TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL (Sunday 16th May 2021)
“Say to God, “How awesome are your works! Through the greatness of your power your enemies shall submit themselves to you. All the earth shall worship you and sing praises to you; they shall sing praises to your name.” Psalms 66:3-4 NKJV
WELCOME TO THE 136TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF HIGHER HEIGHTS!
We thank God for giving us life, peace, and health. We thank Him for giving us another day and showing us mercies to be counted among the living. He remains our portion in the land of the living.
He is the light of our lives and refuge of our souls. He created us for His pleasure. We exist just for that. We did not make ourselves, He made it. That is why are confident that he will continue to keep us even in trouble times.
This morning we want to look at matters of supernatural power.
The God who created us is omnipotent; meaning He is always powerful. He does not diminish in power. When He speak, His words do not fall to the ground because they do not have capacity to fail. That tells us something about our eternal lineage.
Our eternal lineage is supernatural in nature; full of power. We are not called to expect less. That is why this morning we will be looking at how our intimacy with God can help us walking in God’s power in a trouble world.
The greatest curse on the human race is a life without the supernatural power of God. There is financial power, political power, will power, success power, and all other kinds of secondary powers, but there is no power of God.
When God created man and placed him in the Garden of Eden, He did not give him political power to survive. He gave man HIS own Supernatural power called “dominion” to survive.
GOD’S SUPERNATURAL POWER WAS MAN’S INSTRUMENT OF SURVIVAL ON EARTH.
That was what Adam used to subdue every other created thing on the face of the earth as God had commanded. That was his instrument of not just survival but ruler ship as God’s regent on earth. All animals and created things obeyed him because he spoke in power.
Without that power he would not have been able to name the animals.
But after the fall, he lost everything. Life became chaotic because mankind was unplugged from his God given supernatural power. God’s Power is therefore the most essential blessing for living on the face of the earth.
Without the power of God in your life, curses will rest on you, thrive in your destiny or feed on your life. Without the power of God in your life, sicknesses and diseases will hold sway in your life.
Without the power of God in your life devils will turn your kids, business, ministry or whatever carries your name into a playground of afflictions.
The greatest hindrance to the success of many on the face of the earth is an absence of God’s supernatural power in their lives! A major highlight in our devotional text today said,
“How awesome are your works! Through the greatness of your power your enemies shall submit themselves to you.”
Enemies do not submit through the greatness of our boasting, anger, hatred, or ill feelings against them. That is why Jesus said love your enemies. Pray for those who hate and despitefully use you. Enemies submit through the greatness of the power of God in our lives.
Friend, if you catch the revelation of what God is saying this morning, you will choose to die than to live a Christian life without the greatness of God’s power flowing through you.
I have seen and heard some Christians sing “I’m walking in power, I’m walking in miracle, I live a life of favor, I know who I am.” But if you look at their lives with the eyes of the Holy Spirit, you will begin to question which power they are really walking in.
IS IT SEXUAL POWER, POLITICAL POWER, SIN POWER, OR THE POWER OF THE FLESH?
Is it financial power they are singing about because I can’t see the greatness of God’s supernatural power in their lives? I can’t see their lives flaming with the Power of God’s consuming glory and their enemies submitting to them.
You do not see the enemy submitting to them, rather the enemy rule over them.
We can’t cast out a demon, heal the sick, raise the dead as Jesus had commanded or get people filled with the Holy Ghost. Yet we sing we are walking in power. We may be walking in power as we sing but obviously it is not God’s power we are walking in. It is other powers!
Most Christians who sing that song are really walking in sexual power.
They live in all kinds of sexual sins and use it to get economic freedom then comes out to sing, “I’m walking in power…” God does not want this trend to continue that is why He is calling us to a life of real power that come through righteousness.
The channel through which the power that your enemies will submit to will flow to us is holy living because the source is the glory of God. The Bible described that channel as “the womb of His Holiness.” The word womb means spirit. In another word, the power will begin to flow through us when our spirits become pure and holy.
That is why people who truly walk in God’s power also walk in God’s Holiness.
People like Elisha in the Old Testament were very powerful prophets and very Holy men of God all at the same time. The early apostles where men of power who did marvelous things in the name of Jesus; they were also Holy apostles of Jesus Christ – not like the sinful ones we have today.
It may interest you to know that, the glory of GOD which is the source of GOD’s power is also where His Holiness flows from. You cannot therefore be powerful and sinful at the same time. It is not possible. If you see a man or woman of God who is both sinful and powerful, you have seen someone walking in the power of the evil one.
GOD’S POWER FLOWS THROUGH HOLY LIVING NOT SINFUL LIVING
Even the life of Samson tells us that. As soon as he touched Delilah and got desecrated, the Spirit left him. You also see that in the life of the Sons of Eli. As soon as the developed the habit of sleeping with the women that came to worship GOD and desecrating the offerings of the LORD, the glory departed. The power of GOD left the camp.
GOD will never flow through a scandalous ministry. He will wait until they repent. He said to Eli
“Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
Behold, the days come, that I will cut off thine arm, and the arm of thy father’s house, that there shall not be an old man in thine house.” 1 Samuel 2:30-31 KJV
When a preacher begins to dishonor GOD by desecrated himself or herself with sexual sins, bitterness, hate, forgiveness, wickedness, or the abuse of the offerings of GOD’s people, GOD will no longer honor him or her with His glory. He will withdraw from that preacher, living him without power.
That is the way things work in GOD’s kingdom!
Any supernatural power you see flowing through a preacher despite a life of persistent scandals is not from GOD. It is from the evil one. It is coming from the spirit of lawlessness, a child of the mystery of iniquity. Do not thing GOD is still with such a person.
There is something Jesus said to the disciples that is important that we bring to our attention. He said to them when they returned with stories of the exploits they did in His name;
“Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.” Luke 19:20 NKJV
DEVILS CAN BE SUBJECTED TO YOU WITHOUT YOUR NAME EVEN WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE.
And that can happen when the power you are walking in is not from the glory of GOD through the womb of God’s Holiness – the place where God’s true power flows through. To get to the place where God’s power flows through, you must be deep with the true God; not devils that supply supernatural power.
In simple terms, you must embrace the revelation of deep intimacy with God. Deep intimacy with GOD is the only key that turns His power on in our lives.
In the book of acts tells us that when the apostles gave themselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word, they walked in the greatness of God’s power. They turned their world upside down and devils screamed wherever they went.
But today, the reverse is the case.
We drink Oil, use salt, light up candles, use mats and prayer cloths to pray, and do all the sorcery things ignorant and perverted ministers of the gospel invented, yet do not walk in the power they walked in. At best some demonic manifestation will show up and we will call it God!
There is a clarion call from the Throne Room of God to us here on earth; a clarion call to become deeply committed to GOD. Only those who are deep with Jesus Christ will be strengthened with the power that comes from God’s glory and do exploits.
If you will therefore, give yourself entirely to prayers and to the ministry of the word as the early church did, you will truly walk in the greatness of God’s power and see your enemies submit themselves to you.
