TODAY’S DEVOTION (SUNDAY 15TH MARCH 2026)
“When he had spoken such words to me, I turned my face toward the ground and became speechless.
And suddenly, one having the likeness of the sons of men touched my lips; then I opened my mouth and spoke, saying to him who stood before me, “My lord, because of the vision my sorrows have overwhelmed me, and I have retained no strength.
For how can this servant of my lord talk with you, my lord? As for me, no strength remains in me now, nor is any breath left in me.” Then again, the one having the likeness of a man touched me and strengthened me.
Daniel 10:15-18 NKJV
WELCOME TO THE 74TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF STRATEGIC VICTORY
It pleases the LORD to keep us alive to see another week. This is the day the LORD has made, we shall rejoice and be glad in it. Today we will continue with the prophetic purpose of the mouth. There is a whole lot in God about the mouths He has given us. In our devotional text, we see another beautiful reason.
Part of the reasons you see Jesus restoring people’s speech; in other words, healing the dumb and giving those with speech impediment the ability to speak, is for their mouths to fulfill its prophetic purpose. It is with the mouth we communicate and related. Destinies are made or un-made by what they say.
Sometimes what you think may not hurt you because no one has heard it, but what you say will ultimately influence someone to hurt or help you.
One of the major truths you find in the book of James, is a truth that teaches that a proper use of the lips is a sign of spiritual maturity. It says one of the hallmarks of pure religion expresses itself in the use of our mouths or lips. A lot of preachers and believers in Christ are yet to come to the revelation of the prophetic purpose of our lips.
Let me bring something else to our attention. If we study the Bible, we will realize that there is an additional purpose of the mouth of a preacher. We will also discover that God’s expectation of the mouth of a preacher is different from the mouth of an average believer.
The Bible teaches that:
“For the priest’s lips should guard and keep pure the knowledge [of My law], and the people should seek (inquire for and require) instruction at his mouth; for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.”
Malachi 2:7 AMPC
Clearly, the mouth of a preacher is intended by the LORD to serve as a spiritual resource center for the average believers. If you find a preacher whose mouth is not serving as such, you have found one who had no knowledge of God’s purpose for his mouth.
THERE WERE SUCH PREACHERS IN BIBLE DAYS, AND THERE ARE STILL SOME OF THEM IN OUR DAYS.
The Pharisees and Sadducees where of this stock in the days of Jesus. He described them as graveyards. What do you think a man of ‘God’ whose spirit nature is that of a cemetery will bring upon your life if they open their mouths to preach, teach, or pray for you? He will never bring what the early church got when men like Paul, John the beloved, Peter and the rest spoke.
These Kind of preachers were the very ones God inspired Paul to write against, when he said to Titus that their mouths be stopped. The Bible says:
“For there are many insubordinate, both idle talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole households, teaching things which they ought not, for the sake of dishonest gain.”
Titus 1:10-11 NKJV
The mouth of a preacher whose heart has become a money bag, must be stopped. If it is not stopped, he will be preaching about raising of altar of sacrifice, dangerous prayers, spirit husbands, and other doctrines of devils and greed like the doctrine of the redemption of first born, sowing this seed and the other seed, etc.
In simple terms, his lips will be spewing out money making doctrines instead of Heaven making doctrines. Consequently, turning people twice the sons of hell than he is.
His church will run or operate either as a political party, metaphysical cult, social club, place of theatrical performance or a money-making machine. That is why Jesus called them graveyards or cemeteries. He said through Jeremiah that they will not profit God’s people.
IF YOU SEE THEM CELEBRATED BY ANYONE, THAT PERSON BY SPIRIT NATURE IS LOST. HE OR SHE IS NOT PART OF GOD’S PEOPLE.
There are so many believers today who will never make Heaven because of the spirit nature of the preachers they sit under. They sit under people who turn them into sons of hell, they give them an assurance of a salvation they do not really have.
How can you make Heaven under a preacher that Jesus described as a cemetery? No!! May God help us not to yield ourselves to such ministers, people Heaven has decreed that their mouths be stopped.
Yesterday, we stated that if your lips are bringing you trouble, it is a sign that you are yet to come into the revelation of what God gave you a mouth for. Some think the mouth is for eating and saying whatever they want to say. They think that the mouth is for venting our feelings, even when it is improper or even dangerous to do so.
The mouth is not for venting your feelings, especially when the atmosphere is not right. People who vent their feelings foolishly can bring a lot of trouble upon their lives. The Bible says:
A [self-confident] fool utters all his anger, but a wise man holds it back and stills it.”
Proverbs 29:11 AMPC
There are some who will say, “I am going to tell you the truth, either you like it or not.” Then they open their mouth and begin to say things that calls for blows. Do not forget what the Bible says about the mouth of a fool. It says it calls for blows. Your life will never be peaceful or great if you abuse the use of your mouth.
Our devotional text shows us the importance of the mouth even when one is in an intense presence of the LORD. The LORD had to touch Daniel’s lips so he could speak because the mouth was created for that purpose too, that we speak to God face to face.
It is my prayer that we will all allow our mouths to bring us the blessings God create them to bring into our lives. Amen!!
LET THIS SCRIPTURE BE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR THE DAY!!
“Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you to revere and worshipfully fear the Lord. What man is he who desires life and longs for many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit.”
Psalm 34:11-13 AMPC
