THE CRY OF THE SPIRIT DEVOTIONALS – BY RICHARD E. S. TAKIM

TODAY’S DEVOTION (Tuesday 5th August 2025)

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He guards all his bones; not one of them is broken.
Evil shall slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous shall be condemned.

The Lord redeems the soul of His servants, and none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned. Psalms 34:19-22 NKJV

WELCOME TO THE 217TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY

Glory to the LORD God almighty – El Shaddai, the “All sufficient One” creator of Heaven and Earth. It is of His sufficiency that we are kept. His mercies are the greatest insurance package on the face of the earth.

As we prepare this morning to face the day, I want us to look at this beautiful Psalm from one of the greatest servants of God that ever lived on the face of the earth – David. King David was no ordinary man. He was a God centered warrior king whose walk and talk with God (though stained with few instances of sin), shaped how generations have served God.

He was one righteous man who spent over 53 years of His life fighting the battles of the LORD. He came into national consciousness after being found by the LORD in the place of prayer and using the anointing that came upon him to kill a giant. All that happened after he turned seventeen.

His core mandate was to locate where the Temple, a significant architectural masterpiece that played a major role in God’s redemptive plans, was to be build. His next assignment was to clear off all ungodly nations living on the property or around the area, and that He did very well.

He said many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivered him from them all. We have been looking at what our destinies needs to be fulfilled. We have shared quite a significant number, because it has been running for weeks now.

The next thing our divine destiny needs to be fulfilled is strategic deliverance from afflictions, especially the type that David and other Bible men experienced.

Many are always the affliction of some destiny men and women. Sometimes they will not even say a word, and the devil will unleash all hell upon them. They will be found going through things that only criminals should go through, while the criminals themselves walk free.

INDEED, MANY ARE THE AFFLICTIONS OF THE RIGHTEOUS.

The first time I heard that scripture mentioned was in the mouth of my Spiritual father. I thought the righteous cannot be afflicted until then. He spent time telling our little church then what he had gone through in life and ministry and how the LORD delivered him.

Men and women who have something to do with God will go through afflictions. Sometimes from wicked and unreasonable people.

Yes, people who are pursuing God’s pre planned programs for their lives, will be afflicted, but the LORD promised us deliverance. Some will go through the afflictions created by wicked and unreasonable church members, spouses, children, parents, mothers, fathers, bosses, uncles, and even so-called servants of God.

If you want to live a godly life, and release your destiny, then get ready for afflictions, because not everyone is under the control of God. Some are under the sway of Satan, and they will move against you. The Bible says:

“Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.” 2 Timothy 3:12-13 NKJV

Sometimes the many afflictions of the righteous are not generated directly by the devil but by evil men, impostors, and wicked and unreasonable people in our space. Understand that when you are poised to unleash your destiny, you will do things that touch or shift hell. When you shift hell, it will move hellish people against you.

That is why your destiny will need timely deliverance from such evil men, impostors, wicked and unreasonable men or women to be fulfilled. It will need deliverance from the activities of hellish people to be fulfilled. You see all that in the scriptures.

In fact, the Bible holds eternal records of men and women whose destinies would not have been fulfilled if not for God’s saving arm.

ONE OF THEM WAS JOHN THE BELOVED!

Before going to die on the Cross, Jesus spoke about the destiny of John the beloved. His said part of his destiny will be to see or receive the eschatological dimensions of God’s redemptive programs and keep for the church.

Many years later, after the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, even before he fulfilled that part of his destiny, a king arose who was under the sway of Satan. The authority of that king had him thrown into a boiling pot of oil. The part of his destiny that was yet to be fulfilled was in danger.

But God moved to turn the boiling pot of oil into a swimming pool for John the beloved. The LORD delivered him from that affliction.
He would go to fulfill his destiny as John the Revelator, by receiving and submitting to the church what we now know as the Book of Revelation. Your destiny will need such interventions and deliverances from the LORD to be fulfilled.

Now, some of the worst attacks you may face on earth, as a destiny person will not always come from expected quarters. Most of them will come from unexpected quarters. Afflictions from unexpected quarters are the most lethal and will need strategic deliverance from the LORD for one to come out well.

Jesus was betrayed by Judas. He was terribly afflicted and tortured by people whose hands He was betrayed into. Paul had those he called false brethren. One of the unexpected people that afflicted him and tried to ruin his ministry was called Alexander the copper smith.

The man of God said he did him much evil and requested that the LORD rewards him.

Jesus calls people who lurked around our life, looking for opportunity to strike us, snakes, scorpions, and vipers. He will always deliver us from them all.

Child of God, understand that our God is a deliverer! You will never know that until you face an attack. He delivered Peter, Paul, and many of the great people of God in their days. He will also deliver us in our days. The very portals He opened to deliver them in their days have not been shut down. They are still open.

The Bible says …He guards all his bones; not one of them is broken. Believing this word is very important. Trusting it is not an option but the only option.

During an attack, we must learn to maintain our trust in the LORD to do what He has promised us in His word. Trusting in the LORD to do all He said He will do during an attack is the key to seeing His promised deliverance. That was why Jesus prayed that Peter’s faith remains strong in an attack God revealed was coming.

Our trust in God must remain firm until it connects us to the faith to turn the battle to the gate and obtain victory. It is my prayer that God will use these words to give you an inheritance among they that are sanctified. Amen!!

MAKE THIS SCRIPTURE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR THE DAY!

“Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.

Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; do not fret — it only causes harm. For evildoers shall be cut off; but those who wait on the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.

For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more; Indeed, you will look carefully for his place, but it shall be no more.” Psalms 37:5-10 NKJV
