TODAY’S DEVOTION (SUNDAY 8TH SEPTEMBER 2024)

WELCOME TO THE 252ND DAY OF OUR YEAR OF IMPACT.
This year has taught some of us that, people who spend their days under the power of God’s mercies, will not be submerged by the mess of living in a fallen world.
Honestly, if I look at how we have fared this year and the quality of people that the year has consumed in death, I have no other words than to say it is out of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed. When you hear of better, holier, and healthier people than you, passing on, then you have no choice than to admit that God’s mercies has really kept you!
On the other hand, when you see those who have fulfilled their days going to be with the LORD, it tells you to live your days in fear and trembling, serving Him with all your might. It helps you to appreciate each day He allows you to be alive. Indeed, if GOD should mark iniquity no one can stand. But there is forgiveness with Him that He may be feared.
I think the loudest way we can tell the LORD, “thank you for keeping us alive,” is by faithfully living a life that fear Him.
Each act of God’s goodness, is a seed sown into our lives, to unlock a harvest called, “the fear of God.” People who do not know how to appreciate God by enhancing their fear for Him will eventually lose whatever His goodness may have brought. They will lose it because of their attitude or ingratitude.
Today, God wants to speak to us about the anointing of His Holy Spirit. Our devotional text this morning has a major line that says;
“He permitted no one to do them wrong; Yes, He rebuked kings for their sakes, Saying, “Do not touch My anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm.” Psalms 105:14-15 NKJV
As I have always stated, this scripture has been used by many of us preachers to put our members under fear or threat. But what we do not realize is this, the scripture was not originally referring to the clergy, but to the entire nation of Israel, because the nation was a prophetic and anointed people!
God does not want anyone in the Body of Christ to be harmed by the evil one, or his evil men and women. He wants us protected. Hence making His anointing available to all who seek it!
YES, TO ALL WHO SEEK IT; WHO STAY WITH HIM IN THE SECRET PLACE JUST TO KNOW HIM AND TO HAVE IT.
Understand that, the anointing of the Holy Spirit is what God puts on us to protect us. His throne will smear it on us and decree to the evil one and his evil men and women, saying; “Do not touch My anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm.”
The Bible teaches of the three levels of the supernatural; faith, the anointing and the glory. The anointing is an equipping for the earth – it protects us as we live by faith.
The anointing is not for the protection of anyone in Heaven. It is for our protection on earth. In Heaven, it is the glory that operates there. Yes, the glory protected Israel before the cross, but now we have the anointing. We have it to protect us and enable us to function.
That is why you cannot succeed on earth without the anointing. It will need to empower you to function and succeed on earth. Sadly, many take the olive oil in the bottle as the anointing. But that is not what the Bible teaches. That was a shadow that most people have stuck to.
If you want to succeed or function on earth without limits, you do not need the anointing oil in a bottle, but the anointing of the Holy Spirit in the presence of the LORD.
Yes, for instance, if you want to succeed in marriage, you need the anointing of the Holy Ghost to guide you from the season of your choice for a mate, to the season of marriage and family life. You will need the anointing of the Holy Spirit all through because it is the anointing of the Holy Spirit that will be needed to enable you bear and raise your Children.
It will be needed during marital conflict to help you manage it properly.
Any marriage that lacks the anointing of the Holy Ghost will either crash or lose its bliss! You might apply oil everywhere, but it will only take the anointing of the Holy Spirit on the lives of couples to make their marriage work, not the application of oil anywhere.
THIS BIBLE TRUTH IS APPLICABLE TO ALL OTHER ASPECTS OF LIFE.
Apart from helping us to function properly on earth, the anointing of the Holy Spirit also has a way of helping us to improve our walk and talk with God. If we do not have the anointing of the Holy Spirit, we cannot enjoy our walk and talk with God.
In fact, it will be unfruitful and thoroughly hindered.
Friend, it takes the anointing of the Holy Spirit to walk with an invisible God. The reason for that is obvious. God is Spirit, not physical. We cannot relate fruitfully with an invisible God without the anointing of His Holy Spirit helping us to sense Him and hear His voice.
Oh yes, as we walk through the pathways of our daily life with the LORD, we will need the anointing of the Holy Spirit to make the walk fruitful.
Everyone God ever called to walk with Him was anointed before He could do so. That brings us to the next areas we will need the anointing of the Holy Ghost on, and that area is our finances. God spoke about the role of the anointing of the Holy Ghost in our economic lives when He said this to the nation of Israel;
“And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.! Deuteronomy 8:18 NKJV
The anointing of the Holy Ghost manifest in our economic lives as the power to get wealth!
Wealth is one thing on the face of the earth that, if you do not have the power to get, you will remain in financial difficulties. If you want to prosper by the power of God, you will need the anointing of the Holy Ghost in your life. When it comes on you, whatever you do with your hands will begin to prosper.
It was the anointing that helped Isaac to reap bountifully from a dry land that had not been rained on. It made his crops to yielded a 100-fold the same year, despite famine and lack of rain. The anointing is God’s lubricant for sweat less living.
It is one thing that needs to be flowing in our lives consistently. That is the word of the LORD for us today. Please run with it for the rest of your life, and things will be well with you. Additionally, find a church that will not be pouring anointing oil upon your head, but teaching you to walk in the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
