THE CRY OF THE SPIRIT DEVOTIONALS – BY RICHARD E. S. TAKIM

TODAY’S DEVOTION (SATURDAY 4TH October 2025)

“He who observes the wind will not sow, And he who regards the clouds will not reap. As you do not know what is the way of the wind, Or how the ones grow in the womb of her who is with child, So you do not know the works of God who makes everything.

In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand; For you do not know which will prosper, Either this or that, Or whether both alike will be good.” Ecclesiastes 11:4-6 NKJV

WELCOME TO THE 277TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY

The devotional text of the 277th day of the year is still the same as that of 276th day. This is because of a prophetic stop we sense around it. A prophetic stop happens when the Holy Spirit keeps your heart fixed on one scripture until all the insights, He wants you to get from it, is found.

It is another bright and beautiful day in LORD, and like I have always shared, for us Citizens of God’s kingdom, every day is a seed sown into our lives to bring forth a harvest of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.

However, these harvests can only be reaped if we spend the day as we should. One of the many significant and productive ways the Bible teaches that we can spend our days is in the book of Galatians chapter 6. The Bible says:

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”

“For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”

“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” Galatians 6:7-9NKJV

Hidden in these scriptures is how God wants you and I to spend our days. We are to spend them sowing to please the Spirit of the living God not the sinful flesh with sin living in it. Living in sin becomes possible when the sinful flesh becomes our guide.

The Bible teaches that if we spend our days sowing seeds of positive response into the sinful flesh, we will reap corruption. On the other side of the coin, if we sow to please the Holy Spirit, we will reap everlasting life.

It is impossible therefore, to reap righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost as harvests if one is living a life that pleases the sinful flesh. Sadly, many people whose lives have become sour have not come to terms with the fact that they created it by their consistent sowing to please the flesh.

THEY DO NOT REALIZE THAT IF THE HARVEST COMES, IT DOES NOT BRING JOY BUT SORROW, AND THAT ONLY GOD’S MERCY CAN SAVE US.

Some will even blame God for things their decision, making it impossible to get redemption. They do not instead admit their wrongs, take up responsibility and seek God for mercy.

God said to us:

…….“You have sold yourselves for nothing, and you shall be redeemed without money.” Isaiah 52:3 NKJV

We sell ourselves to the enemy each time we sow to please the flesh, but the Bible says we shall be redeemed without money. How can the God who is willing to save us from our self-inflicted sorrows be responsible for them? When you lie against a man, you might be free, but if you lie against god who will set you free?

God is not the reason and will never be the reason for our pains, sorrows, etc. Our sowing to please the flesh is the reason for our restlessness, pains, sorrows, depression, suicidal thoughts, sadness, disappointments, etc. If we sow to please the flesh, the sin that will come out of it will be consuming our peace, joy, expectations, desire to live, health, finances, focus, or even a glorious future.

Have you ever heard people say they had a bad day? Why do people have bad days? The reason is simple. They probably spent a portion of their day sowing to please the flesh! They may have responded to all the flesh asked them to do – get angry, respond to a provocation, hate, set your eyes on some explicit pictures, be disappointed, satisfy this carnal craving etc.

You will never have a good day in your life sowing to please your flesh.

Now, let us take a closer look at the verses. The first one made it clear that God has set a spiritual law in motion, that makes sure that whatever we sow we will reap. If we sow to please the flesh and then go and pray or fast against the harvest of our seed, it will not work.

THE HARVEST WILL STILL COME, LEADING TO A BAD DAY – AND SOMETIMES BAD DAYS.

God wants us to spend our days as we should, and one way to do that is make sure we do not sow to please our flesh. For that to happen, we must come under the influence of God’s words so that whatever we do, will be a response to God’s word, will, and ways.

Yes, all we will do will be because of being sold out to the LORD not to the flesh.

We must understand that prayers do not work where we have sown to please our flesh. The harvest will be sure because God is not a law breaker. He could suspend laws but does not break them. It is therefore better not to sow to please your flesh than to do it trusting God to take care of the result.

We reiterate again that the best way to spend your day as a Child of God, is to spend it sowing to please the Spirit, because “he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life”

Let me say again that every time you spend watching a movie that enhances your faith, it is a seed you have sown to please the Spirit. But anytime you spend time watching a movie that stirs the sin in you, it is a seed you have sown to please the flesh. There are no two ways to do it.

It is what comes into our hearts that determines what we do with our body; either to present it as a living sacrifice, pure and holy to the LORD, or to present it as an instrument of sin. That is why you find people who want to live for God being careful of what they watch, hear, or see with their eyes.

THEY LIVE THEIR DAYS DOING ONLY WHAT WILL BRING OUT PURITY, RIGHTEOUSNESS, PEACE AND JOY IN THE HOLY GHOST OUT OF THEM.

For instance, attending a Bible meeting where you are taught the ways of God, or listening to a compact disc that contains the good word of God, is a seed sown to please the Spirit, hence will bring our purity from your life.

Staying away from gossips, sinful people, striving men and women, and whatever does not edify, is a seed you have sown to please the Spirit, hence you will find righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost springing out of your untainted heart.

If we want to live our days in the bliss of the Holy Spirit, the Bible shows us the way. It says we should not grow weary in doing good. In other words, we should not grow weary in sowing to please the Spirit every day of our lives. The reason is we shall reap if we faint not! The raw King James version puts it this way.

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Galatians 6:9 KJV

Reaping the seed we sow to please the spirit, has three harvest seasons. You will move from one to another as you progress with the Holy Spirit. The first is you breaking forth in righteousness, the next is you breaking forth in Joy because of the miracles, signs and wonders you will be experiencing. The Bible says:

“When the Lord brought back the captivity of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, And our tongue with singing.

Then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” The Lord has done great things for us, and we are glad. Psalm 126:1-3 NKJV

Our devotional text this morning says, “He who observes the wind will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap.”

Meaning while sowing the please the Holy Spirit, we should not observe the winds that come to discourage us. Yes, terrible winds from terrible people can cause us to faint from doing good. But the Bible says, we should not faint, that we will only reap the beautiful harvests of our good deeds if we do not faint from doing the good deeds.

THE EVIL WINDS THAT PREVENT PEOPLE FROM LIVING HOLY LIVES AND BEING HONEST ARE ALSO BLOWING EVERYWHERE.

Today they blow on Godly youths and God-fearing Christians to turn them into vile grapes. You will find a young men or women who have kept themselves pure tormented by their friends to give up their purity. It’s absurd. However, God wants us to stand firm and not allow the evil winds to prevail against us. Our text continued by saying:

“In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand; for you do not know which will prosper, either this or that, or whether both alike will be good.”

What is the morning and what is the evening? The Bible says weeping may endure for a night, but Joy comes in the morning. Our morning represents a time of joy and our evening a time of trial.

This scripture means, when we are at a time of joy, we should still sow to please the Spirit, and when we are in a time of weeping (facing the evil winds of mockery and discouragement), we should keep sowing to please the Spirit. We can only reap the reward if we do that.

I believe the message of today’s devotional has been passed. Any problem you create by sowing to please your flesh cannot be solved by prayer, fasting or giving. It can only be solved through repentance and the healing of the breach, which can be swift or not swift, depending on the gravity of what you did.

The Bible promises that we shall be redeemed without money!!!

LET THIS SCRIPTURE BE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR YOU TODAY!

“Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” Psalms 126:5-6 NKJV
