THE CRY OF THE SPIRIT DEVOTIONALS – BY RICHARD E. S. TAKIM

TODAY’S DEVOTION (FRIDAY 22ND August 2025)

Moreover, He called for a famine in the land; He destroyed all the provision of bread. He sent a man before them— Joseph—who was sold as a slave.

They hurt his feet with fetters; He was laid in irons. Until the time that his word came to pass, the word of the Lord tested him.

The king sent and released him, The ruler of the people let him go free. He made him lord of his house, And ruler of all his possessions, To bind his princes at his pleasure, And teach his elders wisdom. Psalm 105:16-22 NKJV

WELCOME TO THE 234TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY

Who is like unto our God in all the earth, who is like Him. He is glorious in Holiness and fearful in praise. Doing wonders and showing mercies to generations. He is the only God who finishes before He starts and declares the end from the beginning!

All other gods are just devils counterfeiting Him; and some just things men made with their hands. He said in His word, “to whom will you liken me.” If you try to compare Him with any created or non-created thing, you will miss it. Our mortal brains are too small to fathom His eternal nature, glory and power.

This morning this great and eternal GOD, who sits in the eternal Heaven but despises no human, has a word for us!

We are going to be sharing some kingdom matters that bother around our devotional text. I hope you are ready to eat this small meal from Heaven. Don’t forget, man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. There is a proceeding word for you this morning.

We have been looking at what our divine destinies need to be fulfilled.

The LORD has shown us amazing spiritual insights on the subject matter. It is important to understand that the release of divine destiny is the reason for Christianity. Wherever divine destiny is not released, the purpose of Christianity is not fulfilled.

When Jesus meets anyone, He will say to them, “follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” In 1985, our class teacher described Christians as followers of Christ. When you truly follow Christ, you will end up unlocking or releasing your divine destiny because He is the very destiny we are releasing. Hallelujah!!!

Yes, Jesus Christ in us is our divine destiny. We do not have anything to release apart from what He manifests in and through us.

The assignments He places on our lives, the mandates He hangs on our shoulders, the kingdom advance yokes we bear, the people He placed in our lives to impact for Him, the voice of His Holy Spirit that leads us to even places we would ordinarily not want to go, and many other things too numerous to state, all constitute the big divine destiny we are destined to fulfill or release.

INDEED, JESUS IS THE VERY DESTINY WE ARE CALLED TO FULFILL. THERE CAN BE NO BETTER WAY TO PUT IT!!!

God buried our riches in our divine destiny, and Christ is that destiny we are called to fulfill. He made sure the storehouse of our provision, sustenance, life peace, progress, and success is buried within His assignment for our lives. The Bible calls it “His riches in glory.”

The storehouse empties itself only on those who are busy fulfilling His will for their lives. He designed that our lives take a brighter turn when we get buried in the things He pre planned to do in and through us. That is why if one is not busy fulfilling God’s vision for his or her life, nothing good from heaven will empty itself on that life.

The Bible says no good thing will God withhold from those who walks uprightly. The prosperity of the righteous springs from the good things God releases into our lives as we pursue the release of our destiny. That is why you see the prosperity of the righteous happening because of the release of his or her divine destiny.

I believe strongly that there would have been no poor one among us if all Christians had focused their faith on releasing their divine destiny in Christ Jesus. God designed that where there is no release of divine destiny, there will be no release of divine provision.

You see that all through the holy scriptures.

When Israel (the Church in the Old Testament) came out of Egypt, there was no poor one among them. Everyone was made a Billionaire in one night because they all stepped into divine destiny.

WHEN YOU STEP INTO DIVINE DESTINY, LACK, POVERTY AND ALL THAT IS NOT GOD’S PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE WILL BEGIN TO GET NEUTRALIZED.

The lives of all who walked with God in the days of the Bible teaches that, evil will always step out of the lives of those who step into their divine destiny.

For instance, the life of Saul was full of blood – shedding the blood of the saints and trying to destroy the Church was his mission. But when he stepped into divine destiny, evil departed from him. He became known as Paul and lived his days maintaining his freedom by living a life that remained obedient to the Heavenly calling of his divine destiny.

Evil and all forms of economic hardship will step out of your life as soon as you step into the assignment of your divine destiny.

You do not step in and out, but you step in and hang on there until all the enemy pushed into your life is gone. Sometimes you step in without knowing you have stepped into destiny like Joseph never knew when the Ishmaelites bought him. When his brother reduced his value to some pieces of silver, he never knew it was a step into destiny.

When those who bought him kept him like a goat in the marketplace, he never knew he had stepped into destiny. The Bible says they bonded him with chains and that the archers wounded him. But all that was a step into destiny, described in scriptures as the word of the LORD testing Him.
At one time he was thrown into prison for a lie told on him because of his refusal to follow the sexual conduct of the Egyptians, sleeping with his boss. Though not pleasant, that also was part of his step into destiny!!

His life proved that sometimes the beginning days or years of stepping into destiny might not be pleasant. But the end will always prove you walked with the LORD. The Bible says though our beginning may be small, the end will always be great.

SO, EVEN IF THINGS ARE NOT WORKING, HANG ON THERE IF YOU ARE SURE THE LORD IS INVOLVED.

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Those who remain faithful in tears, will reap with joy. The beginning of stepping into destiny is not always pleasant. Let no one deceive you!!

Paul stepped into destiny as Saul, and his welcome to destiny was not pleasant. He was thoroughly beaten by a Jewish mob. He was beaten until He was left for death. In today’s world, they will tell him he never heard clearly, and that the vision on the way to Damascus was hallucination.

They will say if God was really involved, that beating would not have happened.

But it did happen, and God was involved in his decision to step into destiny. He said to king Agripa, “I was not disobedient to the heavenly calling.” Yes, his beginning was not pleasant at all, but at the end He said, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.” That is the Spirit!!!

There is another side of the coin. You may step into destiny in very unpleasant circumstances like Jospeh and Paul did, but things will not remain forever unpleasant. A time will come when there will be a change. You will find everything that was difficult to come by in time pass, becoming easy for you.

After enduring the season of tears and unpleasant happenings, you will come into a season of accelerated progress. Joseph entered that season and became all things we grew to read about in 24 hours. A major part of our devotional text put it this way:

“The king sent and released him, the ruler of the people let him go free. He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his possessions, to bind his princes at his pleasure, and teach his elders wisdom.” Psalm 105:16-22 NKJV

From the life of Joseph, we can see that God’s plans for your life remain great and beautiful. If your life is not great and beautiful, it is because you have not stepped into them, or maybe you have stepped into them, but need to hold on to the end.

For those insulting God or blaming him for their situation, please stop. Just start unleashing your destiny by pursuing His assignment for your life. You may not need to start big, just begin small, even if it is unpleasant, hold on to His word, and you will see the favor of the LORD.

MAKE THIS SCRIPTURE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR THE DAY!

“Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him. The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous;” Genesis 26:12-13 NKJV
