiah 23:16 NKJV
In our quest for visionary living, we must discern when so called men of God are speaking things of their own hearts. We must also discern when spirits have induced fellow believers to have dreams, visions or revelations concerning us and avoid the trap of the enemy.
The Bible clearly says if we do not do so and follow such things, our lives will be ruined at the end.
The necessity of personally coming to the glorious realm of visions and revelations from the LORD cannot be over emphasized. It is the only alternative to the flow of visions and revelations from the flesh and the evil one.
As we bring this to a close, understand that if you want to lead a visionary life, you must be careful of the realm that your visions, dreams or revelation come from. Satan has a history of misleading people through dreams, visions and revelation they receive from his realm either while asleep, or while in religious acts.
The message this morning is simple. We should not be moving in the flesh or our wants. We should be moving in the Spirit and responding to life challenges based on our divine destinies. It is my prayer that God will use these few thoughts to add to our wisdom bank on visionary living, in Jesus precious name. Amen.
