THE CRY OF THE SPIRIT DEVOTIONALS – BY RICHARD E. S. TAKIM

TODAY’S DEVOTION (Wednesday 24th September 2025)

“But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.

And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. Revelation 21:22-25 NKJV

WELCOME TO THE 267th DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY

God be glorified for giving us another day to be alive and well. It is out of His mercies that we are not consumed for His compassion fails not.

For 267 days, the Spirit of the LORD has made us, and the breath of the Almighty has been giving us life.

Many think that their ability to breathe in and out came from the power of their healthy lungs. Yes, that is true but not totally true. There is someone who powers the lungs to function properly. He is responsible for our ability to breathe in and out.

He is called the breath of the Almighty, the Spirit of Truth, the River of God, the Spirit of the LORD, the blessed Holy Spirit, full of mercy, kindness, tolerance and a whole lot than we can mention. If there is no Him, there will be no us. That is why as soon as you come into Christ, you receive Him in fullness.

In fact, He brings you to Christ, and Christ fills you with Him.

He is the One that has made sure that the darkness of this year does not consume us. He has made Christ the LIGHT of our world and filled us with His peace. The Bible says:

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life.” John 8:12 NKJV

If you are walking in the darkness of this age, it’s a major sign that you have not yielded to the Holy Spirit enough to make Jesus the light of your world. The darkness of a man’s world could constitute his failures, his disappointments, his regrets, his sorrows, his pains, his fears, his worries, or illnesses, his economic challenges, his depressions, and loss of hope.

THEY ALL STEAM FROM THE DARKNESS OF THIS AGE!!

But of the Holy Spirit make Jesus the light of our world, we would not walk in any darkness. He said, “He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life.” Yes, the person’s world will be full of the light of life, resulting in victories over his depressions, illnesses, worries, fears, failures, sorrows and pains, etc.

Off course, the Bible spoke about the darkness of an age. That tells us there is also darkness of a year. 2025 has its own darkness. We have watched things happen and seen so much take place this year alone. We have also seen those who made Jesus the light of their world, overcome all the year threw at them.

The darkness of an age or a year includes sicknesses from the pits of hell, sudden destruction, dangerous political and economic climatic conditions of a year, especially conditions that make people poor, die or suffer from moral decay, sin and all kinds of evil that Satan spew into a year from the pit of hell.

Those are the things that constitute the darkness of a year. But as earlier stated, those who make Jesus the light of their world will never see these things. The Bible says we will not walk in them (He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life).

Who you follow spiritually, will determine where you walk in physically. Who you follow internally will determine what follows you externally. It is the Spirit or spirit at work in us that determines what follows us in life, not necessarily who we may be following.

If you are walking in darkness, it is a sign that something else is leading you internally. You are not following Jesus!! Maybe that thing that is leading you is darkness, and if darkness is leading you, darkness will follow you. It is when light leads you that light follows you.

The light that must lead you for light to follow you is Jesus Christ, the true light that lightens men’s lives.

HIS MANIFESTATION AS LIGHT IS DESIGNED TO SHINE IN EVERY DARK AREA OF OUR LIVES.

For example, when He shines on our bitter hearts, the bitterness will dissolve, and our hearts will be free. When He shines on hate, it will turn into love for even the unlovable. This true Light can shine on a sinful life and turn it into a holy life. It can shine on an abandoned child, wife or husband and becomes their great companions.

It shines on marital crisis and turns it into marital bliss.

It shines into a life of lack and poverty and turns it into a life of abundance and surplus. This true light teaches us to profit righteously. It shines in our Hearts and connects us to the power to get wealth. It shines everywhere we turn it on, to fix our lives and make us glorious again.

It shines on our confusion and gives us direction to follow. It shines on our disappointment and lets us see the big picture – what Heaven can turn it into. It shines on our sicknesses and help us connect the Healing power of Christ. It shines on the scars in our hearts and brings out a message that can redeem a dying world from damnation.

Jesus Christ is indeed the true light of the world; the only light that illuminates men. He does not illuminate houses, streets or Cities. That is what electricity does. He illuminates people. That is why even if you are living in a dark place where there is no electricity, if you have Him in your heart as the light of your world, you are not in darkness.

He is the true light that lightens every man that comes into the world – any man who turns to Him. Speaking about the mission of John the Baptist on earth and the difference between him and Christ, the Bible says;

“There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.” John 1:6-9 KJV

WHO YOU FOLLOW IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH WILL DETERMINE WHAT FOLLOWS YOU IN THE SPIRIT REALM

If you have not met Christ in spirit and in truth, even if you live under the brightest and most beautiful electrical lights on earth, you are still in darkness. Darkness will keep following you. That is why people do have a lot of adversity in their prosperity.

No electrical light is the true light because it just illuminates houses, streets etc. but cannot illuminate any man. Jesus is the true Light, because He is the one who lightens or illuminates men. His light does not just expel sickness, sin, ignorance of God, poverty, hopelessness, sorrows, etc. It also expels any other form of darkness that makes men miserable and devour-able when fully put to work.

That is why you will not walk in darkness if you walk in Him – the light of the world. The Bible says:

“He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” John 1:2-5 NKJV

This scripture makes it clear that the greatest illumination on earth is not from the sun that shines to illuminate the earth in the day or the moon at night. The greatest illumination of the earth is Jesus Christ, the Sun of righteousness. He created the sun we see with our natural eyes so that we can find the Sun we cannot see with our natural eyes.

We need Him in our lives now more than ever!!! It is those who have Him now as their Sun of Righteousness that will have Him in the coming age as their shining Sun.

Let us close this devotional with some eschatological truths. The Book of Revelation made it clear that someday we will no longer need the Sun to illuminate our lives. There is an age that is coming where the world as we know it will be no more. The age will be ushered in by the appearing of Jesus to take the saint’s home.

THAT IS WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS THE TRUE GRACE OF GOD WILL MAKE A TRULY REDEEMED MAN TO LOOK UP TO.

The word says,

“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,

looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. Titus 2:11-14 NKJV

Clearly, if your salvation is not urging you to look up to the coming age, it is either the encounter you had was not real or you lack the revelation of the age to come. The scriptures made it clear that there is an age when we will no longer need the present sun. It says in the days of that age, Jesus will manifest in full strength as the Sun of righteousness, illuminating the entire creation of God from Jerusalem, where the center of the earth is.

That brings us to our devotional text for today! John the revelator saw this coming age and wrote saying:

“But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.

And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. Revelation 21:22-25 NKJV

I don’t know what you are looking up to as a Christian. What you look up to as a child of God determines the manifestation of God in your life.

THERE IS A GENERATION THAT IS LOOKING UP TO THIS COMING AGE.

They are purifying themselves from anything sinful, satanic, or worldly and pressing into God to find a place there. They are making use of God’s love in their lives to purify themselves. By God’s grace, I and they that the LORD have given me are part of this generation. Our goal is see His blessed face when He shall come. I urge you to become part of this generation.

We don’t know in full what we shall be when we step out of this Body in readiness to get there, because it has not yet been revealed. But one thing we know is this; we shall be like Him (Christ) when we step there. He will be fully made manifest to in the glories of Heaven! That is the Hope the Holy Spirit has planted in our hearts. Hence helping us to purify ourselves just as He (Christ) is pure.

You can make use of these revelation truths to begin a fresh and sweeter walk with Jesus today. It’s never too late. You begin by making Him the light of your world. Then you grow by locating a church that will help you live that way until destiny is fulfilled.

MAKE THIS SCRIPTURE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR THE DAY!

“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.” 1 John 3:1-3 NKJV
