THE CRY OF THE SPIRIT DEVOTIONALS – BY RICHARD E. S. TAKIM

TODAY’S DEVOTION (Thursday 12th June 2025)

“Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.” Psalms 37:1-5 NKJV

WELCOME TO THE 163RD DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY

This is the day the LORD has made, we shall rejoice and be glad in it. Oh, how much He loves us. He loves us more than we do ourselves. He loves us with perfect love, so perfect that there are no number of sins He cannot forgive. No ungodly man or woman who runs to Him, that he cannot transform.

His love is the reason for the survival of humanity, especially those who call upon His name. The Bible says:

“As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.” Psalms 103:13-14 NKJV

You cannot serve this kind of God, and your enemy have you for dinner. He will always come for you. I think God can be sentimental when dealing with His kids sometimes. He can be sentimental about us. He pities those who fear Him, because he knows our frame.

Come to think of it, He knows so much about us that no one else knows, yet He still loves us. That is how perfect His love is. But it is not fertility for a life of sin and wickedness and will never be.

His love is a fertility for the recovery of willing sinners back to righteousness. It is the fertility ground for repented souls to become reformed.

That is why if you fall into sin, He does not just rush to condemn you because sinners are condemned already, He checks your heart. He will check if you are repentant and willing to sin no more or are just remorseful, and regretting what you did because you were caught or are facing the consequence?

He shows us mercy based on what He sees we will do with His mercies if released to us! While people will be talking about your acts, God will be looking at your heart, to see if there is a ray of repentance, a hate for what you did, or a willingness to go and sin no more.

HE WILL ALSO CHECK IF THE HUMILITY TO SUBMIT TO HIS CHASTISEMENT EXISTS IN YOUR HEART IF YOUR SIN OR WRONGDOING NEEDS CHASTISEMENT.

He does all these things so that we will not be part of the breed Heaven does not allow to take root on earth, but we remain the breed of the upright. The Bible says,

“For the upright will dwell in the land, and the blameless will remain in it; but the wicked will be cut off from the earth, and the unfaithful will be uprooted from it.” Proverbs 2:21-22 NKJV

If God does not allow the wicked to take root on earth or remain, how much more their expectations. That is why it’s not safe to build your expectations outside His perfect will for your life.

Let us share some light on expectations, you cannot be living an ungodly life and expect good things to be happening to you. Ungodly living is a seed that brings a harvest of pain, sorrow etc. If you are not living a godly life, do not dream of seeing the things that God may have spoken to you come to pass.

Also learn to use the love of God available to us to change your ways.

Talking about seeing our expectations come to pass, believers are told to sow this seed or sow the other one, and do this or that, to bring their expectations to fruition. But it is important to note that there is no place in the Bible where a man took his carnal expectation to God through prayer, fasting or sacrificial giving to a so-called preacher, and then God rubber stamps it with a miracle.

Never!

Indeed, our devotional text today screams “no” to that. A major Highlight in it says,

“Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” Psalms 37:3-4 NKJV

Sadly, when people quote or preach from this scripture, they forget the first parts and just log on to the lasts sentence that says, “He shall give you the desires of your heart,” and that is the sentence upon which every failed expectation in Church today is built.

We forget that the heart of a man that has not been processed and filled with the Holy Spirit is desperately wicked.

GOD DOES NOT GRANT THE DESIRES OF SUCH A HEART.

When the Bible says “He shall give you the desires of your heart” it does not mean God will grant us whatever we desire or fulfill whatever we expect that He fulfill.

It simply means, if we do everything that precede the “heart desire” sentence in Psalm 37:1-5 (trusting in the LORD, doing good, dwelling in the land or place of His will for our lives, feeding on God’s faithfulness, and delighting ourselves in Him) the Spirit of the LORD in us will shape what our hearts should desire and align it with God’s will.

In other words, God will grant us what our hearts should desire. It is the desires He grants our hearts to desire that will be granted, not the ones we conceive of ourselves. I hope you understand me!

The heart desires that are not the desires He grants our heart to desire will never be granted. That is why everyone’s life expectations must be built on what God grants the hearts to desire for them to come to pass.

There are more truths to glean from the text. The last part of our devotional text says, “Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.”

This does not refer to our own carnal ways but the very ways and plans of the LORD that we have adopted and made our ways and plans. Those are the ways or plans to commit to the LORD in prayer if we want our expectations to come to pass.

So, from all these scriptures it’s clear that God does not want man to be seen because man was not originally sourced in man. Man was sourced in God. God wants God to be seen in man. He does not want man to be seen in man. I hope we all understand that Bible truth.

He never designed that to happen, hence did not design that our carnal expectations to be fulfilled. He only designed expectations built on divine desires (that are granted to our hearts to desire) to be fulfilled.

If you are worried that some expectations you have for the year have not been fulfilled, I guess you know why. It is my prayer that you walk in the light of this word, lead a godly life and source your expectations from God for the rest of the year. Amen!!!

MAKE THIS SCRIPTURE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR THE DAY

“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.

Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret — it only causes harm. For evildoers shall be cut off; but those who wait on the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.

For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more; Indeed, you will look carefully for his place, but it shall be no more.

But the meek shall inherit the earth, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. The wicked plots against the just, and gnashes at him with his teeth.

The Lord laughs at him, for He sees that his day is coming. The wicked have drawn the sword.” Psalms 37:7-14 NKJV
