TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL (TUESDAY 11TH August 2026)
“For a long time Israel has been without the true God, without a teaching priest, and without law; but when in their trouble they turned to the Lord God of Israel, and sought Him, He was found by them.
And in those times there was no peace to the one who went out, nor to the one who came in, but great turmoil was on all the inhabitants of the lands. So nation was destroyed by nation, and city by city, for God troubled them with every adversity. 2 Chronicles 15:3-6 NKJV
WELCOME TO THE 223RD DAY OF OUR YEAR OF STRATEGIC VICTORIES!
Today, we want to look at one of the most unknown ways of escaping from the sword of our enemies. You cannot live a life without enemies. The devil is our enemy, and he fights us using swords sometimes. He has been God’s enemy from the eternal past and is also the enemy of God’s people.
He uses his sword to cut down people. Sometimes he fights us directly other times indirectly using people. However, irrespective of how he fights, his aim remains to cut us down in this life and the life to come the way he cut himself down in the eternal past.
But God’s plan is that we escape all that he uses, (the sword) to cut people down in this life and the life to come. My prayer is that you find that hidden way of escaping from his swords from this devotional in Jesus precious name. Amen!!
To start with, let me state this: I consider the invitation to come and be fed the word of God the greatest invitation of God to humanity. It is an act of mercy, from the GOD who does not deal with us according to our sins but according to His tender mercies.
Indeed, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God'” (Luke 4:4 NKJV). We were kept alive this year by what we fed on, because it is what you eat that will eat you. If you eat the word of GOD, He will eat you until there will be no place in your life for Satan to eat. The word of the LORD is called the sword of the Spirit. To escape the sword of our enemies, we must feed on the sword of the Spirit, that is God’s hidden and most effective way of helping us escape the sword of our enemies.
A LARGE PERCENTAGE OF WHAT THE HOLY SPIRIT DOES IN OUR LIVES IS SPIRITUAL FEEDING. HE CALLS US TO COME FEED ON HIS SWORD.
Eating the sword or spiritual feeding takes place in the place of studying and training in the things of GOD. It takes place when we get down to reason with God through His word. In fact, God said to mankind through His prophet Isaiah,
“Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword”; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken” Isaiah 1:18-20 NKJV
This scripture is simply saying, if we refuse to feed on the sword of the Spirit, we shall be devoured by the sword of our enemies. The reason for coming to reason with the LORD, therefore, is to help us escape from the swords of our enemies. Reasoning together with GOD is one way we are fed by Him. He feeds us with the Sword of His Holy Spirit, the word of God.
In simple terms, our spirits are fed with the sword of the Spirit, whenever we sit down with God to reason together with Him through corporate or private study of the Bible. So, the call to come reason together with the LORD is a call to be fed spiritually with the sword of the Spirit, it is a call to escape from the sword of the enemy.
Sadly, so many are yet to obey this call, that is why they are being cut down. Yes, that is why you find them devoured by the sword of their enemies.
The Bible says if we are willing to be fed and are obedient enough to make spiritual feeding our highest priority in our Christian life, we shall eat the good of the land. It is when you escape from the sword of the enemy that you will be alive and well to eat the good of the LAND.
THE GOOD OF THE LAND IS NOT JUST THE EARTHLY BLESSINGS OF THE NATION OR CITY OF OUR RESIDENCE.
That is what it was to the nation of Israel. But to us the spiritual nation of Israel, it is more than that. In the New Covenant, the covenant of grace, the land is no longer just a natural land but Christ Himself. David said, “the LORD is my portion in the land of the living.” Christ is the portion of all who are truly saved in a wicked world like ours.
The good of the land, therefore, is the riches of God’s Mercy, the riches of His grace and the riches of His glory, and you have to be alive and well to enjoy all that in this life, you have to escape from the sword of your enemy to be able to enjoy all that. The very riches we enjoy at “the Cry of the Spirit Ministries.” Hallelujah!
In simple terms, the good of the LORD for the saved and sanctified is the blessings of knowing Christ and making Him your portion in the land of the living; a blessing that can only come through proper spiritual feeding (the riches of His mercies, the riches of His grace, and the riches of His glory).
Sadly, many saved and sanctified people do not have these three-fold blessings in their lives. They have the labels on their lips but do not have the content.
They do not have the content because they have not plugged into God’s spiritual feeding program. Until we plug into God’s proper feeding program, we will not be saved from the sword of our enemies. Until we plug to GOD’s spiritual feeding program, we can never step into certain kingdom blessings.
A lot in the Kingdom of God depends on what you are feeding on, it depends on feeding on the sword of the Spirit. Yes, a lot in your relationship with God depends on feeding on the sword of the Spirit. If a relationship with God is not productive check the person’s attitudes to spiritual feeding or the quality of what they are feeding on.
A pastor, prophet, apostle, or priests who lack capacity to properly feed you with the sword of the spirit, will always be feeding on you. There can be no middle ground, he or she will feed on your money, and all that will make him famous and fortunate.
YOU MUST THEREFORE SIT UNDER ONLY PREACHERS WHO FEED GOD’S PEOPLE WITH THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT, NOT THE ONE WHO FEED ON YOU.
Apart from feeding on you, he or she will be filling your spirit with deadly things like revelations of the depth of Satan, divination, sorcery, secular humanism, humanistic philosophies, etc. In the name of deliverance, they will be asking you for money, or asking you to sleep with them, or use sand, salt, brooms, clothes, water, mustard seeds, etc. to pray. The sword of your enemies will be cutting you down because you are not feeding on the sword of the Spirit but just playing church.
Child of God, Heaven knows that since we left the Garden of Eden, spiritual malnutrition has been our greatest spiritual diseases. That is why you see “proper spiritual feeding program” by the hands of God’s teaching priest (prophets and apostles) in every deployment of God’s mercy in His redemptive plans.
No Child of GOD can successfully pass through a season of no “proper spiritual feeding” without losing one thing or the other. That is why, whenever God deploy mercy to a people, He will get them plugged to any ministry that is part of His feeding program on earth. Our devotional text tells us what will happen to us if live in a season of no spiritual feeding, a season when we are not fed the sword of the Spirit. It says,

IT SAYS THERE WAS NO PEACE TO THE ONE WHO WENT OUT OF THE ONE WHO COME IN. NATION WAS DESTROYED BY NATION AND CITY BY CITY.
That is what happens when people are being cut down by the sword of their enemies, there will be no peace in their lives, just destruction. If the life of someone you know fits this description, the greatest help you can offer the person is to seek God and have Him feed them with the Sword of His Holy Spirit, the sanctified word of God.
People have been taken from prayer mountain to prayer mountain to find deliverance from the sword of their enemies. But God is saying we cannot find deliverance that way.
Yes, we may find something, but we cannot find true and lasting deliverance on prayer mountains, prayer meetings, prayer camps etc. Except people are fed with the sword of the Spirit or permanently plugged in God’s spiritual feeding program, they will never escape from the sword of their enemies that does not relent in looking for who to cut down or devour.
The greatest call of God on us all is to be fed the sword of the Spirit properly. Don’t forget, whenever mercy says “no” over a people in perils, God will connect them to a spiritual feeding program to heal, deliver, then raise and build them up to do His blessed will.

“At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the Lord; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the Lord, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.” Jeremiah 3:15-17 KJV
