THE CRY OF THE SPIRIT DEVOTIONALS – BY RICHARD E. S. TAKIM

TODAY’S DEVOTION (Friday 28TH August 2020)

“A desire accomplished is sweet to the soul, but it is an abomination to fools to depart from evil.”

“He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed.” Proverbs 13:19-20 NKJV

WELCOME TO THE 239TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF REJOICING

When the eyes of a man are looking backwards instead of forward, he is bound to make mistakes in judgment. What may have happened to you yesterday is gone. Today is a gift from God for a new beginning. Arise and shine! Your light has come!!

It has been wonderful exploring and drawing water from the wells of salvation, both on this platform and our daily sessions rolling out from our 50 Days Wings of the Spirit. I guess you are gaining weight in the spirit and getting wiser by the day. That is the will of God for us.

Many are falling away because of lack of weight in the spirit or lack of Heavenly wisdom in their minds. God declare His glory daily to fulfill this one vision through these platforms to put weight in our spirits and wisdom in our minds. The Bible says,

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge.” Psalm 19:1-2 NKJV

The speeches the LORD has been using the devotionals of this month and the sessions in our school of fat things (50 Days Wings of the Spirit) to utter into our spirits are indeed things that call for double attention. The spirit of foolishness has been the greatest killer of men. It is the root of every adversity in the life of everyone.

It is the reason people marry wrongly, lead very rebellious lives, engage in things that have no eternal value, become wise in their own eyes and self-destruct.

It is the reason people make enemies out of men and women God sent to bless them, turn their ears from sound doctrines and counsels, worship in Churches that are not interested in their souls but money, or follow prophets who are not following the true GOD.

ONE MOMENT OF FOOLISHNESS CAN DESTROY THE RESULTS OF THE GOOD DEEDS OF A LIFETIME.

Foolishness could be personal but not private. What do I mean by that? Foolishness can bring corporate destruction. It could be in the heart of just one person but can destroy many people if allowed to govern decision making.

A major highlight in our devotional text today says,

“a companion of fools shall be destroyed” (Proverbs 13:20).

Sometimes Satan will surround a Godly and wise person with godly but foolish people to use their foolishness to destroy him or her. You must understand “the mystery of agents of foolishness” that can be sent into our lives to stop the flow of God or kill, steal, or destroy.

In as much as we need people in our lives, one prayer you must always pray for yourself is, “LORD, do not allow me to get stuck to foolish people. Do not allow the enemy to plant them in my life. Do not allow me to hand my life over to foolish companions. Let me not be a companion of fools.

How we need this prayer today! How we need to speak to the LORD to help us in our decision making not to become companions of fools. For instance, as a marriage minister, I have seen first-hand, marriages that comprises of incredibly wise and great people and people who look like unredeemable fools. Unredeemable because they make arrogance their necklace and reject every counsel.

Sadly, there are companions of fools everywhere called husbands or wives.

I see women that foolishness will not let them be submissive to their Godly husbands. Their foolishness gives them satisfaction in the trouble they create for their godly husbands. When I rebuke them of their wickedness and point their foolishness to them, they do not see what I am saying.

THEN YOU ARE THROWN INTO A SEA OF THOUGHT, WONDERING WHAT ELSE TO DO TO HELP THIS CROP OF WOMEN.

Truly it is an abomination for a fool to depart from evil as the scriptures says. Foolishness is more terrible than demons. It blinds people with pride and place their feet on the peddles of their lives throttling and running their lives in ways that are wise in their own eyes, despite repercussions.

I have seen people with the holy seed, foolishly yoked together with companions who have no humility and wisdom to complement them. Indeed, a companion of fools shall be destroyed! That is why marriage has become more of “a weapon of destiny destruction” than what God created it to be in the life of so many.

You see great and glorious destinies placed in the hands of foolish men and women through marriage. Your life will indeed be filled with unquenchable troubles if you are married to a fool.

This glorious weekend God wants you to check who you have in your life. Do not limit the check to marriage. Look into the network of your friends. Look into your church. Check everyone on your network of relationship. Walk away from fools or foolishness and you will reduce your troubles.

You must not have a foolish person as your pastor, prophet, or friend. There are foolish preachers everywhere today who does nothing but breed eternal destruction for people.

There are foolish church elders who do conspire against ministers of the gospel and serious-minded Christians to destroy them. I once served under such elders as a young pastor, so I know what I am “talking” about. The Bible says, a companion of fools shall be destroyed!

If there is perpetual destruction in your life, and you know you are not engaged in anything foolish, check those you are yoked together with either spiritually, socially, mentally, or in marriage etc.

CHECK THOSE YOU KEEP CLOSE TO YOUR HEART; YOU MIGHT FIND A FOOL AMONG THEM.

A companion of foolish will not help you but will hurt you. The wisdom of God says, “they will destroy you.” Do not be too kind not to push them out. I have made this mistake repeatedly. I had been in situations many times where sentiments did not let me separate from wrong people.

In so many instances, I knew the people where destroying me, but a soft spot in me could not let me push them away.

When the devil take advantage of your kindness or mercy, he will use it to do you much harm to you. That is why divine wisdom urged us to “love our neighbors as we love ourselves.” Meaning, if we love them higher than we love ourselves, it will destroy us.

Being a companion of fools, because of your love for them, is one way of loving your neighbor “more” than yourself. It will destroy you because you are using God’s delegated authority in your life foolishly, and Heaven will just be watching because God will lack what to use to help you.

Be careful how you relate with those who consider it a sport to do evil. Keep to the principle of the LORD in this devotional and keep destruction far away from you.

LET THIS SCRIPTURE PASSAGE BE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR THE DAY

“To do evil is like sport to a fool, but a man of understanding has wisdom.” Proverbs 10:23 NKJV
