TODAY’S DEVOTION (Saturday 12th July 2025)
“We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.”
“We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.”
“And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.” 1 John 5:18-21 NKJV
WELCOME TO THE 193RD DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY
Glory be to God for these 193 days of His mercies, compassion, kindness, goodness and watchful eyes over our lives. Indeed, it is out of His mercies that men are not consumed, for His compassion fails not.
Day unto day, we have been seeing His arm, and night until night His faithfulness. We fall asleep and wake up because He made it happen. Our days are in His hands, and our hopes in His will for our lives.
We are the generation that does not want Him to give us what we want so that there will be no leanness in our souls. We want Him to give us what fits His will for our lives, and nothing else. His will is all we want done in our lives not our will. We are ready for anything that not born of the will of man or the will of blood.
It’s been our year of victory, and the LORD has been speaking to us about the things that our divine destiny needs to be fulfilled. We have seen quite a number, today we will be looking at the next. The next blessing your destiny will need from the LORD to be fulfilled is divine backing.
I have come to discover that in the battle of life our enemies are not actually our problem. Lack of divine backing in our lives is our problem. If we can secure divine backing in anything we may be doing or are involved in, God will move swiftly against whatever comes against us.
A few years ago, I defined Divine backing as God standing by man in every endeavor of his life. I also defined it as a supernatural support from a loving God to a people who seek Him. But to a kingdom warrior, Divine Backing is God standing by him as a ‘Mighty Terrible One’ (MTO) to help him come out victoriously in the battles of life.
WHEN JESUS WAS IN THE FLESH AS MAN, HE NEVER DID ANYTHING WITHOUT DIVINE BACKING.
He was able to raise the dead, heal the sick, come out of terrible storms, walk upon the water, and do all He did because “GOD WAS WITH HIM.” Divine backing is God being with you! For instance, concerning the redemptive sacrifice, the Bible made it clear that He prayed and cried unto the Father (His source), with strong cries – He cried to Him who saves from Death.
His strong cry activated the divine backing He needed, the very glory He had before coming into the world. Today we worship Him as our LORD and Savior, who died, was buried but arose to reign as King of kings and LORD of lords.
His life is a major lesson on divine backing. He presented it as a necessity for the release of destiny.
Child of God, if Jesus needed divine backing to unleash His destiny as our redeemer, you will be stupid not to crave for divine backing in anything you may want to do. In the world we live in today, you will crash and come out terribly beaten if you attempt anything without divine backing.
The enemy will hinder you on all fronts successfully! Understand that doing the right thing is not enough. You must be backed by God for the right thing you may be doing to succeed.
Every kingdom citizen who ever did great things with the LORD will tell you that it takes divine backing to do anything meaningful on the face of the earth. The reason is because we live in an accursed world. There is a prince in charge of things down here, and that prince is a prince of darkness.
To succeed down here, God must back you and neutralize the activities of the prince. That is why you must be sure He will back you up before venturing in anything. You must use your eyes of faith to be sure of His backing before coming against the gates of hell.
YES, YOU MUST BE SURE OF HIS BACKING BEFORE CONFRONTING ANY EVIL FORCES.
If divine backing is not on your life, destructive things will stop you and disgraceful things will ruin you. You may be small, poor, weak, isolated, or insignificant, if you have divine backing, you will come out with a better result. You will become a wonder to all.
Understand that success has many friends and failure is an orphan and make sure God is with you before embarking on anything.
Let me share one more time my own little story here in East Africa.
Apart from the first meeting we had with some preachers who wanted to use us to raise money for their ministries, the cry of the Spirit started with me and my wife, then we grew to four souls and then fifteen. Many times, we wanted to go back home, but God always come through for us.
At one point a man of God called Bishop Barack provided the brotherly warmth we need as people in a foreign land, with no relatives or friend to turn to. We depended so much on God that we did not see any man as a shelter. Divine backing was our support system and is still our support system. Without it, it would have been impossible for us to release our divine destinies.
The cry of the Spirit Ministries is a statement of how divine backing can start a little work and take it across the nations without mutilating the gospel, commercializing anything, engaging in Babylonian systems to grow church, etc.
We are a statement that, if you will ever release your destiny in a world that is constantly under the sway of the wicked one, divine backing must be present in your life. I remember worshiping in a local Church and meeting a couple that asked me, when they got to know that we were here on gospel mission, which organization sent us.
I said “none!” Then they responded, “wow… you will not be able to do anything meaningful here without foreign backing. That is terrible.”
Now that meeting took place at a time when we had no money in our hands. Whatever we brought had been stollen, we could not even pay our rent successfully when we heard those words.
SO, IT LEFT ME VERY FRUSTRATED AND DISCOURAGED.
But I remembered what I said many years ago while preaching. I remembered saying to an audience that “If God throws me into an Island with just my Bible in my hands with no one to support me, I will fill that Island with people and provision through prayer.” It is called the audacity of faith.
So, the Holy Spirit brought that word to me and said, “this is the Island. Now fulfill your promise.” It was not funny, but it pushed me to work it out. We bowed our knees to God who alone we had (and still have), the God who called and sent us to East Africa without external support from anywhere.
Now, with a divine determination not to beg, borrow, or open a business venture since the calling is full time, we soldiered on, seeking God to make way for us to preach His word, and execute the apostolic mandate he brought us here to execute.
The Bible says, as soon as Zion travail, she brings forth her Children. I bowed my knees in travailing prayers, knowing that was one of the most powerful ways to activate divine backing. I had grown up knowing that no meaningful thing can be accomplished without travailing prayers, so I put the key to work.
Today, to the glory of God, because of His backing, we have seen friends, sons, and daughters in the LORD, birthed by the Spirit of the LORD before our very eyes. We are a living testimony that “one with God is indeed majority.”
Standing from where we are today, I can understand why God never allowed anyone we knew to help us. He wanted to protect His glory.
You see, like I stated earlier, success has many friends, but failure is always an orphan. If you fail in anything in life, even those who made you fail will never say they contributed to your failure. They will rather insult you and even call to blame your failure on so many untrue things.
Some will make sure you never rise again.
THAT IS WHY WE NEED DIVINE BACKING IN THIS WORLD TO BECOME ALL THAT GOD HAS DESTINED US TO BE.
Today’s message is simple. Do not go into anything without divine backing. We did not come to East Africa on our own, Jesus appeared to me in Spirit and said, “Meet me in Kenya.”
It was during one of the toughest seasons of my life. I was between life and death. I could see my grave when the LORD was telling all that. It would take me over a year to finally meet Him in Kenya. That was the second time He will be appearing to me on the Kenyan mission. The first was in 1998.
Friend, if you step into a thing with all the human backing you need, you will achieve little or nothing. But if you step into a thing with all the divine backing you need, even if there is no human backing, you will achieve much within a short time.
With divine backing, you will not be running in your own strength. You will be running in the strength of the almighty. People will be wondering why you are making such great waves and gaining such great speed. Those who are wise will know it is not you but someone bigger than you.
I have discovered that a man who try to copy or compete with those God is backing will end up frustrating himself.
When you run against men who are not running spiritually with their natural feet, men who are running with the feet of God almighty, you will just weary yourself. The race is not to the swift and the battle not to the strong. It’s God’s divine backing that makes the difference in life and ministry.
YOU WILL NEED DIVINE BACKING TO MARRY THAT MAN OR WOMAN OR TO SUCCEED IN THAT BUSINESS OR MINISTRY.
You will need divine backing to go through school and come out well. You will need divine backing to live in a foreign land like we are doing today. You will need divine backing to escape from the sword of your enemies like we have escaped many times.
There are no words to accurately describe what your life will become if you lack divine backing as a Child of God, in whatever you may be pursuing to do. Marriages will break down without divine backing; Businesses will fail without divine backing.
Churches and ministries will fold up without divine backing. God will open a great door for you but without divine backing, you will not be able to enter. Paul the apostle wrote down in one of his letters saying:
“For a wide door of opportunity for effectual [service] has opened to me [there, a great and promising one], and [there are] many adversaries.” 1 Corinthians 16:9 AMPC
It is impossible to deal with the many adversaries that surround divine opportunity without divine backing. A major highlight in our devotional text today says; “We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.” If you do not have divine backing in whatever you may be doing, the enemy will sway people against you and there will be no help from God to conquer them.

“ Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:30-31 NKJV
