TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL (THURDAY 13th August 2026)
This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him,
And delivers them.Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing. Psalm 34:6-10 NKJV
WELCOME TO THE 225TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF STRATEGIC VICTORIES!
This is the day the LORD has made, we shall rejoice and be glad in it. We are alive because He gave us life. He has watched over us like the apples of His eyes, fought for us like a mighty terrible one, stood with us when none was there for us.
To this amazing God be the glory!! Amen and amen.
Indeed, the Spirit of the LORD has made us, and the breath of the Almighty gives us life. It is the life God gives a man that he lives, not another. If He did not give you life to see today, you will not be alive today. He is the source of the life we live and the source of the air we breathe in.
Today, we will be looking at few Biblical thoughts in God’s goodness. I hope we are ready.
To start with, let me ask, Has God ever saved you from trouble? That was His goodness on display. Has God ever healed you of a disease? That was His goodness on display. Has God ever granted you a miracle? That was His goodness on display! Has God ever allowed you to sleep and wake up saved and sound in a dangerous zone? That was His goodness on display.
One of the verses of our devotional text says:
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Psalm 34:8 NKJV
The greatest thing to taste in life is not in the kitchen of any chef, nor is it in any caterer’s home. The greatest thing to taste in life is not in any high-end eatery or premium restaurants of this world. The greatest thing to taste in life is God’s goodness. It is the taste of God’s goodness that saves us from the sword of our enemies.
IT IS THE TASTE OF GOD’S GOODNESS THAT CHANGES OUR LIVES AND TAKES US FROM WHERE WE MAY BE, TO ENVIABLE HEIGHTS OF LIFE.
It is the taste of God’s goodness that heals a man of his diseases of illness. It is the taste of God’s goodness that re writes the story of a sinner, empowers the life of the righteous to survive the consequences of living right in a sin age, and keeps one strong despite the odds he or she may be facing.
It is the taste of God’s goodness that makes sure one have a table of divine provision and beautiful success in the presence of their enemies. It is the taste of God’s goodness that take us from the paths of destruction to the paths of blessings. You may have tasted the best meals or cakes on earth, but until you have a taste of God’s goodness, your life will remain the same.
To terminate ancient captivities, you will need a taste of God’s goodness. To break curses and walk free from spiritual oppression, you will need a taste of God’s goodness. To get and stay happily married, you will need a taste of God’s goodness. To make sure that no weapon formed against you prospers, you will need a taste of God’s goodness.
It is the taste of God’s goodness that took David from the backside of the desert to become king over Isreal. It is the taste of God’s goodness that will change everything about you, not just your skill, strength, diligence, education or sacrifices in life.
The taste of God’s goodness did not allow the Philistines have the last laugh over Samson, even after using his time of vulnerability to reduced him to a blind man, grinding the mills of his enemies. The Bible says Samson’s hairs grew again, and he killed more in His death than what he ever killed while alive. In other words, in His most vulnerably moments, in his dying day, he did much more than he did when he was strong and alive.
THAT WAS A TASTE OF GOD’S GOODNESS.
The goodness of the LORD will not allow the LORD to deal with us according to our sins but according to His kindness. The taste of the goodness of the LORD will destroy our thirst for sin, iniquity and trespass. It will not just destroy our thirst or desire for them, delivering us from its slavery, it will also destroy the consequences of the sins, iniquity or trespasses.
Yesterday we shared some truths about consequences, and how dire they can be. God’s goodness is the greatest terminator of serious consequences or outcomes of bad life decisions or actions. Yes, it destroys and terminates all kinds of consequences. It is a negative consequence destroyer and a new life giver.
It will act on a man’s mistakes and turn them into miracles, then further take the miracles and turn them into a mantle. In the school of God’s goodness, all things work together for good, that is why you must always bow the prayer knee asking God for mercies. You must learn to bow the prayer knee and seek to have a taste of God’s goodness on daily bases. Another part of our devotional text says:
“Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.” Psalm 34:9-10 NKJV
Yes, those who will bow their prayer knees and seek the LORD for the manifestation of His goodness in their lives, shall not lack any needed act of God’s goodness; they shall not lack any good thing.
As we bring this to a close, understand that if God’s goodness is not in your life, your sins will sink you, and your ignorance will destroy you without remedy. If you lead a life that does not taste God’s goodness, it will be ugly down here. Yes, it will be dark, terrible, and sorrowful to live on an earth like ours without tasting the goodness of the LORD on daily bases.
The Bible says, “I know that you are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked.” (1 John 5:19) Yes, the entire world system that we touch, or experience daily is under the sway of the wicked. If you are not sandwiched by God’s goodness, you will have no life to live.
The goodness of the LORD is the eternal fuel that should run our lives. It is the eternal fuel that runs the lives of the righteous in ancient times. It is the same spiritual treasure that our lives needs today to thrive. If you take the goodness of the LORD away from your life, you will have no life to live.

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord.” Psalm 23:4-6 NKJV
