TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL (MONDAY 20TH JULY 2026)
“I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man.
But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?
I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.” Romans 7:21-24 NKJV
WELCOME TO THE 201ST DAY OF OUR YEAR OF STRATEGIC VICTORIES!
We give God the glory for bringing us to the first workday of the week. I believe some of us are already at work this morning. The devotional came late because of obvious reasons. However, we will not cease from being grateful to God for His kindness.
Yesterday’s service was a major transition for many of us. God gave us clear cut path into a new phase of life where we can fully express His anointing for our lives. The revelation on THE SEVEN EXPRESSIONS OF THE ANOINTING was one of the best messages ever preached in the ministry.
Yes, every message has been best, and this was one of the best. Get it for yourself; it is the 6th of the Dynamics of Success series.
One of the major things that sound doctrines does to a believer is preparation and equipping. We were thoroughly equipped. Failure is no longer something that can happen to anyone who will work in the light of the word that was taught because there can be no failure where the anointing is flowing.
The anointed of the LORD do not fail except they corrupt the anointing. Even after corrupting the anointing, when they bend their prayer knees to the LORD and cry unto Him, they would always experience a restoration because the LORD loves His children and will not allow their cry for mercy go unanswered.
This morning we want to look at one major truth that every child of GOD who is working out their salvation with fear and trembling need to know. Unfortunately, few believers are doing so. Majority are busy making the meeting of their earthly needs the focus of their faith.
YOU WON’T BLAME THEM BECAUSE MOST INFLUENTIAL PREACHERS PRESENT A NEED BASED GOSPEL TO THE WORLD NOT THE DOCTRINE OF CHRIST.
They preach beautiful messages that seems to be answers to prayers, but they only answer the prayers of carnal Christians who fix their hearts on earthly things, not believers in Christ whose thoughts are filled with heaven; men and women who do not spend their time worrying about things down here, on earth, people with little desire for this world. The Bible says;
“Since you became alive again, so to speak, when Christ arose from the dead, now set your sights on the rich treasures and joys of heaven where he sits beside God in the place of honor and power. Let heaven fill your thoughts; don’t spend your time worrying about things down here.
You should have as little desire for this world as a dead person does. Your real life is in heaven with Christ and God. And when Christ who is our real life comes back again, you will shine with him and share in all his glories.” Colossians 3:1-4 TLB
It is important that you read this scripture repeatedly until you experience something. The truth is, if you are a Christian that is Heaven bond, with thoughts on your real life, Christ and God, not money, fame or your enemies; one who strives daily for Heaven, with little or no desire for this world as a dead person does, you are the one that will be raptured when Jesus comes.
No carnal Christian will be raptured. That is one thing you find in this scripture!!
One of the major battles of a man or woman who fits the definition of the Colossians 3:1-4 Christian, one who has been enlightened about the next life and the actual condition for escaping eternal judgment is the battle with the flesh, or the sin in us, especially as reflected in our devotional text. The text says:
“I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man.
But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?
I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.” Romans 7:21-24 NKJV
THE WILL TO SAY NO TO UNGODLY PLEASURE
Our devotional text is about a believer’s battle with the sin that lives in us (even when one is not living in it), and the frustration of using the law to overcome the battle of its influence over one’s walk with the LORD. Sadly, this is one scripture that has not been properly taught.
Consequently, we have believers who live very sinful and ungodly lives, especially concerning sexual sins, and still call themselves Christians. Most of us are yet to renounce the hidden works of the flesh, thereby twisting this scripture to our advantage.
We confess that when we sin there is no problem because with our minds, we serve God but, with our flesh the law of sin, and that it is normal since it’s not our bodies that will go to Heaven but our souls. However, from the eternal point of view, this twist is at our disadvantage. It is a deception of sin. It is at our disadvantage because Romans chapter 8 says so.
Many do not go on to read chapter 8 of the same book of Romans that completely spelt out the eternal destiny of such Christians, which is eternal condemnation of hell. Romans 7 has served as a wake-up call to the spiritual diseases of sin within, and the need to meet the LORD for a cure for Generations.
If Heaven has filled your thoughts, if you are not spending your time worrying about things down here, and if you have little desire for this world like a dead person does, you will seek to meet The LORD on the prayer knee with a bible in your hands seeking for victory over the sin that lives within while on this side of eternity.
If you meet Him, one of the major things He will do is to grace your will to be able to say no to the desires of the sin within. With a reenforced will, we will feel it but will have the strength to say no to it. Yes, the sin within will move us, and we will be tempted to sin, but we will be able to see the way of escape GOD has made for us not to go that direction.
YOU KNOW JOSEPH COULD SAY NO TO POTIPHAR’S WIFE, BUT SAMSON COULD NOT SAY NO TO DELILAH.
The difference was in their will. One had a will that was strong enough to resist sin, the other did not. Many people in church today have lost the will and grace to resist sin due to spiritual malnutrition.
They and their pastors now explain the spiritual tragedy away, by preaching sermons and manufacturing doctrines that help them see no evil in whatever they may be doing, like what we just addressed in this devotional.
The Bible strongly admonishes that we build a strong resistance against the law of sin that lives within us. But that is not possible where one is not fed with rich spiritual food and there is no regular encounter with the person of Jesus.
When you, therefore, see yourself always falling into sin, change your spiritual fountain, and seek regular encounters with Jesus the way the early church did. Not having power over the law of sin within is a sign that we are not properly fed or we do not have regular encounters with Jesus in our prayer closets.
People who spend time with the LORD always, will receive a daily strength from Him to tame the law of the sin and death that is working in our flesh. His holy Spirit will so transform them that they will become dead to that law, as in put it completely out of service.
But this is not easy!!! It is a fight of faith that one must be intentional about. That is the message of today!!
MAKE THIS SCRIPTURAL VERSE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR THE DAY;
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. Acts 4:13 AKJV
