TODAY’S DEVOTION (MONDAY 4TH May 2026)
“Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,
by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 2 Peter 1:2-4 NKJV
WELCOME TO THE 124TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF STRATEGIC VICTORY.
The mercies of the LORD are the only reasons we see this day. The Bible says, “they are new every morning,” and “great is His faithfulness.” If those two statements were just religious Rhetorics, we will not be alive today. The Bible is not a collection of political speeches. It does not do Rhetorics.
If God’s mercies were not new every morning, there would have been no second chances with God. But because His mercies are New Every Morning, we have second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and many chances in Christ Jesus. Yes, the enemy cannot use our sins to destroy us so long as we can return to the LORD in repentance and continue the process of the renewal of the new nature in us.
God’s mercies focuses on taking away the cost of our sins and keeping the things we deserve away from our lives, so that all His intentions and visions for our lives can be accomplished, using our willingness to be intimate with Him.
If there is anything we deserve that can cause us pain, or eternal regrets in hell, God will keep it away from us so that we can grow and no longer live the life that brings such things to our destiny. If we make use of His patience and tolerance well, this noble move of God will bear fruits of righteousness in us. If we do not, you will find some of us continuing in our sins.
God’s patience and tolerance are all assets of spiritual growth and maturity for the wise.
They are assets of repentance and constant renewal of the new nature until we grow into the fulness of the stature of Christ. Yes, there is a constant renewal of the new nature in the saved that takes place each time we appear before God in Zion. God’s mercies are responsible for that.
IT IS BECAUSE OF ALL THESE THINGS WE CAN SAY, “THANK GOD HIS MERCIES ARE NEW EVERY MORNING” AND “GREAT IS HIS FAITHFULNESS.”
Talking about His faithfulness, understand that God’s faithfulness, is the reason why His presence still descend upon people or flow out through them even after they have sinned. The reason is not to say to us, “your sin is no longer a sin.” It is not to put up with our life of sin, but to put it off.
Yes, the reason is to continue the renewal of the inner man of the person, so that the person will eventually come to the place of gaining dominion over the sin that lives in us all. If we do not have dominion over the sin that lives silently in us, that can express itself at any time, we will become vulnerable to living that life that will end in hell after death, the carnal life.
God’s faithfulness is the reason for the continuity of the works of the Holy Spirit in our lives even when we do not deserve it.
It is the reason for underserved miracles, breakthroughs, peace, victories, prayer fire, progress and joy. It is the reason for getting the good you get despite the bad you do. It is a seed that He sows into our lives to bring forth a harvest of dedication to Him, and renewed inner man, or a solid divine nature that expresses itself as dominion over the sin that lives in us.
A major part of our devotional text says:
…as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,
by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 2 Peter 1:3-4 NKJV
The Phrase Divine Nature, appeared in this scripture twice. That was an intentional move of the Spirit telling us how important it is to have that nature in us. That is the nature that is created in us at Salvation and needs constant renewal.
THE GROWTH AND SUSTENANCE OF THAT NATURE IS THE REASON FOR THE RELEASE OF GOD’S PRESENCE IN OUR LIVES.
It is the reason you find believers still experiencing His presence after a one-time sin. God wants that nature solid within us so that we can have dominion over the sin that lives in us, sin no more, walk in His power, and see the things He has given us, the things that pertains to life and godliness, manifesting in our lives.
The statement, “God has given us all things that pertains to life and godliness” also means, “God has given us all spiritual and earthly resources for a spiritual and natural existence that is governed by a life that reflects His character, a life devoted to Him.”
Sadly, those who do not understand the intent of this expression of God’s mercies and faithfulness, use it wrongly. They use it to continue in a life of sin, or to continue living a life that does not reflect God’s character, thinking that God’s tolerance is a permission to continue that way, or it is an understanding of their ‘weaknesses” and a grace to keep feeding the flesh with no consequences.
But there is no feeding of the flesh that has no consequences.
Sometimes the consequences are eternal. Understand that one of the prophetic purposes of God’s mercies and Faithfulness, one of His ultimate visions for both, is the full growth of the Inner man created in us by His grace; that divine nature. He wants it to grow to the fulness of the stature of Christ.
That is the growth that will make it impossible for us to no longer be children, or spiritually immature, tossed back and forth, like ships on a stormy sea, and carried about by every wind of shifting doctrine, by the cunning and trickery of unscrupulous men, and the deceitful scheming of preachers and their followers, ready to do anything for personal profit.
The message of the WORD to us this morning is simple. Live a Christian life that focus on partaking of that divine nature.
Make use of God’s grace and mercy properly, so that that nature can become solid in you. When it becomes solid in you, you will no longer struggle with the sin that lives in you. You will begin to see the manifestations of the things that pertains to life and godliness that have been given to us by the LORD, in your life! Amen.
LET THIS SCRIPTURE BE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR THE DAY!!
“And [His gifts to the church were varied and] He Himself appointed some as apostles [special messengers, representatives], some as prophets [who speak a new message from God to the people], some as evangelists [who spread the good news of salvation], and some as pastors and teachers [to shepherd and guide and instruct],
[and He did this] to fully equip and perfect the saints (God’s people) for works of service, to build up the body of Christ [the church];
until we all reach oneness in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, [growing spiritually] to become a mature believer, reaching to the measure of the fullness of Christ [manifesting His spiritual completeness and exercising our spiritual gifts in unity].
So that we are no longer children [spiritually immature], tossed back and forth [like ships on a stormy sea] and carried about by every wind of [shifting] doctrine, by the cunning and trickery of [unscrupulous] men, by the deceitful scheming of people ready to do anything [for personal profit].” Ephesians 4:11-14 AMP
