THE CRY OF THE SPIRIT DEVOTIONALS – BY RICHARD E. S. TAKIM

TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL (WEDNESDAY 15TH July 2026)

“For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.

But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” Titus 3:3-7 NKJV

WELCOME TO THE 196TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF STRATEGIC VICTORIES!

We live in very perilous times. This is very scriptural. Perilous times refers to times of heightened demonic influence. That is the time we live in.

To sleep and wake up peacefully itself is a miracle of God’s love and power. It is therefore important that we be thankful to the LORD for all His marvelous deeds. It is important that we appreciate every day we see ourselves alive. Yes, not just physically alive but spiritually also.

We do celebrate being alive physically, but we do not celebrate being alive spiritually. Both should be celebrated with a higher priority placed on being alive spiritually, because of the eternal blessings.

All times, we forget that we should celebrate being alive spiritually.
People in Church should be the one celebrating that because Church by default should be a company of people who were dead in trespasses and are now alive in the Spirit. But I have never seen anyone in church or anywhere celebrate life in the Spirit.

I have never seen anyone celebrate being alive spiritually. But from Biblical point of view, that is what we should even celebrate more because if one is alive physically but not alive spiritually, that fellow is a living dead person.

HIS OR HER ETERNAL LIFE OR DESTINY IS DOOMED.

Such a person should be prevented from dying by all means because if they die, they will be doomed, first in hell fire and second in the lake of fire on the day of the final judgment called the great white throne judgment. Concerning that judgement, the Bible says;

“Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them.

And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.

The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.

Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:11-15 NKJV

As we can see in this scripture, if you are not alive in the Spirit of the LORD, your name does not exist in the lamb’s book of life. You will be cast into the lake of fire on the Judgment of that great day.

So, living your days with your name in the book of life should be your topmost priority, which should by default make being alive in the Spirit your topmost priority. If all that is your topmost priority, then finding a good church and having a pastor that is alive in the Spirit and has the capacity to keep you alive in the Spirit should be a deep concern.

You should never be found in empty religion with all forms of celebrations, entertainment and spiritual rituals; forms of godliness without power. You should be separated from such things.

YOU SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM CHURCHES THAT JESUS DESCRIBED AS SYNAGOGUES OF SATAN AS A PRIORITY.

You should prioritize going to church, not just to dance or see friends but to keep yourself alive in the Spirit. In other words, going to church weekly to keep yourself alive in the Spirit should be your constant pursuit. Fighting temptations to keep yourself alive in the Spirit should be a daily pursuit.

Doing all in the word of God to make sure you are alive should be a spiritual exercise to you. That is one of the secrets of the journey!!

Friend, the importance of being alive in the Spirit cannot be over emphasized. It is something that should be on the lips of all believers. To say it is very important to prioritize being alive in the Spirit, is actually an understatement. It is more than very important.

Sadly, mankind prioritize being alive physically and says or does nothing about being alive spiritually because over 80 percent of humans know nothing about that. The most celebrated scientists and professors of great Ivory Towers know nothing about that.

The most celebrated personalities on earth know nothing about that. The most influential political leaders know nothing about that. Sadly, even most preachers know nothing about that.

Telling the world about that, lies on the shoulders of the Church. But the church does not even talk about that among us. It only fights things that are happening because believers are not living life in the Spirit without realizing that.

The devil will prefer keeping the entire planet ignorant of being alive in the Spirit because he knows once we remain dead in our trespasses, he will have us in hell when we die. He wants all to be with him in hell when time is no more. He wants mankind to spend eternity with him.

“NOW, HOW DO I BECOME ALIVE IN THE SPIRIT AND WHAT ARE THE SIGNS THAT I AM ALIVE IN THE SPIRIT?” ONE MAY ASK.

You see, Life in the Spirit begins with a genuine encounter with Jesus Christ, an encounter that creates a washing of regeneration or renewing of the Spirit. Then it continues with a constant infilling of the Holy Spirit. When that happens, you find yourself living a life different from the sinful life you once lived. That new life is a major sign that you are now alive in the spirit.

Our devotional text says;

The word of God teaches that if we are no longer foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lust and sinful pleasure, if we are no longer living in malice, or envy, if you are no longer hateful, morally corrupt or ungodly, we are alive in the Spirit.

It teaches that if we can put to death fornication, uncleanness like smoking, drinking, partying, etc., if you can put to death ungodly passions, evil or sinful desires, covetousness and the likes of it, we are alive in the Spirit. Only people who are alive in the Spirit can do that. Those who are not cannot do that. They will fail each time they try.

That is why you must first come alive in the Spirit before you can live a holy and pure life. You must first come alive to be able to put to death all sinful and ungodly forms of life. The Bible is clear that if we do not put those things to death, if we keep living in them, God’s wrath will fall upon us one day.

Yes, it will fall upon us either in this life or the life to come. Do not let anyone deceive you about that. Let God be true and all men liars. That is the word of the LORD to us today!!

MAKE THIS SCRIPTURE A MEDITATION FOR THE DAY

“Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.” Colossians 3:5-7 NKJV
