TODAY’S DEVOTION (TUESDAY 28TH JANUARY 2025)
“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” Matthew 7:26-27 NKJV
WELCOME TO THE 27TH DAY OF OUR YEAR OF VICTORY.
Today we want to look at some Bible Truths that will be of help to our life in Christ. We will begin with some statements on divine will.
Everyone who has walked with the LORD will tell you, it is wisdom to be in divine will, and foolishness not to be. It is even more dangerous to be in what looks like divine will but not really is. The place of divine will is the most secured place to be both on earth.
It has a way of attracting constant supply of grace, which regularly manifest as the unction to function in any given task God may have assigned to you. There is something God wants us to spend our entire life doing – that is His predetermined purposes for our lives.
If you want to bring down whatever sin or Satan may have erected in your life, step into God’s predetermined plan or will, for your life.
Anything you do not want in your life can be completely taken down by doing just that. The only place Satan is completely rendered powerless in a man’s life, is the place of divine will; the place of using our lives, to do only what God wants us to do with it.
Satan will prefer having us in what everyone sees as God’s predetermined plan for our lives, which in spirit and in truth is not, than having us in what it really is. He knows that with our lives outside God’s predetermined plans, he can be in perfect control, but within God’s true plans, he cannot.
So many lives have been destroyed for being founded and built on the sand of humanistic philosophies, secular humanism, and other things that look good. The fact that a thing look good does not mean it can survive the harsh test of time.
A thing must be in God’s perfect will and ran in His ways, to survive this earth.
Our world is full of people who are literally sold out to purposes and plans outside God’s will and ways, especially in Church. They are sold out to humanism, the common way of solving problems without involving God, and the bedrock of all evil.
The Bible says anything built on the sand of humanism, will be destroyed by the floods, winds or storms of life. But that which is built on the rock of God’s will and ways, will survive the floods, winds, and storms of life.
THE WILL OF GOD IS A FOUNDATION THAT CANNOT BE PULLED DOWN, AND HIS WAYS, A WALL THAT CANNOT BE BROUGHT DOWN.
We are not designed to live any life that is outside it. That is why any marriage, family, job, business, financial life, faith, career, or personal life goal founded outside God’s will and ways, does not have His approval, and might result in eternal consequences, even if people succeed in it.
God designed that we lead peaceful lives one earth. He gave us Bible sense for doing so due to how unpredictable the earth can be.
The earth cannot be free of life troubles. It is better to understand that. The floods, storms and winds of life are not a matter of “if” but a matter of “when.” They are not conditional but unconditional. No matter how prayerful, anointed, supernatural, or aligned you are with God, they will come.
No matter how much you know and apply to your daily life, these things are inevitable; they will happen. They are normal occurrences of an earthly life. But the difference is in how they leave you after they may have happened to you.
Will they leave you standing or flattened? If your marriage, finances, faith, career, business, ministry or family is built on the rock, the floods, storms and winds of life that come against them will leave them standing. Surviving these life challenges is not just by prayer but by living a life that is founded in God’s will and ways.
For instance, I have heard of marriages that came under the storms of adultery, and persistent unfaithfulness from one of the spouses, standing after the storm.
It stood not because the offended spouse ignored the sin or condoned it. It stood because the sin was confronted strongly, and the spouse who sinned repented of his or her sins, returned to a Holy Spirit filled life, and lived the rest of his or her days sinning no more, which attracted forgiveness, a repair of the breach, and release of refreshing from the LORD.
IT IS THE WILL OF GOD THAT ONE WHO SINS REPENTS OF HIS OR HER SINS AND BECOME CONVERTED ENOUGH TO GROW TO SIN NO MORE.
But very few homes have survived that. Many have not survived because the spouse who sinned did not embrace the wisdom of God; the wisdom of repenting, becoming converted and growing in Christ to sin no more. If a man or woman who sins against another, does not repent of that sin and return to the ways of the LORD, that is one way of building a life on sand. It will sink.
In some cases, the spouse who was terribly hurt by the adultery of the other, was asked to forgive despite a lack of repentance. That is not the way and will of the LORD. There can be no genuine forgiveness if there is no genuine repentance.
So many are finding it to forgive others, because the people that needs their forgiveness are finding it difficult to repent of their sins.
Genuine repentance will always hasten genuine forgiveness. Even before the throne of God, no one had ever obtained mercy to find grace without first genuinely repenting from sins. That is the way God’s justice system functions. That is His will and way. The Bible says,
“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,” Acts 3:19 NIV
Building our lives on the foundation of God’s will and within the walls of His ways, is the best way to live our days in 2025 and beyond.
Do not let anyone confuse you about that. That is the faith position that need to be taken to for anyone to come to the place of seeing devils and all of their creation fleeing their lives, and releasing all they might be holding back. Our devotional text today says,
“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall”
Doing whatever the word says to us, especially at an immediate present, will get our lives founded in God’s will, and walled in by God’s ways. It is when our lives are built that way by the LORD using our obedience that His glory will surround it.
As we bring this devotional to a close, I want you to understand that your faith, prayers, or fasting will never eliminate or stop the storms, floods or winds of life from rising and hitting you. No! But you can survive all of them and come out stronger if you will apply the wisdom of living a life that does whatever the LORD says.
May the Blessings of the LORD be upon you today and always!! Amen.
MAKE THIS SCRIPTURE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION FOR THE DAY;
“To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in you; Let me not be ashamed; Let not my enemies triumph over me. Indeed, let no one who waits on you be ashamed; let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause.”
“Show me your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day. Remember, O Lord, Your tender mercies and your lovingkindnesses, for they are from of old.”
“Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions; according to your mercy remember me, for your goodness’ sake, O Lord. Good and upright is the Lord; Therefore He teaches sinners in the way.”
“The humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His way. All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth, to such as keep His covenant and His testimonies.”
“For Your name’s sake, O Lord, Pardon my iniquity, for it is great. Who is the man that fears the Lord? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses. He himself shall dwell in prosperity, and his descendants shall inherit the earth.”
“The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant.” Psalms 25:1-14 NKJV
