TODAY’S DEVOTION (MONDAY 18th August 2025)
“You are my hiding place; you shall preserve me from trouble; you shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Do not be like the horse or like the mule, which have no understanding, which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, else they will not come near you.
Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him. Psalms 32:7-10 NKJV
WELCOME TO THE 230TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY
God has been so faithful to us this year. He has watched over us, provided for us, guided us, taught us, anointed us, fed us both spiritually and naturally, fought for us, given us rest, and granted us amazing victories.
We know with the whole of our heart that we will see great things in the remaining part of this year, and much greater things in 2026.
We have been looking at the things that our prophetic destiny needs to be fulfilled, and we thank God for His marvelous truths that have been coming to us by His holy Spirit. This morning, He has a word for us! In it we will be finding the next thing that our prophetic destiny needs to be fulfilled.
Our devotional text today is full of the rhema word. A rhema word is a word from the breath of the almighty, the Holy Spirit. It can also be called a prophetic word because of the direction it brings. The first prophetic word we can glean from the text says, “You are my hiding place; you shall preserve me from trouble; you shall surround me with songs of deliverance.”
From personal experiences and based on what the Bible teaches, our divine destiny will need us making God our hiding place to be fulfilled. If God is not your hiding place, it will be impossible to even walk in other things that guarantees the release of our destiny.
God being a man’s hiding place, brings a lot of blessings. The best of all is the possibility of living under what the Bible calls the shadow of the Almighty. That is the shadow that guarantees all that is taught in Psalm 91.
IT IS BIGGER THAN HAVING SOME OILS ON YOUR HEAD BY SOME MISGUIDED PREACHERS.
Everyone on earth is looking for who to hide under. The battles of life have become so terrible that if you do not make God your hiding place, you will have yourself to blame. The Bible says you will never be preserved from trouble neither will you be surrounded with songs of deliverance.
Sadly, people are good at making men their hiding place. You might never fulfill your destiny making people your hiding place. Can you imagine if David had made men His hiding place, Saul would have killed him, and he would not have fulfilled his destiny.
There was a time he wanted to make the people of Keilah his hiding place, and the LORD said to him it was a wrong idea because they would betray him. That was how he was saved from death. People you make your hiding place will betray you. Some will even deceive you until you are ruined.
Samson made Delilah his hiding place and she destroyed his life. If not for the mercies of the LORD, he would not have finished strong. No destiny man or woman will amount to anything making people their hiding place.
When you make a man your hiding place, your heart will always go to him each time you are in trouble. But when you make God your hiding place, your heart will always go to Him when you are in trouble. Wherever or whoever your heart goes to when you are in trouble is your hiding place. The person who you trust!
If it is man, then you are in more trouble because the Bible teaches that we should not trust the arm of flesh – either yourself or others. It will never save us in time of trouble. The Bible made it clear that cursed is the man who trusts in man (including himself). It says he or she shall not see when good comes (Jeremiah 17:5-8).
If you trust in yourself therefore, your bank account, your siblings, your father, mother, aunties or uncles you will suffer. If you trust in your boss, your president, your job or even some charms in your pocket, hell will have you. If you trust in even your pastor, perfect peace is not guaranteed. Trust in God alone.
MAKE HIM YOUR HIDING PLACE AND YOU WILL BE KEPT IN PERFECT PEACE IN A TROUBLE WORLD LIKE OURS.
The wicked is doing more wickedly today. Life is becoming more difficult for humanity. Things are going out of hand in so many nations. Diseases, death and demons now eat more people than they ate in time past. Fresh portals of evil are opening on daily bases. Perfect peace has become the greatest need of the hour.
But perfect peace does not come by giving some sacrificial offerings to some preachers, drinking oil, using soil, sand, water etc. to pray. That will bring perfect trouble to you because you are touching witchcraft. Perfect peace comes when you make God your hiding place. It comes when your mind stays on Him. The Bible says:
“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.” Isaiah 26:3-4 NKJV
If you trust in God and keep your mind on Him, he will keep you in perfect peace. However, for that to happen, you must discipline your mind – you must restrain your mind to stay on Him, and that is done by living a prayerful life that eats His word daily.
In a perverse and crooked generation, your mind can only stay on God if you give yourself continually to prayer and the ministry of the word. Our Apostolic fathers said to themselves in their days; “but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word” (Acts 6:4 NKJV).
They made that decision in times when the Church was experiencing both growth and persecution. They needed their hearts on God in both times. It was a decision to run after God with an increased speed.
You see, there are two things that make people run after God. The first is divine hunger for more of Him. The second is the speed at which Satan is pursuing you. If the devil runs after you and you do not run after God, by giving yourself continually to prayers and the ministry of the word, he will catch up with you!
CURSES, DISEASES, DEATH, SORROWS, AND ALL FORMS OF EVIL ARE RUNNING AFTER PEOPLE. BUT THE PEOPLE ARE NOT RUNNING AFTER GOD.
Some who are running after God are not running after the true God. That I why what is pursuing them is catching up with them. But our fathers decided to run after God to keep their minds on Him so that they will be kept in perfect peace and fulfilled their destinies.
If we do not do the same in our days, there is no way our mind will be disciplined to stay on God. People who have made God their hiding place run after Him. They do not run after people. They run after God. That is also their way of making sure their minds are stayed on Him.
There are no words to describe what your life will be if you do not train your mind through prayer and the word to stay on God in a trouble-filled word like ours! The last part of our devotional text said, “Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him”. Hallelujah!
May mercy surrounds you in Jesus precious name! Amen
However, for mercy to surround you, you must trust in the LORD and demonstrate it by aligning yourself with the preceding scriptural text. It says “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Do not be like the horse or like the mule, which have no understanding, which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, else they will not come near you.”
We began this devotional by admonishing us to make God our hiding place.
We shared that if God become your hiding place it will show in your trust in Him. Your mind will be trained to stay on Him. But there is fresh truth we can glean from this scriptural text. It shows us one major way to make God our hiding place – and this is by allowing Him to instruct, teach, and guide us.
Giving yourself continually to times of prayer and the ministry of the word will train your mind to stay on Him. Receiving instructions, teachings, and guidance from His mouth will get you hidden in Him. Psalm 91 further tells us what will happen if we get hidden in Him.
It tells us that we will be protected from diseases; death, trouble and all that hell do throw at humanity. We will be carrying His shadow wherever we go, even bringing healing to a dying world that turns to the LORD for mercy. That was what happened to our apostolic fathers; that was why they turned their world right up and brought down demonic strongholds wherever they went.
It’s a new day for you. May the LORD use these words to build you up and give you an inheritance among they that are sanctified. AMEN
MAKE THIS SCRIPTURE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR THE DAY!
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked.
Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.” Psalm 91:1-16 NKJV
