THE CRY OF THE SPIRIT DEVOTIONALS – BY RICHARD E. S. TAKIM

TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL (FRIDAY 14th August 2026)

“…Then your light shall dawn in the darkness, And your darkness shall be as the noonday.

The Lord will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.” Isaiah 58:10-11 NKJV

WELCOME TO THE 226TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF STRATEGIC VICTORIES!

God has been so good to us!! He has been gracious to our souls. We thank Him for another day that He has made. His mercies have been indeed new every morning, and great has been his faithfulness. We all sleep and wake up because He keeps us.

Today there is a word for us. Our lives cannot survive by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. There is a proceeding word for us today.

To start with, lets us understand that living this life without the Spirit, direction, provisions, vision, governing influence, and anointing of the one who created it can be very difficult. It can result in a life full of sin, sorrow, misery, adversity, guilt, pain, curses, hinderances, spiritual oppressions and all forms of illnesses and backwardness.

The life was not created to be lived without the empowerment, influence, and presence of the one who created it. Our attempt to live without all that is the reason for the dark days we do have.

But if we have His Spirit, His direction, provisions, vision, governing influence, and anointing or presence in this life, even the dark days that come will be turned into light. A major line of our devotional text puts the result of that this way; “…Then your light shall dawn in the darkness, and your darkness shall be as the noonday.”

This statement means a lot to our lives. It means if we have the Spirit, direction, provision, vision, governing influence, the anointing and active presence of the one who gave us our lives, I mean the one who created it, it will be turning our hardest times of sadness and confusion into moments of deep joy, clear guidance and bright peace.

YES, WE WILL LIVE VICTORIOUS AND TRIUMPHANT LIVES.

The owner of our lives will be making our personal hard times disappeared like tin air. They will be fading away when they come, thereby defeating the reason the enemy sent them our way. He will end any trouble and sadness that comes, and give us fresh, and hopeful new starts like the morning sun. Hallelujah!

That was what Job enjoyed after his dark days, hence coming out with an uncommon blessing that erased all that the enemy did in His life. He got a fresh start that was better than the life he lived before the enemy struck. The Bible says,

“Now the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys.

He also had seven sons and three daughters. And he called the name of the first Jemimah, the name of the second Keziah, and the name of the third Keren-Happuch. In all the land were found no women so beautiful as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers.

After this Job lived one hundred and forty years, and saw his children and grandchildren for four generations. So Job died, old and full of days. Job 42:12-17 NKJV

What a beautiful life this is. What a beautiful life that came out of the most terrible experiences of life a man can ever have on this side of eternity. The life would not have been possible if Job had not allowed the owner of his life to have His way and do whatever He wants with it.

During his dark days he never behaved like he owned his life. At one time he was tempted to cease control. His wife said to him he should curse God and die. That would have been him declaring himself in charge and challenging the right of the real owner of his life over it.

BUT HE RELENTED AND ACTED WISELY.

That is how the LORD wants us to live. He wants us to live this life, not as its owner but as its steward. He does not want us questioning His authority over it and making choices or decisions that usurp His ownership in any way. He does not want us to walk in rebellion, disobedience, and carnality because such behavior questions his ownership in one way or the other.

He wants us to live lives that shows we do not own our lives, He owns them. If we live lives that shows we own our lives instead of Him, we will never come out well from any dark day that strikes us. Do not forget, the world is unpredictable. Things might be fine today and not fine tomorrow. So, our lives needs its owner keeping them on daily basis.

If we do not allow Him to own our lives, we will be hindering His Spirit, anointing and active presence from taking care of the life, thereby preventing Him from turning any dark day that may come into glorious outcomes.

Child of God, a lot of good things happens to a man’s life when the anointing and active presence of the real owner is in charge. We see all that in the holy scriptures, especially our devotional text.

The next part of the devotional text says, “The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.” (Isaiah 58:11 NKJV)

This means the owner of our lives will continue to lead every step of the way, satisfying our needs even in economic dry difficult times like the ones many are facing today due to government policies of our nations, and personal decisions and wrong choices. It also means that He will be renewing our physical and spiritual vitality, giving us a life that remains alive with joy, a life that does not run dry of peace, prosperity, and progress like a steady spring.

All we need to do is to allow Him to be in charge, direct our lives, govern them, and yield to His Spirit and active presence. We should never act like we own our lives.

Friend, as we bring this to a close, understand that it pays to allow the active presence and anointing of the owner of your life to run it. It pays to allow His governing influence rule it. Do not forget, your life is not your own. If you live it like your own, it will lack the manifestation of these beautiful things only its owner can create.

MAKE THIS SCRIPTURE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR THE DAY!!

“If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me.

If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,” Even the night shall be light about me; Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to You.

For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.” Psalm 139:9-14 NKJV
