THE CRY OF THE SPIRIT DEVOTIONALS – BY RICHARD E. S. TAKIM

TODAY’S DEVOTION (Thursday 29th May 2025)

Then the Lord said to him: “Go, return on your way to the Wilderness of Damascus; and when you arrive, anoint Hazael as king over Syria.

Also you shall anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi as king over Israel. And Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place.

It shall be that whoever escapes the sword of Hazael, Jehu will kill; and whoever escapes the sword of Jehu, Elisha will kill. 1 Kings 19:15-17 NKJV

WELCOME TO THE 149TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY

We bless the LORD God of Heaven and earth for giving us life and another brand-new day. Days are seeds sown into our lives to bring forth works of righteousness – in other words, to work the works of the LORD.

Today I want to share with us certain Bible truths that I have shared in my life and ministry. I will begin with some statements on the seed of divine destiny!!

The seed of divine destiny is in everyone but can never be activated until we have an encounter with Christ. That is what makes salvation or the beginning of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ the first thing you and I will need to actualize our true potentials.

In that seed of divine destiny lies a glorious future we are yet to actualize, accomplishments we are yet to see, financial freedom we are yet to realize, dreams, life goals, and visions that are yet to be fulfilled. But the presence of the LORD that comes with genuine repentance is what we need to unlock them all.

In fact, we will need to come into an apostolic activity called “working the works of the LORD” to begin to create in time all that is contain in the seed of divine destiny in us. Jesus says, “I must work the works of Him that sent me while it is day for the night comes when no man can work.” That was the position He took to actualize all that was in His seed of divine destiny.

If the Spirit of Jesus lives in us, we will be driven to do the same, leading to the actualization of our potentials in God. His presence in our lives will be giving us the wisdom we need to do all that.

The Bible says, “Wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of your times and strength of salvation” says the LORD. One major wisdom that the LORD will lead us to is the wisdom of having a spiritual midwife.

YES, THE SEED OF DIVINE DESTINY IN US WILL NEED THE MINISTRY OF A SERVANT OF GOD WHO IS A SPIRITUAL MIDWIFE.

I have said before that the seed of divine destiny in us is like a pregnancy. Once a woman is pregnant, the services of a midwife will become inevitable. Once you come to the revelation of the content of the seed of destiny within you, the service of a spiritual midwife is the next thing you should seek the LORD for.

Yes, once you realize that there are God given life goals you are yet to achieve and divine dreams you are yet to actualize, the next thing to seek the LORD for is an apostolic midwife like Paul.

Sometimes we need a no nonsense one so that God could use him or her to cut of the excesses of the flesh in us.

No pregnant woman can midwife herself into delivery. In the same way no Child of divine destiny can midwife himself into bringing forth his destiny accurately. We will all need the impartations, prophetic skill, and apostolic directives of a midwife. We will need imputes of a midwife God raised and assigned to us.

Our devotional text today is full of revelation and insights that we can even put in a book. But this is devotional, so we will scoop just a little of what it contains; enough to start the day with.

First, God wanted to finally eliminate Baal worship in Israel. He had a plan! In that plan four men were involved. Three were pregnant with the seed of divine destiny. One was already unleashing his own both as a prophet and a spiritual midwife. His name was Elijah!

The ones that were pregnant with the seed of divine destiny that was yet to be actualized needed him to midwife them to delivery, but they were not aware of any of that.

Their names were Hazael, Jehu and Elisha. These guys never knew they were pregnant. First, they needed a prophet to tell them that. But since they never knew they were pregnant with the seed of divine destiny, they also did not know they needed a midwife.

I CALL THAT THE TRAGEDY OF DESTINY!!

Sadly, there are so many believers who are pregnant with great things from heaven but are not aware they are pregnant. They need true prophetic voices to stir them to catch the revelation of what heaven has impregnated them with; then ascend into realms of grace where they can decode the names and nature of their unborn prophetic babies.

If that does not happen, they will defeat their divine destiny! That was the situation Elisha, Hazael, and Jehu found themselves.

They were all successful in what they were doing; the other two were successful military Officers – generals and commanders of the armies of their respective nations. Elisha was a successful mechanized farmer. But as some of us now know, success in the wrong assignment is failure in disguise.

It might be seen as failure by man, but the only thing God sees as success is when we succeed in His plans and programs for our lives.

Any other success is not considered success in God’s sight. For instance, the men and women in Hebrews chapter 11, were not considered successful by their generation, because some died as destitutes, wondering in caves and mountains for safety. But God certified them successful because they lived for Him.

Hazael, Jehu and Elisha were destined to die successfully as the world defines it. However, God in His infinite mercy stepped in to tell them they were not on the path of true success, and that there is something He buried in them which must be actualized.

Elijah’s assignment was to function as both a prophet and a spiritual midwife to these pregnant people. A major highlight in our devotional text today says:

“Go, return on your way to the Wilderness of Damascus; and when you arrive, anoint Hazael as king over Syria. Also you shall anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi as king over Israel. And Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place.”

If you read carefully, you will discover a word God used on all the three pregnant people. The word contains the specific job God assigned Elijah to do in their lives. That word is anoint, which means empower. Amazingly he never even used oil on them, especially on Elisha, the only one he eventually adopted.

IT MEANS TO ANOINT MEANS SOMETHING AT A MORE ADVANCE LEVEL.

Elijah knew it had nothing to do with smearing with oil. He knew it held a deeper assignment than smearing with oil. Hidden in that word are two important aspects of equipping that every Child of divine destiny must go through, under the ministry of their God given prophetic or apostolic midwife, to unleash his destiny.

The unfolding of the word anoint, began with practically pointing out what God concealed in their lives to be fulfilled on earth. It involves letting them know what the LORD has called them to do, training them to grasp it, and then commissioning them to do it. That was what God meant.

Today it’s the job of the Holy Spirit to let us know, and the job of our prophetic or apostolic midwives to stir us to know and then walk with the Holy Spirit to do the rest, even as we submit.

Sadly, Elijah succeeded in anointing only Elisha. When Elisha would be commissioning the Hazael and Jehu on Elijah’s behalf, much time was lost and it was almost too late for them to be trained the way he was trained. They had to be commissioned as UNTRAINED and UNTAMED men.

May that not be said of us!

The greatest problem in Church today is the army of untrained and untamed men and women in church today trying to do one thing or the other. They want to preach, teach, prophesy, sing and lead churches without genuine spiritual upbringing. That is why the prophets and prophetesses are sexually perverse and terrible. Sinful living has become a lifestyle. People live like the world and still believe they will make heaven.

YOU NEED A HOLY PROPHETIC OR APOSTOLIC MIDWIFE TO UNLEASH YOUR DESTINY.

Sometimes God will send one man who is equipped to do both in your life, other times He will send first a holy prophetic midwife to you, them an apostolic type, with the proper content to help you.

The message of our devotion this morning is simple; your divine destiny will need a spiritual midwife to be unleashed. It will need an Elijah type of ministry to trim and train you in the school of the Spirit and then commission you into your assignment.

If you try to pursue a divine destiny without a midwife to help you, your destiny will never be released accurately. What happened to Hazael and Jehu may happen to you!

The primary purpose of what we call fathering is for the ministry of spiritual midwife. But most spiritual fathers cannot accurately tell what their spiritual children carry. They give them jobs to do but do not know God’s blueprint for their lives like Elijah knew for Elisha.

At best they act spiritual, but when whatever they say comes under the scrutiny of prophetic fire; you will find those words not standing the test of time.

Like apostle Paul did many years ago, permit me to say, “there are no many fathers.” We just have many instructors and ‘boy’ leaders forcing people to call them ‘papa,’ but very few fathers. When I say boy leaders, I am not referring to chronological age. David was older than Saul in spiritual matters.

May the LORD grant you understanding In Jesus precious name!

MAKE THIS SCRIPTURE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR TODAY.

I do not write these things to shame you, but as my beloved children I warn you.

For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Therefore I urge you, imitate me.

For this reason I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church. 1 Corinthians 4:14-17 NKJV
