THE CRY OF THE SPIRIT DEVOTIONALS – BY RICHARD E. S. TAKIM

TODAY’S DEVOTION (WEDNESDAY 22ND October 2025)

“But if the manslayer at any time goes outside the limits of the city of refuge where he fled, and the avenger of blood finds him outside the limits of his city of refuge, and the avenger of blood kills the manslayer, he shall not be guilty of blood,

because he should have remained in his city of refuge until the death of the high priest. But after the death of the high priest the manslayer may return to the land of his possession. Numbers 35:26-28 NKJV

WELCOME TO THE 295TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY

Today is another good day from the LORD, the only God that is called in the Holy Scriptures “the Father of spirits,” not evil spirits.
This God has kept us for 295 days, and we owe Him a big gratitude.

Day unto day He renew our cells while we are asleep. He has never gotten angry and decided to cause the Sun not to give light to the earth. With all mankind does to Him, we have always woken up to see His Sun rising and setting, His oxygen entering our lungs and keeping us alive. That is why the Bible said, “This God is Love.”

It did not just say “God loves.” Of course He loves, but it says God is love. Meaning love is what He is. That is why we are still here. LOVE is His nature. It is His characteristics and Spirit Nature. That is why He is slow to anger.

Yes, God is slow to anger and abound in mercy. Sometimes, we do a thing and take it that He is angry at us, but He is not. He is slow to anger. Man is the one that is fast to anger. It is when we place Him within our standards that we treat Him as fast to anger.

God is slow to anger, so when we do bad things, He does not move to destroy us, it is the bad things that we do that destroys us. The Bible says sin is a killer! It kills peace, joy, prosperity and all that makes life exciting if we continue living in it. It brings death and destruction to the life of the sinner. It destroys those who live in it.

Many times, if our sins and bad decisions are destroying us, we take it to be God angry with us and punishing us for the sins. That is lying on Him. It tantamount to placing God within our justice system. Which is why many do not come out of the problems. If we place God within our justice system, we will destroy ourselves.

It is like the prodigal son who left the father’s house and ended up paying the price by eating with pigs far away in the foreign land he chose to go stay. It was not the father punishing him, by commanding him to eat with the pigs. The good thing is, he knew, hence not blaming his father for anything, but himself. That was when he got an idea of what to do.

THAT IDEA CHANGED HIS LIFE AND RESTORED HIM BACK TO THE FATHER.

If He had taken it that the father (GOD) was angry with him, hence his sufferings like any of us do; if he had thought that all his suffering was a punishment from GOD, he would have died in a foreign land. But he knew his sin was what was punishing him, and that in the father’s house, there is mercy, healing and restoration.

If we know how loving Our Heavenly father is, everyone who has strayed away will return home. We will return home in repentance whenever we sin. We will not stay away from His presence suffering from the consequences of our sins and taking it as a punishment from Him.

Indeed, GOD is love. Let no one confuse us about that. He does not deal with us according to our sins, but according to His mercy towards us. It is what we will do with His mercies that determines what happens in our lives, especially after we have sinned. That is why He look forward to our repentance whenever we sin, not our destruction.

It is when we do not repent that we perish in the consequences of our sin. It is the consequences that hit us first, not His anger. He is slow at emitting His anger on a sinner. That is why wicked men and women live long, and ignorant people take Him for granted.

They take Him for granted, continue in their sins, and end up getting destroyed by their sins. If you look at our devotional text today, you will see how God cares for even the most terrible offender. He established Cities of refuge in the days of the Bible to reveal to us how He cares for even the vilest offender.

FOR US TODAY, THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST CONSTITUTES OUR CITY OF REFUGE.

That means, whenever I offend, I have the blood of Jesus Christ as a constituent of my city of refuge to run to. But if I stay out in rebellion like Cain, and other Bible characters, a time is going to come when the manslayer, or my sins will catch up with me and destroy me.

You see, God is not willing that anyone should perish but that all of us should come to repentance. I reiterate again that when we sin against Him, He does not look out for our destruction, He looks out for our repentance and dominion over the practice of that sin.

Do not misunderstand this Bible truth and slip into lawlessness. God is always tough on sin, but gentle on the sinner. Any sinner who refuses to deal with sin, has decided that his sin should deal with him. The repentant terminates what their sin would have done to them if they repent and seek the LORD for mercy and restoration.

God’s word is full of calls to repentance because He is not willing that our sin destroy us. He pleaded through Ezekiel and said, “I have no delight in the death of a sinner…repent so that iniquity will not be your ruin.” He demonstrated His love and care towards sinners by establishing the cities of refuge.

He set those Cities of refuge in the days of the Bible as a shadow of not just what the blood of Jesus ought to be, but what Church ministry ought to be.

Sadly, many have abused God’s grace and mercy and turned the Church into a place where active and terrible sinners find refuge instead repentance. God is presented by many as an accommodating for sin God, instead of one who purges it and hates it. What do you think you are doing, if you ordain a gay, lesbian or any lost sinner into priestly duties? You are presenting the wrong God to a dying world.

Yes, the clergy has presented the wrong God to a dying world, that is why hell is enlarging itself daily, and sin multiplying. Many fiery sermons in the charismatic Pentecostal circles have no lethality to deal with a life of sin. Very few preachers today has messages with the lethality to deal with sin.

IN FACT, THOSE WITH SUCH FIRE ARE PREVENTED FROM TAKING IT TO THOSE WHO TRULY NEED IT.

I was shocked when I was told that those, they call the fathers of the land in Kenya conspired and said we should not be allowed to speak to the high school students who are presently facing an invasion of darkness, where many are turning into gays and lesbians.

There is a deliberate attempt by some preachers to help hell get more souls to it. Maybe they are doing it ignorantly. But we must bring everyone who wants freedom from sin to God’s city of refuge where they can find repentance, purging, renewal and reconstruction to led holy and righteous lives.

God demonstrated this when He Instructed Moses to set aside 42 Cities for the Levites and six additional ones allocated to the Levites to serve as Cities of refuge, to fulfill His vision of not destroying the sinner but saving the sinner. The Bible says,

“Now among the cities which you will give to the Levites you shall appoint six cities of refuge, to which a manslayer may flee. And to these you shall add forty-two cities.” Numbers 35:6 NKJV

In Bible days, these cities of refuge were meant for people who have committed one crime or the other. God who is full of mercy does not want even the worst Criminal to die for his sins. That is why He persuades men to repent. A major Highlight of our devotional text says,

“But if the manslayer at any time goes outside the limits of the city of refuge where he fled, and the avenger of blood finds him outside the limits of his city of refuge, and the avenger of blood kills the manslayer, he shall not be guilty of blood,

The spiritual significance of this is huge. But that is for another day.

I believe the message of the LORD for today has been passed. It is my prayer that you will follow what the LORD has transmitted into your spirit through this word in Jesus precious name. Amen!!!

LET THIS SCRIPTURE BE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR YOU TODAY:

Therefore, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit.

For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has freed me from the law of sin and of death. Romans 8:1-2 AMPC
