TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL (TUESDAY 19th May 2026)
“Then the children of Israel moved, and camped in the plains of Moab on the side of the Jordan across from Jericho. Now Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites.
And Moab was exceedingly afraid of the people because they were many, and Moab was sick with dread because of the children of Israel.” Numbers 22:1-3
WELCOME TO THE 139TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF STRATEGIC VICTORIES!
This is the day the LORD has made, we shall rejoice and be glad in it. Day unto day He has been faithful and kind. It is out of His mercies that we are not consumed for His compassion fails not. If the LORD should mark iniquity, who shall stand. But there is forgiveness from Him so that He might be feared.
The reason God shows mercy is that He might be feared. In other words, God shows mercy to promote His fear on earth. But when mercy is shown and His fear is still diminishing, there will be correctional judgments. That is when what the Bible says in the book of Isaiah will be applied.
The word says:
“With my soul I have desired You in the night, Yes, by my spirit within me I will seek You early; For when Your judgments are in the earth, The inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.
“Let grace be shown to the wicked, Yet he will not learn righteousness;
In the land of uprightness he will deal unjustly, And will not behold the majesty of the Lord.” Isaiah 26:10 NKJV
This scripture shows that God will not continue to show grace when we refuse to allow grace to teach us righteousness. It made it clear that judgment will break out to teach out righteousness if we resist the power of His grace and refuse to yield to it to teach us the same.
If God’s grace is not allowed to fulfill its vision in our lives, the vision of teaching us righteousness, or eliminating the practice of sin, the Bible made it clear that judgment will break out in one way or the other.
The term judgment means consequences. For us in the New Testament, sin consequences has been taken over by Jesus on His cross, they only fall on us, like they did on Ananias and wife, when grace is resisted over time. Meaning, God withhold consequences permanently if we grow in His fear and live a life of repentance from sin.
ON THE FLIP SIDE, HE WILL ALLOW THEM TO SPEAK TO TURN US FROM EVIL, IF BEGIN TO USE HIS GRACE TO ADVANCE OUR PRACTICE OF SIN.
When the consequences of Ananias sin fell on him, and that of his wife, Saphira, the Bible says great fear fell on the people. The fear of God was the result, teaching us that if God’s grace shown for a long time, did not result in the fear of GOD in our lives, consequences will create His fear.
What we do not allow God’s grace to accomplish; judgment or consequences will accomplish. One way or the other, the fear of the LORD will be promoted. Friend, understand that no one who has resisted God’s grace has ever ended well. But the fear of God has ever ended well.
When Cain who God showed grace to prevent him from killing Abel, resisted God’s grace, he went on and prospered economically but outside the presence of the LORD. At the end of the day, consequences came in form of the flood, Cain and his lineage were wiped away, but till date, the fear of the LORD is still here.
People who resist God’s grace over time, do not end well, but the fear of the God of all grace will always end well. God does not want us to resist His grace, if we do not, it will save us from much including witchcraft. The very thing we have been looking at in our devotional this season.
Many do not know that sometimes witchcraft attacks are successful, not because they are powerful but because while some resist the grace of God over time, others live their lives outside its spiritual coverage area perpetually. That is what the plains of Moab represents. They represents realms where the grace of God will never cover us until we come into proper order.
Isreal faced terrible attacks at the plains of Moab. They camped there for a while during those attacks. But none of the attacks even got on to them, because they were in proper order. They camped according to divine instructions and formed the shape of the cross, a replica of God’s grace. It made God their Iron dome.
HE MET BALAAM AND STOPPED ALL THE WITCHCRAFT ATTACKS HE AND BALAK WERE ATTEMPTING TO STRIKE THEM WITH.
We saw that in previous devotionals. You will never survive any Witchcraft attack if you are not under the coverage area of God’s grace. People who are covered by God’s grace, cannot be destroyed by witches. Their lives are usually in proper order; an order with capacity to destroy any witchcraft attacks. Concerning the plains of Moab, our devotional text says:

Is there any further mystery hidden in the plains of Moab that can be of help to us in our quest to defeat witchcraft? To start with, let me say this. To solve certain spiritual attacks, the root cause of problems must be discovered; they must be discovered using the light of God’s mysteries in the scriptures.
That is where the scriptural light on the mystery of the plains of Moab comes in. The nation of Moab was a product of witchcraft.
The daughters of Lot practiced witchcraft on their father and got pregnant by him. They controlled him with alcohol to do the unthinkable. Witchcraft also involves the control of humans using strange influences. For them it was the influence of alcohol that they used. Obviously, the demons of sexual perversion must have followed them from Sodom and Gomorrah when they left the city.
THIS DEMON USED THEIR WORRIES TO SWAY THEM TO SLEEP WITH THEIR FATHER; AN ABOMINATION IN GOD’S SIGHT.
Satan will always use our worries to sway us to do the abominable. Indeed, worrying is not a good thing that is why Jesus said, “do not worry” (Matthew 6:31). Worries have a way of blindfolding the mind and seducing it to think of very terrible things, and don’t forget, we eventually do and become what we think.
For instance, people have gotten married to very terrible people because of worries. They did not see who the people really were because worrying about being single blind-folded them.
Worries have driven people into places and programs that are not God’s will for their life. Worry is a seed of destruction on its own. It has a way of making the wrong thing look right.
It’s an abomination in God’s sight for children to have sex with their father or vice versa. But worrying blinded the daughters of Lot to think it’s no longer an abomination. It blinded them to think there was no man on the face of the earth to be married to, but from Bible history there were villages that surrounded the place they lived. Men were in those villages.
Obviously, worrying blinded those women to think their Dad was the Only Man left on earth, just as it is blinding women today to think they are more women than men on earth, hence leading them to snatch other people’s husbands and do other abominable things.
Besides, if Lot had listened to the angel when he was told to flee to the mountains, divine provision would have met his obedience.
They would have met God’s people there. And there would have been no need for the mess. But worry did not let him obey the angels, and here is the same spirit moving his daughters to do the unthinkable. They became too blind by their worries, consequently, seeing sex with their dad as the only key to keeping his lineage alive. When an abomination becomes acceptable in your sight, you have touched witchcraft.
WHEN VICES BECOME VIRTUES TO YOU, WITCHCRAFT IS AT WORK.
That means worries have a way of pushing people into the witchcraft net. The Bible says,
“Now the firstborn said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is no man on the earth to come in to us as is the custom of all the earth.
Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve the lineage of our father.” So they made their father drink wine that night. And the firstborn went in and lay with her father, and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose.
It happened on the next day that the firstborn said to the younger, “Indeed I lay with my father last night; let us make him drink wine tonight also, and you go in and lie with him, that we may preserve the lineage of our father.”
Then they made their father drink wine that night also. And the younger arose and lay with him, and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose.
Thus both the daughters of Lot were with child by their father. The firstborn bore a son and called his name Moab; he is the father of the Moabites to this day. And the younger, she also bore a son and called his name Ben-Ammi; he is the father of the people of Ammon to this day. Genesis 19:31-38 NKJV
From this scripture it’s clear that the nation of Moab was founded on the wrong stone. One word we can use to describe the stone is “Incest.” Wherever witchcraft exists sexual boundaries are removed. Incest and other forms of sexual perversion will be present. Moab was founded on activities of witchcraft.
What further meaning or mystery can we get from the Phrase, the plain of Moab?
