TODAY’S DEVOTION (Sunday 30TH January 2022)
“Therefore say I unto you, the kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.” Matthew 21:43-44 KJV
WELCOME TO THE 30TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF AMAZING GRACE
Today will mark the 30th day of God’s faithfulness in our lives since we stepped into this year. He has kept us from the battles of January and has seen us through. To Him belong the glory.
We are in the second and last day of the month, and by tomorrow we will be saying good bye to January 2022, never to see it again. It will be forever buried into the stand of time, only to be a memory in the minds of those who have one thing or the other to share about the month.
The dynamics of time and how things are moving should teach every sane person wisdom. It was Moses, our father who prayed and said to God, “LORD teach us to number our days, so we can apply our hearts into wisdom.” The King James version of the Bible puts it this way;
“Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath. So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Psalm 90:11-12 AKJV
ONE OF THE FRIENDS OF JOB SAID TO HIM MULTITUDE OF YEARS SHOULD TEACH WISDOM
If we are not learning anything as the days goes by, it is a sign that we are not living. Yes, it is a sign that we are not growing, we are stagnant. We are called to number our days and apply our hearts unto wisdom. Another translation puts it this way;
“Teach us to number our days carefully so that we may develop wisdom in our hearts.” Psalm 90:12 CSB
The days the LORD gives us to live are designed to help us develop wisdom in our hearts. But it all depends on the activities we get ourselves involved in. It is activities that determines productivity.
If we do not get ourselves involved with the right activities, we will never gain a heart of wisdom even if we are a thousand years old.
That is why you find some old men or women having nothing to offer to the young generation despite the years they have lived on earth. It is the kind of activities we get ourselves involve in that determines if we can make use of our days and use them to direct our lives properly.
For the past episodes of our devotionals we have been looking at the mystery of consecration and matters of personal holiness. One thing to apply our hearts unto, especially in a crooked and perverse generation is personal holiness. You will discover that the central theme of the Bible is actually personal Holiness. That is why you find those who burry themselves sin it leading holy lives.
It is very dangerous to walk through the days the LORD has given us to live without making the Bible our friend. It was GOD’s servant John Hagee that said, the word Bible means Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth. How true this is! That is why it is very dangerous to live through the days the LORD has allocated is to live without making friendship with the word.
AND TALKING ABOUT APPLYING OUR HEARTS UNTO WISDOM, THE BIBLE IS ONE MAJOR CATALYST OR SOURCE TO DIVINE WISDOM.
Paul made it clear in his letter to Timothy that the scripture is able to make us wise. Actually, I am yet to find a Christian who studies his Bible and meditates in the written word on its pages, day and night walking in foolishness. They will always find wisdom to apply their hearts unto in the days of crisis.
Personal I grew up to discover that meditating in the word has a way of impregnating a man with supernatural wisdom and other impartations that unlocks the divine. Meditating in GOD’s word is the instrument destiny men uses in interacting with what is from above.
It is very important to note that if our lives are not prospering, before we think of going after a prophet, we should just check what we may have been meditating upon, because, it is what we meditate upon that we will think about and end up seeing in our lives. The Bible says;
“Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. Psalm 1:1-3 NKJV
If you look at this scripture very well, you will see the power of spending the days the LORD has given us on His word and application of the same in our daily lives. If you say you are a Christian but you do not create time for word impartation; seasons you must lock yourself up with the word until Light shines in your heart, you will have enough trouble waters in life to swim out from.
I have shared it before on this platform that every man and women who ever walked with God spent time with Him in deep meditation! Men like Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the prophets, and the apostles gave themselves entirely to prayer and the ministry of the word – which implies time spent with what we now have as the Bible.
IF YOU ARE TOO NOISY AND BUSY, YOU WILL BE TOO FEEBLE IN THE SPIRIT. YOU WILL LACK WHAT IT TAKES TO SURVIVE.
In fact, you will be “eatable” meaning devils can feed on you. Wordless Christians are worthless Christians. The Bible is the greatest asset of men and women of spiritual worth in Christ Jesus. When it impacts your life deeply, you will become a lively stone of His kingdom on earth.
Many of us do not know that we are destined to be God’s lively stones on the face of the earth. Peter wrote about this when he stated;
Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 2:4-6 NKJV
We are lively stones that are being built together into one temple for God on the face of the earth, to offer Him acceptable spiritual sacrifices through our corporate worship. But if we do not spend time with the Bible meditating in His word, we will not fulfill this portion of our destiny.
When the living word enters our spirit, and we allow it to settle in us, it will process us into lively stones spiritually. When we become God’s lively stones, it will become impossible for us to be defeated by the perils of life. A major highlight in our devotional text today says;
“And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder”
When you become a lively stone in God’s hands, whosoever falls on you will be broken; but whoever you fall on will be grinded. Hallelujah!
I tell people to stop being enemy conscious and become God conscious. When you become God conscious, “eating” His precious word in the Bible with your spirit daily, you will become a lively stone in the spirit. When you become a lively stone, your enemies will begin to go through torments for coming against you without you even praying about it.
Sadly, many of us do not feed our spirits as instructed by the LORD. We do not give it the required breakfast and dinner as outlined in scriptures. We feed our bodies and abandon our spirits hence becoming food for our enemies.
But I pray for you to day that you stop denying your spirit it’s required breakfast and dinner. I pray that you feed your faith and starve your doubts to death, like God’s servant Lister Sumrall once said.
I pray that when we wake up each morning, the first thing to look for to EAT will be the word of the LORD. That we will no longer allows our hearts to drift into anything. We will first pick our Bibles to look for what Heaven has prepared for us that morning for spiritual food! We will no longer be part of that generation that pursues the earthly at the expense of the eternal.
MAKE THIS SCRIPTURE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION;
Moreover He said to me, “Son of man, eat what you find; eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.” So I opened my mouth, and He caused me to eat that scroll.
And He said to me, “Son of man, feed your belly, and fill your stomach with this scroll that I give you.” So I ate, and it was in my mouth like honey in sweetness. Ezekiel 3:1-3 NKJV
