THE CRY OF THE SPIRIT DEVOTIONALS – BY RICHARD E. S. TAKIM

TODAY’S DEVOTION (Thursday 23rd April 2020)

“You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.” John 5:39-40 NKJV

WELCOME TO THE 114th DAY OF OUR YEAR OF REJOICING

It has sold more than any other book in human history. It is the oldest book to have ever written, yet it is new every morning. It is the only book made up of books on the face of the earth. This book has one author but many writers. It is the only book with an author who never dies.

What book are we talking about this day? The Bible is that book!

I remember stating these words four years ago and they still sound as fresh as they came that morning by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It has been our time and season of sharing thoughts on divine wisdom. Today we are going further into what the LORD wants us to share.

Yesterday we spoke about one of the greatest access to divine wisdom, the Holy Spirit. For those who may not know, we have been looking at access to divine wisdom all through this season. And we bless God for bringing us to certain depths of truth on these lines.

Most of we will be sharing today will come from what was shared four years ago on same subject. I hope you are ready to draw water of an Old well of salvation that has never grown old.

You cannot talk about access to divine wisdom without talking about the Bible. While the Holy Ghost functions as the Central Bank of Divine Wisdom, the Bible functions both as the eternal checkbook and withdrawal booklet for the bank. In other words, without the Bible we will not be able to withdraw divine wisdom from God’s Wisdom Bank.

Our devotional text today is a command to make use of the Bible effectively.

A major highlight in the text says, “You Search the scriptures.” People who do not search the scriptures and apply what they find in it to their lives, will spend their days in misery, living according to the script of their enemies. There will be no stability in their lives in the days of trouble. Do not forget, wisdom and knowledge are the stability of our times and the strength of our salvation.

If we do not search the scripture to find the revelation of Jesus Christ in all facets, His persons will be nonexistence in our lives, especially as the prince of peace. Divine wisdom carries the seal of His manifestation in our lives. Do not forget, He is the word.

THAT IS WHY YOU CANNOT ACCESS DIVINE WISDOM WITHOUT SEARCHING THE SCRIPTURES.

People who search the scriptures consistently operate in supernatural wisdom. You find them stumbling into the unsearchable riches of God’s wisdom and becoming supernaturally smart.

Searching the scriptures is one of the easiest ways to experience Jesus as the wisdom and power of God. Do not forget what He said, He said that when the Holy Ghost comes, He will testify of Him. That further buttress the connectivity between the Him, the word and the Holy Spirit, the Spirit or breathe of the word. When the Holy Spirit testifies of Him, it imparts divine wisdom into our hearts.

The faith position to take is to sit down with your Bible asking the Holy Ghost to talk to you about Jesus using His book.

Friend, after salvation, a life of Holiness, and the outpouring of the Holy Ghost upon your life, spending quality time with your Bible daily is the next key to use in accessing and operating in divine wisdom.

Sadly, many people cannot take this faith position because their hearts are not in order. When hearts are not in order, people will keep hearing without coming to the knowledge of the truth. And if you become part of that generation that “ever hears but does not come to the knowledge of the truth” spending quality time with your Bible will be a major problem in your spiritual life.

Looking for divine wisdom without spending time with your Bible is like going to the Bank to withdraw money without a checkbook or withdrawal Booklet. Salvation is created an account for us in the Central Bank of Heavenly wisdom, we only need to go with the withdraw slip or cheque book and a pure heart to withdraw.

It is obvious that no matter how much you have in the account, and no matter how urgent you need the money, you cannot withdraw anything for your account except you either have a checkbook or withdrawal slip. That goes to say that no matter how much you need Heavenly wisdom you will never access it until you spend time with the word – quality times.

IF YOU DO NOT READ YOUR BIBLE YOU WILL LACK DIVINE WISDOM IN YOUR LIFE.

Fasting and Praying is particularly good because among other things, it makes us powerful in the spirit. But fasting and praying without feasting on the word of the LORD makes us powerful fools. In other words, the easiest way to become an anointed fool is to spend time with God praying and fasting and not spend time with Him praying, fasting, and feasting on the word.

Any anointed fool can be destroyed by the enemy because spiritual warfare is a battle of wits – a battle of supernatural intelligence – not just a battle of power.

Divine Wisdom is an instrument of spiritual warfare. If you do not spend quality time with your Bible after receiving an outpouring of the Holy Ghost, you will be speaking in tongues and remain too foolish to defeat the enemy in battle. I know great men that moved in power but did not move in wisdom, the enemy destroyed them despite their power.

I learnt from them that if we move in power but do not move in wisdom, we will self-destruct. Wisdom comes when we spend quality time with the Bible, asking the LORD for an impartation of the wisdom from above to deal with problems from hell and men.

People who consistently spend time with the Bible will consistently break forth into wisdom. It is men who have broken forth into divine wisdom that Heaven will entrust with power and prosperity. God will never give you power or prosperity until He has given you wisdom. Wisdom is the access code to both.

Wisdom comes first before anything in the kingdom, that was why God passed Israel through the wilderness for 40 years. The Bible says He made them suffer hunger and relied only on what comes from above that they may learn that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from God. You find that in Deuteronomy 8:3.

The word “learn” in that scripture denotes an impartation of divine wisdom.

Meaning, God had them imparted with divine wisdom before giving them supernatural wealth. The power to get wealth never came until they had the wisdom to use wealth. If you are therefore, far from your Bible you will remain far from lasting peace, supernatural power, and the prosperity of the righteous.

Many in church today are either poor or having the prosperity of the wicked because they have no heavenly wisdom.

Most have demonic wisdom, and others human wisdom. Many do not have divine wisdom. The sad thing is we do not realize that Heavenly Wisdom is the missing ingredient so when we go to pray, we compound our problems by asking God for money instead of wisdom. We have not read our Bibles enough to know that God does not give money before wisdom. God gives first wisdom and then money.

As we bring this to a close, I want to admonish you to make your Bible your friend. The easiest way to hasten the moves of God in your life is to become wiser that you were yesterday.

Learn to break that distance between you and your Bible. If you do not have one, go and buy one. Though its more interesting to use the hard copy, you can download free Bibles into your smart phone and learn to spend quality time with it. God want to fill your heart with His wisdom, but you must let that happen by reading your Bible daily. He said to Joshua (and by extension to us),

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” Joshua 1:8 NKJV

MAKE THIS SCRIPTURE AN ADDITIONAL MEDITATION.

You, through your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies, for [Your words] are ever before me.

I have better understanding and deeper insight than all my teachers, because your testimonies are my meditation.
I understand more than the aged, because I keep your precepts [hearing, receiving, loving, and obeying them]. Psalms 119:98-100 AMP
