THE CRY OF THE SPIRIT DEVOTIONALS – BY RICHARD E. S. TAKIMj

TODAY’S DEVOTION (THURSDAY 2ND April 2026)

“Come, behold the works of the Lord, who has made desolations in the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire.” Psalms 46:8-9 NKJV

WELCOME TO THE 91ST DAY OF OUR YEAR OF STRATEGIC VICTORY

Today we will be looking at the fear of the LORD.

The Bible teaches that, as the enemy increases his activities, and as we get to the end of the sin age in human history, one of the things that will be near extinct among humans will be the fear of the LORD. People will fear God but not the LORD Jesus Christ, and that is dangerous because the LORD Jesus is the door to the true God.

The New Testament makes it clear that when the fear of the LORD is lost, the essence of the Christian faith is eliminated. Both the Old and the New Testaments teach that Heaven will be home for people who walked in the fear of the LORD on earth, and hell will be home of those who did not.

Everyone in one form of religion or the other fears God or gods, but only TRUE believers in Christ fear the LORD. The Bible says the whole duty of a man is to fear the LORD God and depart from evil. That is our calling as humans. People who fear the LORD departs from evil, those who do not, see no evil in the evil deeds they commit.

A lot of people do not have genuine fear for God that is why the blessings of the fear of the LORD are missing in the lives of many.

The blessings of the fear of the LORD like healing, permanent deliverance, enduring peace, life progress, breakthroughs when one is in need, divine interventions and the like, comes easily without going to mountains to pray or giving some sacrifices if we fear the LORD. God does not withhold any good thing from those who walk uprightly, and the fear of the LORD God makes someone to walk uprightly.

One other blessing the fear of the LORD put on us is the protective covering of a special anointing. Yes, the fear of the LORD exhumes an anointing from the throne of God to the life of a man. That anointing is NOT like the general anointing everyone knows. It is rather the most lethal anointing in the Kingdom of God.

IT ONLY RESTS ON THOSE WHO WALK IN THE FEAR OF THE LORD.

Joseph was promoted by that anointing in a foreign land. It gave him dominion over the gods of Egypt. Its lethality speaks in the dominion over all evil that it confers upon us.

The anointing is not something you put in a bottle or a rams’ horn. It is not something that can be held in a preacher’s hand. It is something that flows from the Throne of the LORD to the life of the person who fears the LORD. That is why you find people who walk in the fear of the LORD also unleashing the supernatural that further establishes the fear of the LORD in unusual ways.

These people flow in the anointing and cannot be found in spiritual need. They are self-sufficient through the supply they receive from the LORD, and do not run after anyone to tap into their grace. They have sufficient oil for the journey of life.

God wants us all of us in HIS Church to be part of this kind of people because it allows a consistent flow of His special oil or anointing to be possible in our lives and keep His kingdom advancing.

You see, Jesus is our pattern. He walked in the fear of the LORD as man, when he was physically on earth. The Bible says the spirit of the fear of the LORD will rest upon Him, to show us how our lives will look if the same Spirit rest on us, and it did. He also walked in the special anointing that the fear of the LORD confers on those who walk in it. The Bible calls it the Spirit without measure.

He was mighty in words and deeds because this special anointing rested on Him. He did and said so many things that the frailty of humanity of those who saw it could not allow them to capture and store up for us to read. But He said the works that He did, we can do also, and greater works can we do. However, this is not possible without walking the way He walked.

YOU WILL NEVER DO WHAT JESUS WANTS YOU TO DO IF YOU DO NOT WALK THE WAY HE WANTS YOU TO WALK.

Many have been wondering why we are not doing what Jesus said we will do, despite being His body on earth. The reason is because we are not walking the way He walked, neither are we living the way He lived. Jesus’ walk and talk with God must be found in our lives if we want to do His works.

His works were a product of His walk, and His walk was in the fear of the LORD not the desire for riches or anything. If our walk with Him, becomes like His walk with God when He was physically here, we will begin to see ourselves doing the works He did, and even greater works than He did because He is currently with the Father.

There are more things we will see happening in our lives if we walk in the fear of the LORD. We will see the promises the LORD spoke to us come to pass. Our enemies will not be able to outwit us in battle, or the sons of wickedness afflict us. Things that seems impossible will become possible, and the works of the LORD that we are yet to behold, or experience will become a regular experience in our lives.

Our devotional text says:
“Come, behold the works of the Lord, who has made desolations in the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire.” Psalms 46:8-9 NKJV

This scripture is a vivid picture of what we will see God do, among other amazing things, if we begin to walk in the fear of the LORD. We will see His works, and experience massive outbreaks of His Kingdom, power and glory, making wars to cease, breaking the bow, and cutting the spear asunder. He will destroy the chariot of the evil ones and enthrone us in their place to influence the earth back to Him.

Child of God, if there is something prayer, fasting or giving to the LORD faithfully has not changed, the fear of the LORD will change it. The fear of the LORD is what gives us the things that other acts of worship may have failed to give us. God will always request you to add His fear to your worship for your worship to make any meaningful thing happen in your life.

Finally, understand that the ultimate blessing of the fear of the LORD is eternal in nature. It is called eternal rest with Christ in the afterlife.

Personally, I desire to walk in the fear of the LORD because I know Heaven is not a home for preachers, but a home of those who walked this life in the fear of the LORD. I know preaching the gospel does not qualify any for Heaven, walking in the fear of the LORD is what qualifies.

So, even as I preach, teach and pray in the name of the LORD I try to walk in the fear of the LORD using His grace upon my life. Let’s all be like minded. Amen

MAKE THIS SCRIPTURE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR THE DAY

“Do not let your heart envy sinners, But be zealous for the fear of the Lord all the day; For surely there is a hereafter, and your hope will not be cut off.” Proverbs 23:17-18 NKJV
