TODAY’S DEVOTION (Sunday 30TH August 2020)
“Go forth from Babylon! Flee from the Chaldeans! With a voice of singing, Declare, proclaim this, Utter it to the end of the earth; Say, “The Lord has redeemed His servant Jacob!” Isaiah 48:20 NKJV
WELCOME TO THE 241ST DAY OF OUR YEAR OF REJOICING
It is a blessing to sleep and wake up to embrace another glorious day in our year of REJOICING. A lot has happened, but the LORD has kept us.
Today we will be refreshing our minds on matters of RIGHT RELATIONSHIPS. It is an open Biblical secret that none can fulfill divine destiny without RIGHT RELATIONSHIPS.
David is one of the most talked about Bible Characters. He killed a giant at 17 and carried out other great exploits for GOD. He could kill the giant because he was heavily protected by the LORD.
Killing the giant created a huge enemy for him in the palace of his kings, Saul. Who would later set him up to be killed.
This jealous king, promised David his daughter, basically to get him killed, but the LORD protected him. However, the LORD never protected him without using the instrumentality of Right Relationship in Saul’s young daughter.
The young woman saved him from an assassination plot sponsored by her father.
In the new testament, you see another warrior who was saved by the LORD using similar method. Apostle Paul needed a Right Relationship in his little Nephew, to be saved from a plot to kill him, that was when he had many more years to fulfill in ministry.
No one can become what God has called him to be without Right Relationships.
If you have a destiny to fulfill without Right Relationships around you, the dragon will either neutralize you literally and leave you spiritually impotent, or bring you under a spiritual siege and cut your life short.
Samson comes to mind here.
The young man was one warrior of righteousness with not much right relationships in life. He was almost alone, and so alone that even those he fought to protect from the enemy, could not hesitate to deliver him to those who wanted him out when they came for him.
I believe Samson ended the way he did because he had no right relationships around him.
Some of us have read and heard about this young warrior in our Sunday School classes but have not really seen what really handed him over to the dragon woman, Delilah. That is why we still fall into the same snare by bringing all manner of people with the Delilah spirit into our lives.
We bring them in either as spouses, friends, Church members, pastors, ministry, or business partners etc. consequently, ending up the same way he did.
THIS KIND OF PEOPLE, AMONG OTHER THINGS, CAN LAY A SIEGE AROUND OUR LIVES, PHYSICALLY OR SPIRITUALLY.
Talking about spiritual siege, a siege is simply a military blockage that prevents what makes life worth living from coming into someone’s life.
When you come under a siege in the spirit, suicide thoughts will become the only thoughts that you can muster. Life will lose its meaning; in simple terms you will begin to love death and anything that looks like it more than life.
When you are under a marital siege in the spirit, the wrong people will be the ones that will be coming to ask your hand in marriage, or they will never come at all.
Socially, when you come under a spiritual siege, you will loose relevance and social appeal. For instance, if your friends are celebrating a Birthday or any other social function that will bless you, none will even remember to invite you. Mind you, it will not be deliberate. What is happening around you spiritually will make them forget that you even exist until the function is over.
Physiologically, living under a siege in the spirit will shut down your health system and not allow you to have rest. You will be moving from one ill health to another, spending fortunes until your money is no more. Medical help will not be able to help in any way. Anyone who tries to help you will also come under the same attacks.
Economically, when you are under a siege in the spirit realm, you will become mysteriously poor. If you have a business, it will become dry; people will no longer come for your services. Those who owe you will refuse to pay and even if you have something to sale to salvage the situation, there will be no buyers coming.
IT IS VERY TERRIBLE TO BE UNDER A SIEGE IN THE SPIRIT.
Concerning the nation of Israel, the Bible says it was so bad that women began to eat up their Children. Nothing good was coming into the City. Everything they had was eaten up without replenishment until there was nothing left to eat but their Children.
What I just stated about Israel can be found in 2 Kings Chapter 6; if your economic life suits that description, then you need an urgent help from the LORD!
I have also come to discover that most bitter rivalries in families are products of this kind of captivity. When people come under a siege in the spirit, harmony will no longer exist in their lives. And since hurting people hurt people, they will begin to hurt even those who love them. It is terrible to spend even a day under a spiritual siege.
If you are under any kind of a siege, get set to walk out of it this season of our 50 DAYS WINGS OF THE SPIRIT. In fact, people are already getting amazing breakthroughs.
God has a way of using “Right Relationships” that comes to us as spiritual fathers or prophetic voices to break through things in the spirit realm and bring any kind of spiritual siege over His people to an end. So, get set to see any siege in your life come to an end.
In 2 Kings Chapters 6 and 7 God used a Right Relationship in Elisha to break the siege over the nation and bring about a turnaround in 24 hours. The Bible says,
“Then Elisha said, “Hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord: ‘Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria.'”
“So an officer on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God and said, “Look, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, could this thing be?” And he said, “In fact, you shall see it with your eyes, but you shall not eat of it.” 2 Kings 7:1-2 NKJV
ALL THROUGH THE SCRIPTURES YOU SEE A REPEAT OF THIS KIND OF DIVINE MOVE IN THE LIVES OF PEOPLE.
You see God using one Right Relationship to navigate and bring the captives out of sieges. As we can see in the scripture above, one Right Relationship in Elisha turned things around for Israel.
One Right Relationship will turn things around for you. You have been suffering because you are yet to reach out to it. Israel suffered until they reached out to Elisha. This 50 DAYS WINGS OF THE SPIRIT has been an Elisha move of GOD in the lives of many.
The man was all the while in the nation when it came under siege, and then moved from plenty to nothing, and from nothing to eating their own Children. Yet none cared to reach out to him until many children have been boiled and eaten by their parents (though only one incident was recorded). But when they caught the sense to reach out to him, the siege came to an end in 24 hours.
You are the next to find that “Right Relationship” that God has ordained for you!
When one RIGHT RELATIONSHIP enters your life, Heavenly Sunshine will begin to beam on you. You will notice sudden changes in critical areas of your life. I cannot forget the woman who wept in my office last week for knowing us. It brought tears from my eyes.
Recounting all she went through and how few months of knowing us changed everything, I can see the power of one right relationship in a person’s life. Friends, sometimes, we do not need people. We need a person!
It is important to let you know that, not every relationship is ordained for you because not everyone can bring a siege to an end in your life. In other words, you may not need many people in life to turn your things around.
YOU MAY JUST NEED ONE PERSON.
To break any siege in your life, stop looking for people. Look for one person with all of GOD given ability to help turn things around in your life. Yes, it was just one Elisha Israel needed. So, you will not need an army of prayer partners. You will need just one RIGHT PERSON – an Elisha – to turn things around in your life.
Elisha was equipped for Israel. You will need someone who is equipped for you – equipped to bring Heaven to the earth or graced to provoke eternity to invade time on your behalf. That was who Elisha was to Israel and that is who you will need at this time of your life!
Now, there are some who may never find an Elisha until they walk away from those, they thought they needed. Our devotional text today is a unique one. It is more of a divine instruction to someone in this kind of situation who will be sensitive in the Spirit to sense what God is saying. It says,
“Go forth from Babylon! Flee from the Chaldeans! With a voice of singing, Declare, proclaim this, Utter it to the end of the earth; Say, “The Lord has redeemed His servant Jacob!”
Sometimes to find your Elisha and come out of a siege you will need to walk away from certain lives. Other times you may not need an Elisha to end a siege, because he is already there. You will only need to walk away from people who may be preventing an Elisha move in your life from happening, to end a siege.
If you consider the story of Samson for a moment, you will discover in Judges 16:16-17 that if he had he came under a spiritual siege in the house of Delilah. The woman literally besieged him until he lost the desire to live. But if he had walked out of her life, the story would have been different.
Friend, if you did not hear God speaking to you through this devotional text today, I believe the story of Samson should speak to you.
Certain siege cannot be broken by prayer and fasting, you just must break loose from any people the enemy may have used to besiege you and be free. Though it is not always easy, and may not make sense to those who love and care for you, if you take the bull by the horns, you will soon discover that “SURGERY IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN TRAGEDY.”
