TODAY’S DEVOTION (MONDAY 6TH October 2025)
“The days of our lives are seventy years; and if by reason of strength they are eighty years, yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.”
“Who knows the power of your anger? For as the fear of you, so is your wrath. So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Psalms 90:10-12 NKJV
WELCOME TO THE 279TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY
This is for those who are younger. Do you usually sit down to worry about how you will physically look like at 80, 90 or more if the LORD keeps you alive? I do sometimes. There are times I would sit down to ask myself how I would look physically or be (in terms of strength) at 80 if the LORD allows me to get there.
I want to remain strong enough to serve the LORD in old age. So, when I look at how strong men of God who have gone to be with the LORD looked like at even 90, I take courage. Sometimes I worry so much about the future and what it holds for me and those the LORD has given me.
But during those moments the Spirit of the LORD will make me understand that our future is not in our hands. Our future is in God’s hands. In fact, God is our future. If we live in Him and walk with Him, we are living and walking in our future already. Hallelujah!
Our devotional word today is another talk on the release of prosperity, that is the prosperity of the righteous. Let me begin with a word on ministry – I mean gospel ministry – the ministry of seeking and saving that which was lost.
Ministry is simply service to the Most High God. True preaching itself flows from the fountain of a preacher’s walk and talk with God; it flows from a lifestyle from God. So, rejoicing with me and sharing this devotional on same flow is within the boundaries of the divine will of God.
I have come to discover that one major ingredient that can help the righteous release their prosperity is the stories and secrets of those who may have traveled the paths God wants them to take in life. Yes, the stories of those who unleashed the prosperity of the righteous (not that of wicked or a fool).
Sadly, so many people we term prosperous have the prosperity of the wicked or a fool, so we cannot really learn from them, else we become like them. We will have to either depend on the scriptures or find the few who prospered in God’s will for their lives and learn from them.
DO NOT FORGET, PROSPERITY IS NOT HAVING MONEY BUT HAVING THE PRESENCE OF GOD THAT BRINGS THE MONEY.
That presence does not just bring money but wisdom, direction, vision, peace, health, protection, purity, supernatural power, righteousness, integrity and other Christlike virtues we need to stay prosperous and keep a healthy relationship with the LORD.
For the righteous, the presence of the LORD is the source of their prosperity. The people we must learn from are those who got it by the presence of the LORD, not any other way.
I remember sitting down with someone who is ahead of men on these matters years ago to ask questions on how he has carried himself under the grace that God has given him up to that time. The secrets and stories of his life were some of the catalysts God used in pushing me into my financial destiny.
I desired to have the God he had, the moves of the Spirit he saw, and the cloud of glory he was under. I discovered that if I have sufficient presence like him or like Elijah in the Bible, even the Ravens will be made to feed me. I will not lack what I need to do God’s will and take care of myself and others.
Perhaps if he had not shared those things with me, I would not have been where I am today in spirit and in truth. Someone once said the easiest way to know how far or near your journey in life will be is to ask anyone coming from similar destination.
Sometimes, you will need the stories of, not noise makers who shout revival, or those who carry the anointing, but men and women who truly carry the presence of the LORD, to find your own path in the active or manifest presence of God.
ONCE YOU GET THERE, AND FIND A PEG IN THE HOLY PLACE, YOU WILL BEGIN TO UNLEASH YOUR PROSPERITY.
The Bible is there to guide us, but the stories of men who walk in the light of Bible truth and carried the presence of the LORD is always an added advantage. It is always enlightening to read about a man or woman who walked in the very paths you are desiring to walk in, even as you study the scriptures to make the footsteps of the LORD your pathways.
A man of God once said he read so many autobiographies of men and women who traded the paths he wanted to follow in life before launching out his ministry. If you read the stories of men and women who carried what you desire to carry in God, you will find light and understanding of how to lead your own life, you will find success paths to walk in.
A major highlight in our devotional text today says; “So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
This scripture is very significant to me, especially these seasons. Our days are full of stories that if shared with a younger generation could be of help in their quest to fulfill God’s will for their lives. So, if we number them accurately, we can come out with records and details of events that characterize them for the benefit of others.
The stories of men and women I have read, who numbered their days and applied their hearts unto wisdom tells me that the presence of God will help you find what you were born for and strengthen you to begin to live for it. That is when you will begin to unleash your prosperity.
Personally, I had no essence, significance or meaning in life until I stepped into my destiny, and that happened when I turned 17 or so. The presence of the LORD we were pursuing with my friends helped us to find out what I was born for and further strengthened me to make it my purpose for living. That happened between my 15th and 17th year on earth.
IT MAY INTEREST YOU TO KNOW THAT MAKING MONEY HAS NEVER BEEN MY LIFE GOAL, EVEN IF WE WERE BORN VERY POOR.
Serving God in power and efficiency had been my life goal. I wanted to be able to heal the sick, cast out demons, preach the gospel in power, stop the gates of hell, and break spiritual prisons to bring souls out by decrees. That had been my life goals, whose achievement was not possible without the presence of the LORD.
So, to achieve these goals, I made the pursuit of God’s manifest presence my main thrust. Today, money is not a thing of concern to me but living for God and doing His blessed will.
Over the years, I have seen the presence of the LORD bring me money and amazing financial provisions that you can see, never came by might or by power but by the Spirit of the living God, through the hands of people whose lives were supernaturally changed by the LORD, under our apostolic mantle.
I learned that the righteous are not to make money-making their life goal, they should make Heaven making and the release of destiny their life goals. If they do, they will pursue the presence of the LORD and find it. If they find it, money will begin to pursue them, as they use what they have found to solve problems or meet people’s needs.
Since then, though there is more distance to cover, the LORD’s presence has brought wisdom, direction, provision, peace, health, protection, purity, supernatural power, righteousness, integrity and other Christlike virtues that have made us prosperous and we believe as we continue to uphold them, they will keep us prosperous.
As we bring this to a close, permit me to say this. Do not make financial possessions your life goal. Yes, do not. People who live just to make money have already failed in some sense. Treating money making as a life goal, as a saved and sanctified person, will ruin you.
The beginning of the fall of the righteous is sometimes traced to where he or she places money in their hearts.
For the righteous, prosperity (financial) is an added value from God for living the kingdom life. It is what God’s manifest presence adds to our lives when we seek His Kingdom, finds it, and begin to use what we have found to solve natural, spiritual and the eternal problems of those God has placed in our space.
Jesus said we cannot serve God and mammon. If you make having all you can and caning all you have, your life goal, you will soon wake up to realize that your soul is already in the market for sale. It is my prayer that we all follow the paths God has set for us in His word, in Jesus precious name. Amen!!
MAKE THIS SCRIPTURE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR THE DAY.
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:24,31-33 NKJV
