THE CRY OF THE SPIRIT DEVOTIONALS – BY RICHARD E. S. TAKIM

TODAY’S DEVOTION (WEDNESDAY 20TH August 2025)

“The foolishness of a man twists his way, and his heart frets against the Lord.” Proverbs 19:3 NKJV

WELCOME TO THE 232ND DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY

We slept and woke up because the LORD kept us. The holy scriptures teach that daily He loads us with benefits. One of the benefits is sleeping and waking up in peace.

I have said this before, it could be humane to fall asleep, but to wake up is divine.

It takes God who gives us sleep to withdraw it at the right time so that we can wake up. He has been faithful and kind. Not dealing with us according to our shortcomings and ignorance but according to His mercies. To Him all the glory belongs. Amen and amen!

The LORD has been taking us on a journey of truth on things that our divine destinies need to be fulfilled. It’s been an enlightening journey of faith. Today we want to look at the next. If you will ever fulfill your divine destiny, you must watch against foolishness.

Yes, foolish deeds, or decisions can be very costly to a man’s destiny.

The Bible calls God “All wise God.” Meaning, foolishness does not exist in HIM. Foolishness is one thing the book of proverbs strongly talks about; a lifestyle it strongly attacked, and one root cause of the sorrows of most men and women of destiny.

Sometimes I wonder if it is possible for all wise God to have foolish Children. No, it is not possible if the children live in Him and He truly lives in them, to lead them in all they do. He said in the book of Psalms, “I will instruct and teach you in the way you should go. I will guide you with my eye.”

But most of us do not position ourselves properly for Him to instruct, teach or guide, hence taking foolish decisions that hinder the release of our destines.

One act of foolishness is sometimes all that devil needs to sink a glorious destiny. Yes, one act of foolishness is all hell needs to build a siege over our lives. I have done some foolish things I am not proud about, and I know what I went through. You cannot be foolish and fulfill a divine destiny.

YOUR LIFE WILL BE PEACEFUL, PROGRESSIVE, AND FINE, UNTIL YOU TAKE A FOOLISH STEP. THAT IS WHEN ALL HELL WILL LET LOOSE.

You will begin to see yourself going through the very things God has been protecting you from. If you would ever fulfill your destiny, you must avoid foolishness at all costs. It depletes the success of a man or woman of destiny and turns his or her glory to ashes.

Sometimes foolish steps or decisions do not appear foolish; they appear like the best thing to do in a given situation.

You might be shocked to discover that Samson thought it was the best thing to do to reveal the secret of his strength to Delilah. King Saul must have thought it was the best thing to do not to fully obey the LORD, but please the people. David must have thought it was the best thing to do to satisfy his sexual desires and kill a man to cover the consequences.

A young woman might think it’s the best thing to do to be sleeping with anyone who finds them attractive, using birth control pills to avoid pregnancies, until they find a husband among the men they sleep with. Another one may think to keep their husbands, the best thing to do is give them good sex instead of good behavior.

A man might think the best thing to do is to be sleeping with any woman available to them, helping them terminate their pregnancies, and so forth. Another might think it is the best thing to do to find a woman who will be taking care of them while they sleep with her or marry a woman who will bear the cost of their welfare.

All these things are very foolish steps that appear to be the best things to do. Foolishness, no matter how pleasurable or money-spinning it might be, is not the best path to follow in life.

IT IS BECAUSE OF THESE THINGS THAT LIVES ARE RUINED IN THE LONG RUN.

Our devotional text says, “The foolishness of a man twists his way, and his heart frets against the Lord.” (Proverbs 19:3 NKJV). We cannot count the number of lives that have been twisted by foolishness, and they end up in hospital beds, and finally in the grave.

We cannot count the number of those whose lives were twisted by foolishness, and they ended up in hell. A lot of those who think witches are the ones twisting their lives and making things difficult for them, are twisted by their foolishness.

God wants that to stop because when foolishness twists our ways, binding and losing in prayer and fasting will not help us in any way.

Someone might think since no husband is coming, the best thing to do is to have a child out of wedlock or get hooked up to a married man or find an old sex mate who might be married or single to be sleeping with. Those are foolish decisions that can destroy a divine destiny.

Even in showing kindness and mercy, foolishness must not be embraced. It will ruin if we do. We must not do what we consider best only to discover it was a foolish decision. For instance, it is the best thing to do to see someone in need and attempt to help them, but that has ruined so many in life because of how it was done.

Yes, it is the best thing to do, to forgive one who wrongs you repeatedly, but that has destroyed the destiny of people who did so.

The foolishness is not always in the acts of kindness or the show of mercy but in how the acts of kindness or the show of mercy were administered. When people administer kindness in foolishness, they will run into lifetime problems. When people forgive those who wrong them in very foolish ways, they will ruin their lives.

WHEN PEOPLE OF DESTINY DO THE RIGHT THINGS IN FOOLISH WAYS, THEY WILL DESTROY THEMSELVES.

Most of us Children of God, especially those who claim to be either hearing or seeing from God are damn foolish. I have found many of us frustrating the arm of the LORD and making prayers powerless with the instrumentality of our foolishness.

Most of those people say, are under curses hence cannot get married, get rich, or become successful in life, are not really destroyed by curses but foolishness. Their foolish deeds and attitudes are the curse ruining them. When foolish deeds and attitude are the curses ruining your life, no prayer can save you.

You must reform your ways to be free from your problems.

Another thing about foolishness that we must know is this; Foolishness is a trigger of premature death. Sadly speaking, people have died prematurely because of foolishness. The list of what foolishness can do is endless. Time to begin to seek the LORD in prayer for wisdom and for the total elimination of foolishness.

Jeremiah 33:3 says, “call unto me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things that you know not.” When we begin to call on the LORD for elimination of foolishness, our lives will improve.

Yes, we are in the New Testament, instead of calling on God to eliminate witches, we should call on Him to eliminate foolishness in our lives, because foolishness is what hands us over to witches and wizards to feed on. Instead of calling on God to eliminate your enemies, call on Him to eliminate foolishness in your heart because foolishness is our most lethal enemy.

If your foolishness is what is twisting your ways and you are blaming the twist on something else, your marriage, finances, health, ministry, or spiritual life, or whatever is being affected by it will never be healed, restored, or salvaged. Things will remain difficult no matter what.

It is my prayer that we all invade the throne of God’s grace and begin to spend time each day asking Him to eliminate foolishness in our lives and give us Heavenly wisdom to run our ways. As we do that, the Bible must not be far from us because with our mouth we request for wisdom, and with our studying the scriptures, we collect it.

LET THIS SCRIPTURES BE ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR TODAY.

“And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” . 2 Timothy 3:15-17 kjv
