TODAY’S DEVOTION (TUESDAY 9TH DECEMBER 2025)
“It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night,
Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. For thou, Lord, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.
O Lord, how great are thy works! And thy thoughts are very deep. A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this. Psalms 92:1-6 KJV
WELCOME TO THE 342ND DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY
I have always believed that the last month of the year is the crowning season of that year. The reason is because, the Bible says, “God crowns our years with His goodness.” May He do so in your life in Jesus precious name. Amen!
I also believe it is our season of saying, in very significant ways, “thank you” to all who played great or small roles that keep us alive, strong, victorious, and or contributed to our lives in one way or the other, during the year (either physically or spiritually). Yes, it is a season for saying “thank you” in very strong ways, to all who took care of us, spiritually or physically, people who were kind, compassionate and like miracles to us during the year.
Someone must have given you the life you have now, especially at this time of the year; someone may have given you joy spiritually or physically, during the year.
Yes, someone may have fought for you, protected your marriage, your job, your spouse, your boss, your health, your finances, your career, your kids, your parents, or took care of you in special ways, or in ways your own relatives will not. This is the time to say thank you, in ways you never did during the year!!
Yes, someone may have done one thing or the other, that contributed to your getting to this time of the year, it could be giving you a significant cup of water like a rent payment, payment of your bills, an extra allowance at your place of work, a favor you never solicited for, a strong prayer cover, or even a labor in the word and doctrine to bring healing, deliverance, light and understanding, financial miracles, and the grace that kept you in the faith till this moment.
You may have appreciated them before, but this is the time to do it in ways you never did. What they did, small or great, is part of the reasons you are going to have a merry Christmas. Friend, this is our season of appreciating the people who did all the marvelous deeds we saw during the year.
THIS IS THE TIME TO THANK PEOPLE IN WAYS YOU HAVE NEVER DONE BEFORE, AN OUTGOING SEASON OF THE YEAR.
If you say you do not know who these special people are, maybe this will help you. The first person to thank in an outgoing year is God. A major highlight in our devotional text today says “O Lord, how great are thy works! And thy thoughts are very deep. A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this.”
If we look deeply into our lives, and harness how things went with us this year, gratitude to GOD will just spring up from our hearts. He fought our visible and invisible battles and gave us the victories.
He fed us with His faithfulness, He forgave our sins, both mild and terrible sins. He understood us more than the most loving people in our lives would do when we hurt Him with our ungodly behaviors. He never rewarded us according to our ways; He never did to us what men would have done to us when we hurt them.
He surrounded us with His angels which was why invisible dark forces, witches and wizards could not destroy our lives.
Not many people know that the earth is full of parading princes of darkness. Very dark and wicked spirits oversee the terrors that walk by night and arrows of destruction that flies by day. Yes, they oversee the pestilence that walks in darkness, and the destruction that lays waste at noon day; things that wipes people way before they see the last month of the year like we have seen.
We are here because God sent His angels to protect us from this invisible forces.
They got others and never got us, not because we are better than they, but because God’s unfailing mercies assigned these special forces of His Kingdom to watch over our lives unconditionally. His encamping angels, made sure that whatever dark spirits may be good at doing never came near us.
IT MADE SURE THAT ONLY WITH OUR EYES DID WE BEHELD THEM.
Friend, we must thank this God in ways we never did, and we must do so during this time of the year. We must thank Him for all things, especially for His encamping angels that fought many visible and invisible battles for us this year. Yes, they fought to deliver us from our fears. They fought in those seasons we cried out to the LORD in desperation.
Some of us saw Him deploy them, not just to see what was happening to us, but to take care of it swiftly. Many of us would have been no more if not for their activities.
They moved in moments to cut off things that would have cut us off in seconds. They worked on the workers of iniquity and prevented them from fulfilling their wicked intentions in our lives. These things resulted in the miracles we saw this year!
The Bible says, “the angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him” (Psalm 34: 7). We saw their encamping works in our lives. If God had not deployed them, we would not have seen those works. So, we are to thank God. He is the first to thank. He is the merciful God who does not deal with us according to our sins but according to His mercies.
He believes in our future more than even the most loving people in our lives. He has always looked at the glorious future He has created for us and forgave our sin, teaching us to go and sin no more so that we may get there. His forbearance has a purpose; we must thank Him for that purpose.
Maybe let me say something more about that before sharing the next person we must thank.
God is visionary in how He deals with us.
He deals with us based on what is lying ahead in our future, especially when we act like the worst sinners in the present. That is what the Bible calls His forbearance. That is what makes Him to send His Holy Spirit and Holy word to rebuke and bring us to repentance so that we will not destroy the glorious future He has prepared.
EVERY HUMAN MUST UNDERSTAND THAT A PRESENT SIN CAN DESTROY A GLORIOUS FUTURE, ESPECIALLY IF WE PERSIST IN IT.
God does not want our present sins to destroy our glorious future. That is why during the moments of our sins, part of what He does to make sure we do not continue in them, is to allow His angels to keep ministering to us by sending miracles our ways during His rebukes, corrections, and purification of our hearts and lives.
They do not do so we remain in them but so we see how loving God is and repent of them. But many do not repent, they rather abuse His grace by repeating them. You must no longer do so in the new year. You must not cut and destroy yourself either if you fall back to something you had vowed not to fall back to.
Falling back is only a sign that you still lack strength. It is a sign that you have the will but not the strength. What does God do to people who have the will but not the strength? He does not destroy or punish them. He helps them!!
So, instead of cutting yourself into pieces, spend more time fasting and praying, asking the LORD for the grace to sin no more. Do so until you find it. During the days and even after the days of your fast and prayer, cut off from people and things that influences you in the direction of that sin.
That is the secret of the journey!! Thank God for the journey and do not truncate it in any way!! God remains the first person to thank in any appreciation chain.
The next person to thank significantly this period of the year, is the person or people God used to do all the wonderful things you are thanking Him for. God use people to help people. He use people to minister to people. So, thank those people He used.
You are alive today because the people He used did one thing or the other to give you the year you have now. They gave you significant cups of water, for some it was basins of honey, metaphorically speaking. They just made your life beautiful by taking away your tears when you shed them, spiritually, physically, economically and emotionally.
These people could be your faithful father, mother, uncle, siblings, pastor, boss, staff, neighbor, work mate, men and women or church members who appeared in your life in your dark or happy moments. Child of God, find who did something kind in your life this year, and thank them in ways you never did during the year.
That is one of the messages of this devotional. It is what God wants you to do at this time of the year!! If you do, your year will be crowned with His goodness!! Amen.
MAKE THIS SCRIPTURE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR THE DAY;
“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; AND BE THANKFUL.” Colossians 3:12-15 NKJV (Emphasis Mine)
