TODAY’S DEVOTION (Tuesday 29th April 2025)
“The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath. So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Psalms 90:10-12 KJV
WELCOME TO THE 119TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY
It is another day from the LORD, and we give Him praise. He has kept us, fed us, carried us through and through, and watched over us each day.
Glory be to this God, who does us good, lives in eternity and gave us time to live our days in, applying our hearts unto wisdom. One of the wisdoms to live our days applying our hearts to is the wisdom of aligning with God’s prophetic declaration for our lives and for the times and seasons He has preplanned for us.
God speaks before He moves. He will do nothing except reveal it to His servants the prophets. That is why we must align with what He is saying or declaring or what He has said or declared.
One major grace He has put in His body to help us do that is the prophetic anointing. I consider it very important to the life of a Christian because it helps us to know what God is about doing and to position for it. In other words, it unveils God’s prophetic word to us and points out ways of positioning for its fulfillment.
It is important to note that when God speaks, you discover what He is about doing, and most times what He says comes with the wisdom of how to conduct ourselves to see the word come to pass in our lives.
What He says comes with the wisdom to apply our hearts to for it to be fulfilled in our lives.
Without applying our hearts to the wisdom that comes with what the LORD may have said, prophecies spoken over our lives will fail.
You see that in the lives of the tribe of Levi. God used Moses to make them His priest over Israel and made consecration and Holiness the wisdom to apply their hearts unto from generation to generation in order to see His word come to pass in their lives.
But a generation arose that did not apply their hearts unto that wisdom – the generation of the Sons of Eli. It killed the prophecy.
GOD WOULD LATER SEND A PROPHET TO TELL THEM THIS:
“Therefore, the Lord God of Israel says: ‘I said indeed that your house and the house of your father would walk before Me forever.’
But now the Lord says: ‘Far be it from Me; for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.” 1 Samuel 2:30 NKJV
God changed His mind because they discontinued the application of the wisdom that led to the manifestation of His promise in their lineage from generation to generation in their own generation; the wisdom of bodily consecration, sexual purity and handling the offerings of the LORD properly.
The Bible says:
“Now the sons of Eli were corrupt; they did not know the Lord.
Therefore, the sin of the young men was very great before the Lord, for men abhorred the offering of the Lord. 1 Samuel 2:12, 17 NKJV
Now Eli was very old; and he heard everything his sons did to all Israel, and how they lay with the women who assembled at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. 1 Samuel 2:22 NKJV
In these scriptures, you find those who should be the custodians of holiness, purity, divine order, and the honor that is due to the LORD, moving from temple consecration to temple prostitution. They established temple prostitution in Isreal.
Something that was created by ritual sex in the temples of false gods, was now found in the temple of GOD. That was one of the major things that killed the prophecy!! The scriptures detailed all they did in their days, so that we will not repeat them in our days.
Sadly, we are not only repeating them. We have invented more abominations in our days, killing major prophecies God spoke for our days and time; especially the prophecy of a generation that will not see death.
The things stated in the scripture above were the things the Sons of Eli did that made the word of the LORD fail in their generation. Other generations saw the word come to pass because they stood firmly in righteousness, divine order, and alignment with God’s laws for their lives.
ARE THERE PROPHECIES THAT HAVE FAILED IN OUR GENERATION BECAUSE OF THE WAY WE ARE LIVING TODAY?
Yes, there are. The prophecies of our redemption have failed in the lives of so many because our generation is corrupt like the sons of Eli; most of us in church are corrupt, sexually perverse, and have no intimate knowledge of the LORD.
You cannot be any of that without seeing the word of the LORD failing in your generation; what happened in Bible days seems not to be happening in our days. The divine protection from demons that made sure there was no deliverance services in the early church is missing in our days.
The divine presence that made sure men and women like Bro. and Sis. Ananias and Saphira received instant judgment for what they did is missing in our days. People lie in Church and do other terrible things in the name of the LORD and go free, without facing instant correctional judgment.
While God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance, the judgements of the LORD that were supposed to be on the earth for men to learn righteousness seems missing in our days. The things that happened in generations that had men and women who kept the standards of the LORD, are missing in our days.
Obviously, there is something they did that we are not doing, that is why we do not have the kind of moves of God they had in their days. This is a challenge for all of us to wake up and find the old paths to walk in.
This is a call to all who love the LORD, to add living for the LORD to their love for the LORD.
MANY OF US THAT LOVE THE LORD ARE NOT TRULY LIVING FOR THE LORD WE LOUDLY PROFESS TO LOVE.
Loving the LORD without living for the LORD shows that our so-called love for the LORD is not genuine, because the only sign that one loves the LORD is living for the LORD. Jesus Himself asked:
“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like:
He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.
But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.” Luke 6:46-49 NKJV
The house of Eli and sons fell under the judgment of God that day because their lives had no spiritual foundation to stand the times and season, they found themselves. They called Him LORD but never did what He said to them.
The Bible says God would later replace the priesthood with the office of the prophet because of what they did; Samuel replaced them.
If our lives lack or loose the foundation Jesus said should be in it, we will be replaced as well; we will experience similar falls and watch God’s word for our time fail.
Friend, the greatest plague in our version of Christianity today is a Christian faith that profess to either know or love the LORD but by our deeds we surpass the deeds of the wicked. The time to change that is now!!
As we bring this to a close, it is important to note that there are prophecies of our generation that have failed and will keep failing because we are not living the life that should bring them to pass.
If we do not keep the consecration that our Bible fathers kept, we will not see the manifestation of the moves of GOD they saw. God is not a respecter of persons, but a respecter of principles.
The life of the sons of Eli teaches us how important it is to apply our hearts unto the wisdom of what we must keep doing for His word to come to pass or keep manifesting in our lives.
When God speak to us about a thing He is about doing in our lives, we must study what He said for the purpose of discovering how we are to keep living for that word to come to pass and keep coming to pass from time to time.
Application of a man’s heart unto this wisdom remains a condition to the fulfillment of God’s promises in his life.
MAKE THIS SCRIPTURE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR THE DAY
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalms 23:1-4 NKJV
