THE CRY OF THE SPIRIT DEVOTIONALS – BY RICHARD E. S. TAKIM

TODAY’S DEVOTION (TUESDAY 11TH FEBRUARY 2025)

After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying:

“Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them — the children of Israel.

Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Joshua 1:1-3, 8 NKJV

WELCOME TO THE 42ND DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY

May the LORD grant you victory today in Jesus precious name. May you see victory wherever you go and may your paths be watered with God’s presence. May His mercy be upon you and may His word not cease from manifesting as a light on your paths. Amen!!

Since the start of the year, the Spirit of Truth has been showing us things that are very beautiful. The latest was a very beautiful truth on divine acceleration. We discovered that we all need it to lead victorious lives. If you missed that devotional, please go get it and read. It is just great.

Today we want to look at the Mystery of “doing the word.” The phrase might not sound well in terms of the technicalities of English language, but it is a Biblical expression that holds a great message.

The Bible teaches that what we hear will enlighten us, but what we do will change our lives. Meaning, it is not what you hear that blesses you. It is what you do. What you hear will only make you educated, but not all educated people are living good lives.

All these go to show that destiny is not released when we hear, it is only released when we do.

The Bible says we should “be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving ourselves.” If we hear and do not do, the Bible made it clear that we have deceived ourselves, and such self-deception will not allow our divine destiny to be unleashed.

THE GOSPEL IS NOT PREACHED TO BE HEARD ALONE BUT TO BE OBEYED.

As a result, it is not the hearers or readers of the word that are blessed but the doers of the word. It is the doing of the word that unlocks a divine destiny, among other forces, and that word is not the word of a man but the word of God. It is not even a word of a man of God presented to you as a word from God, but a true word from God.

People who do words from men of God that are not really from God suffer shipwreck in their faith. They fail in the release of their destinies.

In fact, many only end up helping the man of God become rich and famous, but them diminished and miserable because they will not find a true word from God for their lives and follow. God’s will is that you find a true word from the LORD and follow, not just any word from a so called anointed prophet of God.

Some false prophets and heretic teachers tell people to buy special padlocks and meet them with some money to unlock their destiny. You do not buy special keys and padlock and take to prophets to unlock your destiny. You do the word of the LORD to unlock your divine destiny.

Others even ask people to raise some altars or silent some to unlock their destinies, but you do not raise an altar or silence anyone to unlock your destiny. You find God’s true word for your life and follow it with the whole of your heart to unlock your destiny.

You do not even look for your lost star to unlock your destiny. If you find a true word from the LORD for your life, and live your day pursuing it, your destiny will be unlocked. You will discover that you do not have a star, rather you are the star. Halleluiah!

Understanding that what is standing between the current you and the future you, is a true word from the LORD that you are to keep doing until you become the great you that God created you to be is very crucial to your life this year more than any other year.

THIS YEAR IS NOT LIKE ANY OTHER. THE TRUMP SIGN WE PROPHESIED IN 2016 IS IN FULL MOON NOW. THE YEAR IS DIFFERENT.

Remove your heart from the many things that are attracting your attention and fix it on the one thing God crated you to do with your life. Move from just hearing to doing. It will put provisions and people on your path to help you become what God shot you into your mother’s womb to be on the face of the earth.

We see that littered all through Bible History. You must live your life around one true word from the LORD, a prophetic mandate to keep living for until your days are fulfilled. That is the will of God for you. When God was commissioning Joshua for ministry, one major instruction He gave him is what our devotional text this morning captured.

A major highlight in the text said;

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

If you look at this scripture carefully, you will discover that Joshua’s success in the release of his divine destiny was not anchored on sowing financial seeds into another ministry or prayer and fasting. There is nothing wrong with sowing financial seeds into another man’s ministry.

But Joshua’s success was not anchored on that; it was anchored on doing the word of the LORD. Someone might say, is it not the word of the LORD to be sowing financial seeds into another man’s ministry to succeed in your own ministry? No!! It is not. It is not a word that will unleash you. It might bless you in some ways but not unleash you.

Besides, you can only sow seeds into another ministry if yours is succeeding. If you are struggling at the bottom of life, it is not a lack of tithing or sowing that is responsible, but a lack of doing the word of the LORD. You are not following the ways of the LORD for your life, that is why you are failing.

YOU CAN ONLY MAKE YOUR WAY PROPSEROUS BY FOLLOWING WHAT THE LORD TEACHES. PERIOD!!!

You follow the teachings of the LORD in the Bible and the very word He created your life to fulfill on the face of the earth. If you sow financial seeds, fast and pray but live a life of rebellion; a life that is not in harmony with the word of the LORD for your life and prophetic destiny, there will be no progress.

It takes a doing of the word to become a fulfilled life on the face of the earth. Destiny is unleashed through implicit obedience to the voice or word of the LORD.

If there is no total submission and implicit obedience in your walk with the LORD, you will never release your destiny. People who walk in complete obedience to the voice or word of the LORD will be remembered for the great things God use their obedience to enable them to do.

Those who do not will be remembered for their failures.

They will be remembered for the things they did to terminate God’s move in their lives and take themselves away from the plan. King Saul comes to mind at this point. Whenever we talk about rebellion and disobedience, he comes to mind. It is not a good reference.

He was the first king of Israel. When God made him king, prophecies had it that his Kingdom was to continue forever. That was the content of what the LORD wanted to do with Him. But that divine plan was not fulfilled. He killed it using the internal power of rebellion.

The most powerful weapon in the spirit realm is rebellion. It can do to us what demons cannot do. It can ruin our lives in ways that the entire host of hell cannot.

IN 2025, DO NOT WALK IN REBELLION. LIVE YOUR DAYS OBEYING GOD. DO NOT BE LIKE KING SAUL.

The Bible says that the first word God gave him to do was an instruction to wait for seven days at Gilgal until Samuel the prophets come to establish his kingdom over Israel. He waited but could not complete his obedience.

The worst thing about his waiting was him going ahead to make a sacrifice that only a prophet was ordained to make.

That was how he began to cancel his divine destiny. He trespassed just like Satan and lost his place. But that was not the end of his rebellious acts. The next word He could not do was the complete annihilation of the Amalekites. God has sent Samuel to him with the instruction below;

“Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘I will punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, how he ambushed him on the way when he came up from Egypt.”

“Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.'” 1 Samuel 15:2-3 NKJV

But this again he could not do. He obeyed the LORD but partially. The consequences that followed showed us that partial obedience is no obedience in the sight of God. It made it clear that if you obey the LORD partially, or do His word partially, you will leave gaps for His enemies to stand and hinder His kingdom later.

Many do not know that our obedience is all God needs to advance His kingdom on earth, while our rebellion is all Satan needs to cancel the advance. If you know that, no one will convince you to live a life that detests disobedience and rebellion like a plague.

You will lead a life that the enemy will not find an act of disobedience to use in thwarting God’s purpose for your life.

Saul would later abort his divine destiny and fall under the sword of divine judgment. The Bible gave two reasons why God killed him. The Bible says God killed him because He did not obey the voice of the LORD and because he consulted a witch.

I have come to discover that it is people who do not love doing the word of the LORD that fall victims of lying prophets. It is those who do not know or do the word of the LORD that visit witches and wizards called prophets and run after them for miracles. What is the message this morning?

The message is simple; your divine destiny is full of divine instructions to be obeyed and divine commands to be executed. If you do not develop the mindset of swiftly doing the word of the LORD, you will abort God’s plan for your life and come to a tragic end like Saul. That is the message!

MAKE THIS SCRIPTURE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR THE DAY;

Now the word of the Lord came to Samuel, saying, “I greatly regret that I have set up Saul as king, for he has turned back from following Me, and has not performed My commandments.” And it grieved Samuel, and he cried out to the Lord all night.

So when Samuel rose early in the morning to meet Saul, it was told Samuel, saying, “Saul went to Carmel, and indeed, he set up a monument for himself; and he has gone on around, passed by, and gone down to Gilgal.” Then Samuel went to Saul, and Saul said to him, “Blessed are you of the Lord! I have performed the commandment of the Lord.”

But Samuel said, “What then is this bleating of the sheep in my ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?” And Saul said, “They have brought them from the Amalekites; for the people spared the best of the sheep and the oxen, to sacrifice to the Lord your God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.”

Then Samuel said to Saul, “Be quiet! And I will tell you what the Lord said to me last night.” And he said to him, “Speak on.”

So Samuel said, “When you were little in your own eyes, were you not head of the tribes of Israel? And did not the Lord anoint you king over Israel?

Now the Lord sent you on a mission, and said, ‘Go, and utterly destroy the sinners, the Amalekites, and fight against them until they are consumed.’ Why then did you not obey the voice of the Lord? Why did you swoop down on the spoil, and do evil in the sight of the Lord?”

And Saul said to Samuel, “But I have obeyed the voice of the Lord, and gone on the mission on which the Lord sent me, and brought back Agag king of Amalek; I have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.

But the people took of the plunder, sheep and oxen, the best of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice to the Lord your God in Gilgal.”

So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams.

For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.” 1 Samuel 15:10-23 NKJV
