THE CRY OF THE SPIRIT DEVOTIONALS – BY RICHARD E. S. TAKIM

TODAY’S DEVOTION (Tuesday 10th June 2025)

“Behold, I send an Angel before you to keep you in the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared.

Beware of Him and obey His voice; do not provoke Him, for He will not pardon your transgressions; for My name is in Him. But if you indeed obey His voice and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.” Exodus 23:20-22 NKJV

WELCOME TO THE 161st DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY

The greatest expectation of the righteous in every generation has been the glorious appearing of Jesus Christ or their home-going to meet the LORD. We consider it a great day because it is the very day that we will step foot in Heaven to see the LORD face to face and receive rewards for our services to Him while in this life.

That is why you find the righteous in every generation spending each day preparing for their eternal home-going; working very hard with the LORD to execute the great commission so that when they stand before Him in the next life, they will have something to present to Him and He in turn will welcome them with the famous eternal greeting “well done thou good and faithful servant.”

This world is not our home, my friend. We who have been redeemed by the LORD are not of this world. We belong to the ages to come – we belong to a world beyond this world. The kingdom of the KING we all worship and serve is not of this world.

That is why even when the world is not fair to us, we just look at it in pain and wish it gets to know the LORD! Yes, because we are not of this world our King has angels around and His Holy Spirit gave us the chance to guide us through the paths of life so that we can safely go through this life and fulfill His purposes for our life before our time on earth is over.

He said in our devotional text;

“Behold, I send an Angel before you to keep you in the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared.

Yes, His angel and His Holy Spirit are to protect us as we follow the paths of eternal life. In the days of the Bible, the word an Angel, referred to the LORD in His pre incarnate form, and His Holy Spirit that guided the people of Israel through Moses.

TODAY THE ANGEL IS THE POST RESURRECTED CHRIST AND HIS HOLY SPIRIT GUIDING US IN OUR HEARTS AND THROUGH HIS BLESSED WORD THE BIBLE.

As they were expected to do so we are expected to obey Him. We are not expected to rebel against Him. The word says: “Beware of Him and obey His voice; do not provoke Him, for He will not pardon your transgressions; for My name is in Him.”

One of the greatest requirements of redemption is obedience. Understand that after we have met the LORD, the next thing we are expected to do is to spend the rest of our lives on earth obeying His words and submitting to His blessed will, nothing else.

If we do not do that, we will slip back to our unsaved state and loose our salvation – something the false grace gospel says is impossible.

Friend, everyone who is familiar with the story of King Saul in the Bible knows that Obedience is always better than sacrifice. Everyone who has ever fulfilled their destinies in the Kingdom of God obeyed God implicitly. They did not argue with God like Saul, they obeyed Him.

Obedience is the force that helps God’s children to participate in Kingdom ventures and do great things with the LORD. If we do not live a life of obedience, we will live a lower life on the face of the earth and come into things that even prayer cannot redeem us from.

It is obedience that will help in making us whet God created us to be on the face of the earth. Without Obedience there will be no actualization of our callings, gifting, or potentials in Christ Jesus. There will be no fulfillment of God’s promises in our lives.

That is why a people who do not obey God do not amount to anything in Life. There will be stagnancy, failure and all kinds of darkness in our lives if we live a Christian life that lack obedience to the voice of God.

IN FACT, THE BIBLE EVEN MADE IT CLEAR THAT WE WILL MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOD TO FIGHT OUR ENEMIES IF THERE IS NO OBEDIENCE IN OUR FAITH.

You must wake up this morning to understand that we make our enemies stronger than us if we do not walk in obedience. Not walking in obedience is called rebellion. One of the most costly things in the Kingdom of God is rebellion. A major line in our devotional text says:

“…But if you indeed obey His voice and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.”

Yesterday’s devotion was about God’s Spiritual Feeding program. We learned that proper spiritual feeding program comes with a season of God’s mercy on men. However, if we do not obey the word that we are being fed with, the feeding is useless.

Yes, the Bible says we should be doers of the word and hearers only. Doing the word connotes obedience. No matter how rich what we are being fed with is, if we do not respond to it with an obedient heart, we will waste the food. It will never do us any good.

When we obey the word that we are being fed with, we will be clothed with the blessing of our obedience, making sure we are not naked in the Spirit. The Bible instructs us to live lives that when we are found, we will not be found naked. Child of God, there are all forms of nakedness, the one that rebellion creates is the most dangerous.

If you are in a good church, where the word of the LORD is rich, but you are not living a life that obeys God, you will be like that guest in the parable of Christ who was in the banqueting hall but had no wedding garment. The wedding garment of a child of God is created by the words of God he or she obey. That is why the Bible calls it, “the righteous acts of the saints.”

Yes, our obedience is creating for us a beautiful garment in the spirit’s realm.

IT GIVES US CLOTHES THAT CAN ATTRACT GOOD TO US IN THE NATURAL REALM.

That is why the Bible says no good thing will God withhold from those who walk uprightly. Do not forget, an upright walk is a walk of obedience. When it creates that beautiful garment over your life in the spirit realm, it will begin to attract good to you in the natural realm.

It does not matter what anyone says, understand that when your Christian life lacks obedience to the will and ways of God, it will be a sinful life called Christian life. That is how ugly a Christian life that lacks obedience to the will of God look like. The Bible describes it this way:

“They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.” Titus 1:16 NKJV

How can God be a defender of a Christian man or woman who fits this description. How can the angels of God encamp around such people.

How can God’s holy oil flow on their heads to put them ahead of their enemies. How can God turn their curses into blessings and build a shield of protection around them. How can God be an enemy to their enemies. Our devotional text presents the impossibility of all that. It says,

“Behold, I send an Angel before you to keep you in the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared. Beware of Him and obey His voice; do not provoke Him, for He will not pardon your transgressions; for My name is in Him.

But if you indeed obey His voice and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.”

This scripture and others in the Holy Bible clearly teach that if we take total obedience to the will and ways of God from our walk and talk with Him, we have nothing left to call relationship with God. That is the message of today’s devotional.

It’s a New Day!

MAKE THIS SCRIPTURE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR YOU TODAY!

Why do you call Me, Lord, Lord, and do not [practice] what I tell you? For everyone who comes to Me and listens to My words [in order to heed their teaching] and does them, I will show you what he is like:

He is like a man building a house, who dug and went down deep and laid a foundation upon the rock; and when a flood arose, the torrent broke against that house and could not shake or move it, because it had been securely built or founded on a rock.

But he who merely hears and does not practice doing My words is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation, against which the torrent burst, and immediately it collapsed and fell, and the breaking and ruin of that house was great. Luke 6:46-49 AMP
